Decrepit Birth's new album has lots of good riffs/ideas but they don't flow cohesively at all. The songs go absolutely nowhere.

I'm glad they got rid of Tim Yeung. **** that guy, they're a lot better off without him.

They never build up and climax. The only song that does that that I can remember is Reflection of Emtotions (which is actually a really good song).

Most of the songs are just a million riffs going every which way and never repeating so they're pretty much totally unmemorable.

i pretty much stand by that, based on his work with odious mortem mostly, but obv also with decrepit birth

Hell yeah it does. It's a great album because it's quite technical but always retains a strong sense of melody (unlike Origin).

okay, this has me convinced you havent listened at all to the new Origin album, like not even one second even on their myspace or anything, because thats the most ignorant statement ever

yes, i love it.

I listened to it when it came out, only one full listen though. All I can remember was a beyond gratutious amount of sweep patterns.

yes, they wank and they wank a lot, but they do it well, and (especially in comparison to "echoes of decimation") retain a strong sense of melody throughout, it's almost melodeath just 300% faster

dont get me wrong, i really like the new decrepit birth a lot too, not comapring them, but antithesis is way more melodic than origins previous work

Like I said I only listened to it one time and can't remember much of the melodic moments that you're describing. Just the excessive wank and blast-beatery.

That's definitely true, I just find DB's new release a lot easier to listen to.
