Yes, but atleast he likes the Allman Brothers.
What the hell's going on with you two now?

I've never heard Arlo Guthrie, but I like Brian Setzer.
Arlo Guthrie is a champ.

He's Woody Guthrie's son.

Did you ever hear the song Alice's Restaurant? Or Coming into Los Angeles?

Woodstock 01-27-2005 06:46 PM

I've heard an extended live version live version of Alice's Restaurant. And his performance at Woodstock. Both very good.

I have not. But at least I recognize Woody Guthrie.

And who's Ray Davies?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-27-2005 06:51 PM
I believe his writing was overrated. He wrote silly/stupid early Beatle like songs. But where they had good melodies and progressed, be didn't really.
He was a musical genius....

The early Beatles wrote every single song about love and basiclly sounded all alike. He wrote the most psychedellic songs. Oh and early Dead wasn't very good.

Anthem of the Sun < Piper at the Gates of Dawn anyday hope you agree.

The guy behind the fantastic Kinks ;)

thickasabrick 01-27-2005 06:52 PM

Is Arlo Guthries music a lot different than Woodys? Or are they in simliar/the same genres? I've never actually heard anything by Woody Guthrie, but I've heard a lot of artists cover his songs.

clown_phobia 01-27-2005 06:52 PM

Someone please review The Who - My generation.

Woodstock 01-27-2005 06:53 PM

I'll give out samples of a Kinks song. Just contact me.

Broken Arrow 01-27-2005 06:57 PM

Ray Davies is quite the songwriter. Very witty.

True. One of the most English people you'll ever hear.

Johnny B. Good 01-27-2005 07:12 PM

he even sounds British when he sings, normally you really can't distinguish people's accents(sometimes you can) from their singing

Yep. Like the Beatles. The song Twist and Shout, it's hard to believe it's Lennon singing.

Who else sounds really British when they sing?

RockAndRoll 01-27-2005 07:27 PM

alot of floyd's stuff is fairly british as well as oasis and the streets. Alot of brits you can still tell are british when they sing it's just not the same distinct accent.

Johnny B. Good 01-27-2005 07:30 PM

Well I was thinking of Eric Clapton who doesn't sound that British and the same with Jack Bruce and Robert Plant and Bono, actually even when Bono talks he doesn't sound Irish

Against Miik! 01-27-2005 07:33 PM

Clapton sounds a little British when he talk, but when he sings you can hardly notice it.

Johnny B. Good 01-27-2005 07:35 PM

I only meant Bono and even Robert Plant to some degree don't have accents from their residential areas when they speak

Instellar Overdrive is the greatest song ever....

Speaking of drugs...a total of 18 people got arrested in the last 2 days at my school (bars and weed). About 5 of my freinds had some on them when they cheaked them and they didn't get cought.

I found a new shroom\weed\bar dealer today behind my house. :D

RockAndRoll 01-27-2005 07:39 PM

Alot of those guys have spent alot of time in america touring and such and probably lost some of their accent. You can still hear bono's anyways.

Johnny B. Good 01-27-2005 07:39 PM

sweet, did you get any shrooms?

That gives me this picture of you just walking around your backyard and then all of a sudden uncovering some drug dealer just laying there under a pile of branches or something.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-27-2005 07:42 PM

^No but Im thinking about it

Johnny B. Good 01-27-2005 07:43 PM

I've heard great things about them, even from this person who's really responsible told me to try shrooms. I gave up on LSD because I decided it would Fuk me up too much

Woodstock 01-27-2005 07:45 PM

Stop talking about drugs would ya? It ain't impressin' no one.
