got tool? 06-18-2006 09:54 AM

123, i think they ruined the song with the remix.

But eMotive made up for all the crappy songs with Passive

YouGottaBeCrazy 06-18-2006 10:45 AM

I didn't think Passive was really too good. I don't know. I guess it just never caught me.

One Groovin Clown 06-18-2006 07:12 PM

we'll passive in contrast with the rest of the labum almost seems gold.

Daven 06-18-2006 07:16 PM

PAssive is my favorite off eMOTIVE. 13 Step is definitely my favorite album by them.

PeEpHoLe_10 06-19-2006 05:19 AM

Passive is overrated IMO.It just sounds good on Emotive.13th Step is the winner for me,although my favourite song is on Mer De Noms;Orestes.

Adam Jones is GOD 06-19-2006 06:43 AM

ATTN: Rob (and anyone else who still cares about Tool news)

Remember back during Tool's little tour promo outing we said they would never do Gonzo? Well, they did on friday. So we were wrong

It seems a good interview as well, the little they played of it, MJK giving justification to the lack of setlist changes, being down to his voice not yet being up to full capacity to handle some of the more challenging parts (The Grudge, Parabola, 10k days, etc). Plus Adam talked about the videos.

It should be online soon, ill keep you posted

The Flabbit Rides High 06-19-2006 08:35 AM

I always considered Emotive to be a good cover album really.

It wasn't gold or anything, but it had some nice interpretations (eclectic), which really grabbed me. I might be the only one here, but I kinda liked the darker version of Imagine. It was a different interpretation, but also very professional.

However, there was obviously some filler. I never actually bought the album, and probably never will, but I definitely don't consider it to be rubbish!

denboy 06-19-2006 02:31 PM

I like Emotive too.. I think they managed to give the whole album a doomy feel wich I appreciate

PeEpHoLe_10 06-19-2006 07:51 PM

Anyone wanna do a cover of The Pot?

Adam Jones is GOD 06-20-2006 11:36 AM

I was tempted to learn The Pot after seeing it live, but I went and tried to tab the extra part in Stinkfist instead, since there are no tabs around of it

denboy 06-20-2006 12:14 PM

Can I do vocals if you actually end up doing the cover?

Me singing the intro, recorded with inbuilt laptop mic: http://www.zshare.net/audio/the-pot-mp3.html I just did this, and I don't know the lyrics, so I was reading them while singing.. I do have proper equipment for recording vocals *hugs his sm58*

Darkness 06-20-2006 06:03 PM

Few North American dates announced for late summer, my home town being one of them (Edmonton). I'll be cancelling a trip to Italy with a few members of my family to go. :)

One Groovin Clown 06-20-2006 10:51 PM

My town was just announed today as well. I'm getting my tickets nice and early.

Not Bad.

PeEpHoLe_10 06-21-2006 04:45 AM

Ok,i just recorded a quick take of The Pot on guitar. It sounds pretty rough andi ****ed up in a few spots, but its a basic outline.I started recording from about 1.42 onwards so there was none of those gaps without guitar.

Im a spastic with computers,so i dont even know if the file will work and what not,but ill give it a go...http://www.zshare.net/info.html?313495-87a2cff8084ef2b9af8894f118fd8dca

Shadius 06-21-2006 06:44 AM

I might give the vocals a go too if I can get them down. I always seem to have to go into falsetto to hit some notes, but we'll see if I can smooth it out.

denboy 06-21-2006 12:40 PM

Does anyone know what Maynard is singing at the start of Forty Six & 2.. It's too low for me to decipher

Othersides 06-21-2006 12:54 PM

Just mumble and let a "SHADOW" every few seconds :p

Duman 06-21-2006 12:58 PM

^ Haha so true.

denboy 06-21-2006 01:03 PM
Just mumble and let a "SHADOW" every few seconds :p
I was thinking more along the lines of "drowning shoes, in shadows drowning shoooes"

Kage 06-21-2006 01:21 PM

How cryptic.

Good vocals, by the way.

I always thought it was something along the lines of "dark night shadow".

Yeah I just added you.

For some reason I have been speeding up the pot and listening to it. Not for any reason besides maynard sounds funny on the "Helium" effect in adobe audition.

Rage_Against_The_System 06-22-2006 03:30 PM

Knifeboy, what Maynard says at the start of 46 & 2 is:

Join in my
Join in my child
and listen ...
Digging through
My old numb shadow

Anyway, I recently watched on Channel 4 and Kerrang the Download highlights and not ONCE did any of them show any footage of Tool's performance.

I was really pissed off about this, I mean, Tool were one of the three main headline acts, and only Metallica and Guns N' Roses were shown. Anyone care to fill me in with why there was no footage of Tool shown?

Huber 06-22-2006 05:55 PM

Tool's too cool for channel 4.

Towlie 06-22-2006 11:19 PM

Did anyone ever figure out who did that fake vicarious song that was around two minutes long?

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-22-2006 11:23 PM

I heard Isis named a few times. No confirmations though

No Tool footage was shot during the performance. Hence why the big screens had the band's imagery on.

MTV2 have had a fair few interviews with the band though from both Download, and on Gonzo. Still a bit strange seeing MJK doing interviews so openly, compared to his Lateralus ones.

And good news from those interviews shows that Tool are looking at a winter full UK tour, as the record label will actually pay for the tour this time, unlike 2002, where the UK shows were paid for by the band, hence why so few

Does anyone else hear a popping noise in Tool- Stinkfist, in the first half of the song? I need to know if it's the cd or the way it's supposed to be.
Thanks

I love the lyrics to Rosetta Stoned.
I don't know why, but they entertain me quite a bit.

Arrrgh, I just got a bunch of Tool CD's, burned copies, and none of them were labled minus one, and some of the tracks were taken off, so I can't label them, that pisses me off and makes me not want to listen to them.
any of you guys want to help me with this?

I like the intro to Rosetta Stoned. Sounds awesome on headphones.

Vicarious is my favorite song on the album at the moment though, even know there is slight clipping in the intro.
Does Tool do this on purpose or is it just bad recording techniques?
