Stephen King books are hit and miss when it comes to movie forms though. The Shining was the best and he HATED it. He disowned it. The Kubrick version, at least.

Deconstruction 03-30-2006 08:06 PM

Anyone seen the movie Pi?

PinkFreud 03-30-2006 08:09 PM

Yeah. It was ok. I didn't love it.
My life is music, movies, and books, not necessarily in that order.

I've been watching a lot of movies lately because I'm about debut my first short flicks this summer. I want to pick up on as much as I can for inspiration. And Carnival of Souls really got me thinking. I have to wonder why it isn't more famous.
The one from 1962 or '98? It sounds pretty cool.

ArcLite 03-30-2006 08:48 PM

So I just got back from McDonalds, and here's why I hate the place:

1. Before I even get in the place I get mobbed by a begger asking for money. I wasn't in a good mood so I didn't give. I should have told him to go inside and ask for an application.

2. I wait in line for 10 mins before anyone takes my order.

3. My order:
Me: "Can I get a number two and a cheese burger, please?"
Her: "Ok, a number three and a cheeseburger, anything else for you today?"
Me: "I wanted a number two." (Do these people speak English?)
Her: "Oh ok, your total is $5.27"

I hand her a twenty and say "Hold on, I think I have the 27c." At this point a look of confusion comes over the lady's face, obviously because she didn't graduate from elementary school math and couldn't understand I wanted an even $15 back. So, I dig in my wallet, retrieve 27c and give it to her. She punches it in and when it lists change of $15 she says "Oh, that's what the 27 cents was for." ...No shit.

Then I wait another 10 minutes for my order. When it does come out, surprise surprise, it's a number three. When I mention the order was wrong the cashier says, "Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you ordered a number three." Wow.

Five more minutes for the correct sandwich to come out.

4. I sit down to eat. While eating, yet another begger, female this time, comes up asking for some money. I'm especially not in the mood now. I answer with a firm "No." The bitch says "Asshole" as she walks away. Oh, I'm sorry, am I the cause of you being a no money burnout?

For the next year, Taco Bell is getting all of my money.

/Feeling much better after typing the rant.

Shred Danson 03-30-2006 08:53 PM

Solution: Eat at Hardees.

Or if you're on the West Coast (specifically California) In N Out.

Sleepy 03-30-2006 08:53 PM

Taco Bell > McDonald's. By far.

Fake Mexican food FTW!!!

:o I love that movie, I think it is brilliant...but to everyman his own.

Deth 03-30-2006 08:54 PM

After working in a bagel store, my patience for that stuff goes down, because it's really not hard.

Besides Taco Bell >>> McDonalds

ArcLite 03-30-2006 08:57 PM

I do always prefer the Bell above all, and Hardees for burgers, But tonight I was in a McDonalds mood. So much for that. Should've just gone for some quesadillas or a thickburger.

gillygan 03-30-2006 08:58 PM

Hey Steerpike, have you read the Eragon/Eldest books?
Del TAco>>> Taco Bell >>> McDonalds
Fix'd. I love the soft Chicken tacos. Four at a time.

Theres a Mexican food shiop by me called El Cotixan. Freaking amazing carne asada fries. I crave those day and night. Not very good burritos though.

Deth 03-30-2006 08:58 PM

I've never been to Hardees. None around me.

ArcLite 03-30-2006 09:00 PM
I've never been to Hardees. None around me.
You're missing out. Their Thickburgers, as they call them, not only are the best for fast food, but they easily rival anything you could get at a sitdown place.

ArcLite 03-30-2006 09:10 PM
I wouldn't go that far, unless your sitdown places really suck, but their roast beef sandwiches set my world ablaze.
Heh, they do suck. The only places to get a sitdown burger within an hour of here is Chili's or Applebee's...Both of which, at least the ones here, serve a pretty piss poor burger.

By the way, I've always wondered what your user name means...Care to enlighten me?

ATM 03-30-2006 09:11 PM

Wendy's is good too.

Not much of a fan. A Cheeburger Cheeburger just moved in here. It's sooooo good.
Wendy's is good too.
I like Wendy's burgers (the triple decker is an excellent mouthful), but their fries have always been sub-par to me.

ATM 03-30-2006 09:14 PM

Checkers has some good fries.

Joe 03-30-2006 09:15 PM
Checkers has some good fries.
I haven't been to Checkers. There isn't one around here. I really like Popeyes and Roy Rogers fries.

Stormrider 03-30-2006 09:15 PM

I'm a Mcdonalds whore. But yeah cjborton, the fries at Wendy's are far fromt he best, but the spicy chicken sandwich I like a lot.

Hey Chris, yeah, I go the email, but I couldn't load the video.

Okay, this is embarrassing, since I'm wearing my work clothes to Uni, since I have to go straight from Uni to work, and I will be majorly pressed for time, I think.

It's half-an-hour of driving from JCU to Coles, and I start work at 4.30. Problem is, my lab was pushed back so that it ends at 5.

Fun, huh?

Good times, indeed. Wonder why the video didn't work? Anyway, it was titled "Why mommies don't buy dolls for baby boys" or something like that. The video showed a baby boy in his crib with a girly doll and he basically goes to town humping the doll. It was amusing.

Joe 03-30-2006 09:32 PM

Hm, Dire Straits?
