Hey folks, for the Aussies out there, Shows have been announced 24th jan for Sydney, 31st for Melbourne....Big Day Out anyone??...
Yeah, I just came in here to post that. Awesome news though. They better have a Brisbane sideshow, or I will have a promoter to murder. I also got a little giggle out of one of Blair's posts on Toolband. It was the first time I've been there in a while.
24 July, 2006 (03:59pm) NO WUCKING FURRIES, MATE This is for all our friends in Australia who have been sending emails (that's right, computers down under!) asking whether or not the blokes in Tool will soon be paying them a visit. Although we appreciate your enthusiasm, I'm sorry to say that at this point in time there are no confirmed dates. That said, unofficially speaking, if I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about Tool performing in one of their favorite places on the earth (even if you're past the black stump). So, how do I get my point across to you guys with the kookas on your socks? Okay, let's put it this way: Be more concerned about venomous creatures such as Sea-Wasps and Blue-Bottles, Blue-Ringed octopi, toxic snakes, Red Backs, male Tree-Dwelling Funnel-Web spiders, paralytic ticks, cone snails, and those as-of-yet undiscovered prehistoric hummingbirds that can kill a grown man (even if he's wearing an akubra) in three seconds by just looking at him with their beady black eyes. Be more concerned about that Huntsman in the family portrait hanging asymmetrically on your wall. Worry more about there being no more tinnies of lager in the esky, or someone squeezing ketchup on your Ponsonby meat-pie (or even worse, a life-threatening razor crust wound from your Mrs. Mac.) Worry about a saltie biting Kylie in that sweet *** of hers, or the bloke with all the gristle in his third pie floater shooting a fairy while you're trying to have a relaxing pub lunch (knocking the Huntsmen off the wall and into your Victoria Bitters... crikey!). Worry about a kanga darting in front of the ambo, about "Men at Work" reforming, about the price of designer akubras, about chunder on your bathers, about blowies on the vegemite, about your frigid digit while around the jillaroos, about running out of dunny paper, about a canary Holden, about the bunyip from the billabong, about the thingummy-bob you need to buy, BUT don't worry too much about Tool paying a visit down under. Yes, worry about kookaburras on your carpet grubs, or, hell, even about a dingo eating your baby... but don't worry about Tool while you're trying to push up zeds. Furphy?.. I think not... like a pimple on a pumpkin. So, hang on a tick. G'day!
|
hahaha, that was good.

Back on the drugs thing... I'd say for the most part, drugs make everything worse - coordination, strength, energy... But they do open your mind to things you may never have thought of...most of the time they're just quirky and weird, but they can make you more open-minded. They won't change who are as a person, but they will help you experience things that you could never experience sober. In my opinion, music DOES sound better when I'm stoned because the texture of the song affects you more because when stoned you're more sensitive to the senses. Perhaps, you cannot apprciate the structure of a song as much, but when you like the sound of something, you'll like it even more high because it'll just seem more aesthetically pleasing.
Don't take drugs, they're awful!!! |
Yeah, I just came in here to post that. Awesome news though. They better have a Brisbane sideshow, or I will have a promoter to murder.
Amen to that.. I'd rather they do their own gig and not the Big Day Out, but ill take both when it comes.n |
The more I look into it the more I get the impression that there will only be Sydney/Melbourne sideshows. Tickets for them go on sale on the 26th (I think), so I'm trying to decide if I should start planning a road trip, or take a chance and hope more dates will be announced. :(
|
I just listened to 10k days tonight and I've never realized how ****ing brilliant that bassist is. Seriously. I was having multiple eargasms during The Pot. Wow.

What makes you say that? |

I thought I'd bump this amazing revelation |

On Triple J they said more shows were to be announced, including Auckland,Melbourne,Brisbane,Adelaide and i think Perth. |

Right, and just like this article (see below link), I'll bet they said "Queensland", instead of Brisbane. This is because they will be referring to the Big Day Out dates, rather than sideshows. The use of the term Queensland instead of a city means they are talking about the Gold Coast BDO instead of a Brisbane Side Show. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=56613 |
I would rather them have a sideshow even though it won't be much of a difference in price ($90 for Sideshow - $120 for BDO). meh I probably won't be able to afford it (Already going to G2 and G3 which is about $200 already)....

My favorite bassline is during Jambi, where the song comes to a halt and Justin plays that chorus/flanged bit. Theckthi. |
I've given up on fhave a spiritual experience with drugs. Now I just do them recreationally and leave my spirituality to a sober mind all its own.
Do you mind saying what you've done on here? If you haven't tried Meth (aka speed), then I would recommend it if you're not one to get addicted to stuff easily. That stuff started fucking with me bigtime for a while, but that stuff's amazing for having incredible conversations about deep stuff with people, and thinking "outside the box". But again, I wouldn't recommend it if you think you get addicted to stuff easily. Addiction to meth isn't really "physical" addiction, it's more of a mental thing. ...Not that I've done this stuff though ;) |
Heh, I remember when Jake was a good kid who would stay out of all that stuff.
....wait, no I don't. |
Heh, I remember when Jake was a good kid who would stay out of all that stuff.

Hi guys. I haven't posted in quite some time.
Does anyone want to upload 10k Days? I ripped it from a friend, but I just accidentally deleted it from my computer. Thanks, guys. |

You guys see that? I love Metallica to death, but I think everyone knew ahead of time that a Metallica member stepping foot on stage during a Tool song might not go well. Just two completely different types of performances and musicians. |

well, I was allright with it when I originally had only the files.
I'll take my chances, though the booklet is insane |

Save the spiritual talking for when you're sober if you really want it to go somewhere. Talking outside the box when you're on drugs almost always invovles thinking about things that logically dosn't even make sense, and you don't remember when you're sober/realise you were talking shit. Fun as it might be. Drugs are only good for recreation/creativity, IMO. And only in small doses, EVERYTHING else suffers. |
I find creativity more interesting when it spawns from a clear, focused mind.

*shrug* At this point in what music I like and don't like, it's hard to say what was inspired by what, and who was on drugs at the time, etc. A lot of musicians take drugs, and without them, it's true, we may never have had a lot of the great music we have today. That said, taking drugs does not equal instant creativity, and creativity dosn't always mean a good song, but rather just presents more oppertunities. |

Schism and Stinkfist are just... :O.
Amazingcheesefacecake. |
So far I've listened to three tracks off of this Ark Sano, Piano Tool tribute..
The Patient and Schism are great.. Ticks and Leeches was a very creative interpretation but not exactly pleasant to listen to.. Definately listening through this tomorrow when at work |

But when I perform live or something, it's good for that. I basically only take it for the talking thing. I've been sober for about 2 months now though. So I'm probably done with those drugs. |
Troll - Pot, DXM, alcohol..Meth is about the last drug I'd do, actually.

I've got 6 left.
Courtesy of our resident Mike, I have this "Tool Vs. Massive Attack" song featuring samples from Stinkfist and Teardrop. It's good for a couple listens. hxxp://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=640D40AF2B0071A8& |
4 Days for me. :D
|
Have fun at the Edmonton show. I wish I could go to the Edmonton one as well, cause Tool is that awesome live. The floor had seating so that was lame cause I couldn't see over all the tall people, so I just stood on my seat the entire time. The last songs they played were my favorites, Lateralus, Vicarious and Aenima.
|
I still got two weeks :(
