People are panicing because this thread was destickied.
That weirds me out. I have been on an instrumental/jazz binge lately. I haven't listened to music with words for I think 2 or 3 days.

fail-hitler 01-19-2005 09:26 PM

I like Rise Against.
I just got there new CD an hour ago and it kicks.

El_Shiznit 01-19-2005 09:31 PM
I like Rise Against.

Yes it does. It's one of my favorite albums ever.

Silvermedalmafia 01-19-2005 09:35 PM

It isn't nearly as good as RPM

El_Shiznit 01-19-2005 09:35 PM

They are equal in my opinion.

fail-hitler 01-19-2005 09:39 PM

RPM is what i was gonna order but the guys was all like is it "siren sound of...."
and i said no and no then he ordered it anyway so i said what the hell who cares

fail-hitler 01-19-2005 09:40 PM
They are equal in my opinion.
the whole band is just awesome

fail-hitler 01-19-2005 09:41 PM

Ok my thread isnt working....
is the band THE FIGHT good?
cause i might go to one of their shows is it worth it?

Silvermedalmafia 01-19-2005 09:42 PM

RPM doesn't have the weaker songs that Siren Song of the Counter Culture. What songs you ask? Destionation Anywhere but here and Paper Wings. RPM also has more really excellent songs.

fail-hitler 01-19-2005 09:42 PM

got a point there

El_Shiznit 01-19-2005 09:42 PM

I think both of those songs are pretty strong really. Destination Anywhere is amazing in my opinion.

Anarchy&Peace 01-19-2005 10:18 PM

Anyone know any good sites to get some old school cds? All the punk stuff around here is on vinyl and i dont have a record player, i guess amazon is a good site but a lot of it is used and dont want to deal with returning it.

El_Shiznit 01-19-2005 10:19 PM

I almost always use www.interpunk.com

Stray Cat Strut. It's a good challenge, intresting chords.

El_Shiznit 01-19-2005 10:20 PM

How long have you been playing?

Sid 01-19-2005 10:21 PM

Whats the bassline? I'll play it while you do the guitar part.

Brain Toad 01-19-2005 10:22 PM
How long have you been playing?
2 years.

El_Shiznit 01-19-2005 10:25 PM

At about the end of my second year, I gave up lessons. But then I pretty much gave up on my own. I didn't pick my guitar up until a year after quitting. Then I was like back at step one. So, I'm still technically one year teaching myself.

I don't consider myself that good, but I got an arsenal of original hardcore and pop-punk tunes that are quite catchy. Now I just gotta find a good singer to record these with.

Brain Toad 01-19-2005 10:28 PM

I'm not actually very good, except with punk. I love power chords, and I'll use them whenever I can now, because I'm lazy and have too fat of fingers for all these complex chords. I gave up a bit in my first year, but I rekindled my love when I started playing while on the computer and now that I can play in school (open insturment), I pick up stuff faster and enjoy playing a lot more. Most times I rather play my own stuff instead of other people's. Just learn it to show people I can play and learn some new techniques.

Anarcho Poser 01-19-2005 10:29 PM

I've been teaching myself for about a year. I suck :(

**at bass.

I've been teaching myself guitar for about 2 months. I really suck.

Anarchy&Peace 01-19-2005 10:31 PM
I almost always use www.interpunk.com
Great site thanks.

Brain Toad 01-19-2005 10:32 PM

I wanted to pick up bass, still kinda do because I just want to play ska bass lines.

I'm supposed to be in a ska band with some friends, but we can't find a drummer. It'll be awesome if it works out.

El_Shiznit 01-19-2005 10:33 PM

Playing on the computer is what got me to keep at it. I love power chords too. I can play other barre chords and whatnot, but I generally don't like to.

Anarcho Poser, here's what I did to get better. I took a song with techniques in it I couldn't do and just beat that song to death until I finally got it. It took me a while, but when you can finally play it fluently, it feels so good. I'm still not your raging solo rocker, but I don't really want to be. :)

I must give a few bands credit for guitar and that would be Green Day for inspiring me to pick it up again. And AFI for teaching me new methods, techniques, chords, etc.

Sid 01-19-2005 10:34 PM

I play ska bass. I taught myself bass and although i'm decent, I know i can be so much better. It's funny. You start thinking you're getting good and then suddenly you realize how much you don't really know. This has happened to me so many times.

Brain Toad 01-19-2005 10:35 PM

The Ramones made me actually think I can play. When a 1st year student tries to play Zep, it's kind of discouraging. Dick Dale got me really into intrique techniques, and a little bit of improv.

Sid 01-19-2005 10:38 PM

Yeah the ramones did that for me too. I played along to all their songs, but ska bass is what really got me working. It's nice, I put in Keasbey nights or streetlight manifesto and I can just play all their songs. Or I put in a Against All Authority or Op Ivy CD and I have all their basslines down.

Anarcho Poser 01-19-2005 10:38 PM

I dunno, I'm not too bad technically, it's just.... I'm slow at learning songs, and I don't know very many.

TheNowhereman42 01-19-2005 10:40 PM

im currently attempting to start a band

El_Shiznit 01-19-2005 10:43 PM

StruckEverywhere 01-19-2005 10:43 PM
