It's sad really :upset:
He was/still is so amazing, I watched a movie/documntary on him the other day, in the end, a full orchestra played one of his songs (Not sure if it was one of his newer songs or not though) at a ballat, it was bloody good.

And ended with him playing a Yngwie song I believe, some sweep part and he goes "Nah, stuff it, it's too hard!". :D
I have one on my computer about 45 minutes longs, him performing with cacophony and guitar clinics for the first 20 minutes and that documentary for the other 25 minutes with him playing Yngwie at school at the end.

yeah...i think that if they go on for more then 5 more years they are gonna be just terrible. but it depends on the new album coming out. i'm excited/fearful. if i was in metallica i wouldn't be able to stomach the road life for more than 25 years. i can't believe they have made it this far.

They're all getting tired of it, well except for Rob. Just look at lars, that's probably what James and Kirk will be like in a few years.

Chu 10-16-2005 01:26 PM

Bitter old men? :p

Nothing like his younger, 'metalhead' self.

Jev 10-16-2005 01:29 PM
Bitter old men? :p

That and not being able to play half of the songs properly.

Chu 10-16-2005 01:30 PM

I dunno, James has such a monster of a picking arm, and Kirk's well, full of surprises really.

metalmilitia101 10-16-2005 01:33 PM

yeah...i'm seeing alot of confidence in james, even tho his voice is bleehhh but kirk is always the quiet go ahead man...not necessarily quiet...but yeah rob is relatively new and he's probably blown out of his mind that he is getting to play with metallica so he will stay, and i'm surprised lars is still in the band. he seems to not even like it anymore, maybe thats just me.

Britton 10-16-2005 01:35 PM

I think it will depend on the next album

metalmilitia101 10-16-2005 01:37 PM

that's what i think too

If Lars left the band would end.

heavy metal kid 10-16-2005 01:39 PM
hey i was just thinking today (thats dangerous) but do you guys think metallica will still be around for like 20 more years...cuz like aerosmith and the stones are still around, and alot of old bands so i was thinking they just might make it to 60 lol. but what do you think? i don't know if they will be that stable to keep on for so long, but its possible.
20 years is too long, but if Judas Priest, Lemmy and Danzig can, i don't see why metallica can't.

Britton 10-16-2005 01:39 PM

No way...

If james left the band would end. Who really cares about lars?
He's the least talanted player in the band and He's also the most
annoying

angusmaster 10-16-2005 01:40 PM

What was the name of the guy who replaced cliff when he died,i know its a retarded question, but for some reason i dont know his name.

metalmilitia101 10-16-2005 01:40 PM

"If Lars left the band would end."

probably, but i'm not sure it's hard to tell. i can't really think of anyone suitable for the position, although everyone can play as well as lars lol.
What was the name of the guy who replaced cliff when he died,i know its a retarded question, but for some reason i dont know his name.
jason newsted...right?

Jason Newsted?

Edit: I was listening to some song, I think maybe The God That Failed, and you can hear the bass pretty well, I think Jason has a really good sound to his bass, it almost sounds finger plucked to me....

Lars is a founding member, He manages a lot of the band's business and people love him. I doubt that Metallica would carry on without him, no matter how much he sucks.

The one who replaced Jason Newstead when he left.

metalmilitia101 10-16-2005 01:43 PM

robert trujillo....plays bass

damn people are posting like lightning right now

periculosus 10-16-2005 01:43 PM

i dont think that many people can play like lars although he is not the best drummer. but what is really something to question is what direction would metallica would have taken if cliff didnt died. or what if kirk lost the card game and he would've died instead??!?!!?

metalmilitia101 10-16-2005 01:44 PM

woah i don't wanna think about that one.

Maybe dave would've came back.
Lots of people love Lars because they don't realise he sucks, they think he's god. there was this one lady at Download who was saying that Joey from Slipknot can't keep up with him and I'm sure there's a hellova lot of people who think like her.

James and Lars on the phone: Hello, Dave?
Dave: What do you want?!!
James and Lars: We are sorry, we love you come back.

Pretty much what it would happen.

haha  but he'd probably be gone again a year later and replaced with oh, Adrian Smith (retarded I know)

Chu 10-16-2005 01:49 PM
woah i don't wanna think about that one.
Meh, I think Kirk has always been pretty disposable (Especially after Ride and Master), and Cliff not so much. In fact, Cliff would be very hard to replicate (Maybe Ellefson could have done it).

heavy metal kid 10-16-2005 01:50 PM
haha  but he'd probably be gone again a year later and replaced with oh, Adrian Smith (retarded I know)
Adrian Smith is a long shot.
They would probably picked Scott Ian or Michael Denner(metalli-friends), or maybe they could win Marty Friedman(before DM).

But hey, i'm happy with the Metallica we have.

metalmilitia101 10-16-2005 01:53 PM

yeah cliff was pretty hard to replicate...they never really got over that.

angusmaster 10-16-2005 01:58 PM

Dave Mustaine was the first guitar player, right.
yeah cliff was pretty hard to replicate...they never really got over that.
What do you mean?, Rob hasn't show us his real potencial like a metallica composser, i have heard Junglescence and it was awesome, besides his live acts are great.

metalmilitia101 10-16-2005 02:04 PM

*hasn't shown us*.....key words

heavy metal kid 10-16-2005 02:07 PM
*hasn't shown us*.....key words
His live acts are better than Jason's.
Junglescence is almost as good as Anesthsia and he can play all the Burton songs perfectly, for what he showed, he's as good as Burton.

And that's not even his real potencial.

Metallion#666 10-16-2005 02:10 PM

Yes

. . .And the best one they'd ever have:thumb:

angusmaster 10-16-2005 02:12 PM

Daves better than Kirk?

Britton 10-16-2005 02:13 PM

I think they could live without lars.

Like a Metallica guitarist Hammett is perfect, the guitar work on Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and AJFA are superior to Kill 'em All and DM songs on RTL.

But as an overall guitar player Dave is probably better than Hammett.

Metallion#666 10-16-2005 02:17 PM

easily

heavy metal kid 10-16-2005 02:26 PM
easily
Dave owns Hammett on speed and composition.
Hammett doesn't always get stuck on metal,he plays different styles, his covers are superior to all dave can do.

Marty> Hammett and Dave

Britton 10-16-2005 02:28 PM

Even though it's all metal...there are so many different influences
on these players wich makes it very hard to pick whitch one is
better

I think Dave is the most versitle
Hammet is the most uniqe
and marty is the best technicaly speaking

Metallion#666 10-16-2005 02:31 PM

I just think dave is the best overall- he's extremely versatile and technical.
