Speaking of books....
Has anyone here read "The Hobbit"?
I've read it countless times and it's still a personal favorite.

I couldn't get through it.
It was soooo boring.

Everyone should read Jeanette Winterson's Gut Symmetries.
I loved it.
The way she writes is fricken' fantastic.

Blank 01-17-2006 03:01 PM

The Hobbit...boring? :O
Well to each there own. What is "Gut Symmetries" about?

Janeway 01-17-2006 03:06 PM

Three people named Jove, Stella, and Alice, and their quirky dysfunctional relationship.
Jove, Stella's husband, has an affair with Alice. Alice writes a letter explaining it to Stella, and then Alice and Stella end up sleeping together. Some stuff happens, and then the trio decide to take a yacht trip.
Alice's father dies, so she bails at the last minute leaving Jove and Stella by their lonesome in the middle of the ocean.
Jove, being the idiot he is, doesn't know how to drive the yacht, and they end up stranded together in the middle of the ocean.
He thinks Stella is dead, and in order to avoid starving to death, he eats the flesh off of her buttock and abdomen.
Alice gets on a boat, sails out, and finds them.
Stella actually isn't dead, and she gets a divorce from Jove to go live happily ever after.
Something like that.
The plot really wasn't too spectacular, but I love the way Jeanette Winterson writes. You'd have to read it to see what I mean.
