43 minutes?!?!?!? How old is that PC?

I thought my old one was bad, and it takes about 10-15mins.
2 years. It's a Dell, which means that they probably don't make these things very well because most college students can't afford anything better.

And I appreciate the votes of confidence, Chu, but tonight I'm just in one of those moods I need to sleep off. My nerves are getting to me again.

Chu 08-22-2005 12:03 AM

Well, Linux is always a good choice of operating systems for old hardware, 2 years doesn't seem that old, but in technology terms, 2 years is pretty ancient (My computer is about 6 years old, but can run as fast as a modern PC, because it's using Linux, or at least I like to think so, takes about 40 seconds to boot up to splash screen..)

That's just me whoring Linux :)

A job well done, might I add.

Also, to all the Aussie's: I liked the daytime version of Ready, Steady, Cook better. It's more madcore than the celebrity one on at night.

Agreed.

I've actually caught the daytime version a fair bit lately, since I had a week and a half off recently. I am just addicted to cooking shows in general.

All this talk of Ready, Steady, Cook reminds me of the Red Dwarf version of Can't Cook, Won't Cook which they aptly retitled Can't Smeg, Won't Smeg.
I have to watch it now :)

Good choice, that is truely brilliant.

I just failed in reading The Da Vinci Code for around the 5th time
I don't think I'm meant to make it through this book.

And the Iron Chef!

Watch in wonder as the Gay Elvis Impersonator Kaga unveils the secret ingredient: Komodo Dragon!

Cue American faking Japanese accent: "Ah, Komodo Dragon... if my memory serves me correctly, this delicacy from Indonesia has good parts and bad parts. The best part is the eye... renowned for its supposed healing powers."

So remember this when cooking Komodo Dragon: The best part is the eye.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-22-2005 04:50 AM

 Love that American commentary.

Chu 08-22-2005 05:00 AM

Iron Chef is great!!!!

I haven't seen this Ready, Steady, Cook thing though :upset:

I sometimes watch Huey though, he's so pro, makes me think what would happen if Kim Beazley hooked up with Jim Murphey.

what the heck happened with Iron Maiden and Sharon? I'm trying to read the story on babblermouth but I'm being attacked by countless pop ups!

On another note, I had quite an adventure yesterday. Windows update indicated that I should download Service Package 2 for bigger safety so I thought it would be a good idea to try so. The download (90 MB if I'm not mistaken) must have stuck at some point since it wasnt finished even after 3 hours so I reset the PC.

When I turned it on again the SP2 seem to work normally but the PC became dramatiacally slow (yes even slower than it usually is!) and I couldnt use the internet. This is probably because my computer is old (2000) and has a small hard disk and low memory.

Anyway, I was so upset, I scared myself since I even almost started crying! My entire day was ruined but thankfully, after dealing, with some difficulties I removed the SP2 and everything's back to normal now. It's just...This obsession sickens me, you know, but I have nothing else to do besides this :(

From what I have heard, what happened with Maiden and Sharon is....

Maiden was playing Ozzfest and someone kept turning of their PA and people were throwing shit at them and stuff.

Then Bruce started ranting about all the assholes. Then, after their set Sharon came out called Bruce a prick and told them to Fuck off or somthing.

Thats just what i heard, I don't really know exactly how it went down.

Stoic 08-22-2005 07:43 AM

god, this is just pathetic, both of them are supposed to be professionals :(

By the way though, something's terribly wrong...Who would dare to throw anything to such a huge band like Iron Maiden?

/skeptic

munky_magik 08-22-2005 08:48 AM

So, an eleven year old kid has been missing around my area for a few days, 4, I think, and the Police have now found a body. :-/

actually if you listen to the soundclips of bruce's rants, he is very professional about it, but sharons rant is completely childish and immature. Bruce handle the situation very well, despite the fact that there was obvious pre planning by someone involved with the fest (i mean come on, how the hell are you going to get 3 dozen eggs into a show, save them for hours, when security is tighter than airport security, plus when the guy was on stage waving the american flag around during the Trooper and the bouncers basically did nothing. Yeah, real spontaneous  )

In the last picture, she looks kind of like she tried to bite into a lemon.

Baby's are interesting in that it's a joyous occassion when they're born, but in the next couple of years, they become the overlord of everyone and everything within earshot.

My family actually had to give our first dog to a family friend when I was a baby because of me. My shrill voice and tendency to rip out large handfuls of his fur turned the poor dog into a nervous wreck within a few months. I hope for the sake of your aunt and uncle that little Charlotte doesn't feel quite so destructive as my siblings and I did.

My grandma has three dogs and my aunty has one, so lets hope she doesn't take to ripping out their hair. She will be the overlord of everything for ages (I just wish she'd waited till after my exam results :p) but I'll be glad to have a cousin that knows me while it's growing up. I've got about five other cousins who I see once a year and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to mould someone into my likeness. It's like ready made minions. ;)
