I should've made a list but I'm too lazy right now to think of Metalcore plus I haven't listen to much Metalcore lately or at all but some of the bands mentioned on some of those lists are pretty mediocre. A lot of essential/awesome **** of course but still, Misery Signals? Norma Jean? siKTH? The Chariot? meh.
and Watchmaker are not metalcore. |
how bout who gives a ****
|
how bout i love you baby :3
|
should we break our love up into different categories like sex/you buying me dinner/me cleaning you off when you spill food on your shirt/not sweating the little things/etc?
|
i love how you categorize yourself as a woman right from the start :)
And as long as sex is in on top of the list we are good to go :3 |
I disagree with both of them, if other ppl don't back you up I say we hold off from putting them on the list.
I definitely back up Breathing Is Irrelevant. |
I don't know if we can talk about SikTh in this thread but I wish they reunited. :(
|
I do too. they were unique and ****ing amazing.
|
SikTh was one of the best metal bands, period. I always wonder if they fit here or in the progressive metal thread. pretty sure they fit in both. same with btbam; TSC made it into our definitive metalcore list but by the time they got to Alaska onward it's really not metalcore anymore..
|
SikTh was one of the best metal bands, period.
Wowzors. |
SikTh annoyed the **** out of me at times
|
yeah, not even close
|
I take back nothing
|
Architects, Shai Hulud, Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, and Oathbreaker are all awesome
I've tried numerous times to get into DEP, but I can never seem to do it, I don't know what it is. And for ETID, is there a specific album to start with? Or should I just go from the beginning?
I consider these essential metalcore: A crap load of bands
What, no Killswitch? :D Haha, thanks WxR, I guess I know what I'll be doing this summer. :thumb: |
And for ETID, is there a specific album to start with? Or should I just go from the beginning?
If you want their more 'tech' side, get Last Night in Town, if you want their best album get Hot Damn! |

As for DEP, Miss Machine is considered a classic, and for good reason. I recommend starting there. Where ETID is concerned, to add to Cocaine's suggestion, I really like The Big Dirty and New Junk Aesthetic but I'm in the minority on that one. |
New Junk Aesthetic is pretty decent.
|

You need better maths skills. |

fair enough

kinda surprised tbh, whatchu guys got against SikTh?
|
I'm just not into them.
|
they have cool parts, but listening to a full song is usually a chore
|
Look at who's compiling the list lol.
I added The Chariot, I took the other three from Mappy, hurrr. Opps minus Sikth, that was from Frankie. |
Speaking of the list, can everyone agree to this list?
My list, taking out some of the Mappy crap and mislabeled bands (Rifs at Recess, ATSS0), along with some of Retireds bands. Added only a few cause you both named all the good bands. I disagree with some of the albums pick but fuc k it, this is the beta master metalcore list.

I'm thinking of removing The End, cause I don't think anyone listens to em.
|
yeah a Hatebreed album would be essential, i'd go for "perseverance"
also, add fukn Ion Dissonance |
haven't listened to them in a LOOONG time
|
yeah a Hatebreed album would be essential, i'd go for "perseverance"
Rise Of Brutality is the only Hatebreed album I can stand, and that's in very small doses, but they're def one of the most influential metalcore bands out there, so yeah, they should make the cut. |
What, no Killswitch? :D
Haha, thanks WxR, I guess I know what I'll be doing this summer. :thumb:
NP bru. And idk, I used to love KSE but I just grew out of them sometime during high school. And the funny thing is back when I was into stuff like that I couldn't stand Dillinger (which is bizarre because I love whitebelt grind), but somewhere along the line they just clicked with me. |
You guys honestly wanna put Hatebread on the list?
When I was like 18 I subjected myself to listen to DEP's CI while I would cut the lawn. |
I don't like Hatebreed, but you seriously can't have an essential metalcore list without one of the most influential metalcore bands of all time.
|
One more person should ok, though.
Also for any noobs who care, The Human Abstract now has the screamer/guitarist from FFTL and The Color of Violence as their front man. Pretty jokes. |
The Human Abstract was always a bit of jokes.
and ugh I neg the Hatebreed suggestion. Influential or no they're just awful. |
nocturne was ok but everything else is terrible. new stuff will continue to be terrible.
|
man Diablerie is soo good
|
Ion Dissonance should be on there. Watchmaker should.
If it's a definitive list then Hatebreed should have a place, if it was an elite one then I'd ofc say no. |
every single hatebreed song has the same riff and lyrics
