Vicarious

123 with the albums but I really don't like Right In Two. It bores me for some reason.

Kage 06-10-2006 02:40 PM

Sounds awesome AJIG. Dredg, Deftones, Tool, Townsed, Opeth all in one? Holy shit.

And, yes, Dredg live =

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-10-2006 02:44 PM

Speaking of, I saw Radiohead on the 5th. That was absolutely incredible. I doubt a concert will ever be that good.

One Groovin Clown 06-11-2006 11:12 PM

I'm just waiting for Tool to go on their "main tour" if thats what you want to call it. They came to Vancouver during the Lateralus tour so i'm hoping they'll be back.

JamJar 06-12-2006 12:35 AM

Download Festival, UK

Roo_bass 06-12-2006 10:09 AM
Rosetta Stoned
Stinkfist (full extended glory)
The Pot
46&2
Jambi
Schisim (w/new bit on bridge)
(get sketchy on memory at this point, but I think it was...)
Sober
Lateralus
Random keys/bass/electric pads jam intro
Vicarious
Ænema

Felt a bit crappy bout them finishing 20 minutes early, but I expected a setlist like this from the last. Quick summary before I head back for Day 2 :)

-Rosetta Stoned just exploded as the intro, and pits opened up all around me, which I never expected.
-A lot of n00bs kept singing during Stinkfist, not expecting the extra bit, which was funny
-The whole pit singing to The Pot was an experience
-Schisim's new part adds more chuga-chuga value to the song, and has a pretty nuts drum part by Danny
- The visuals during Jambi ruled
-MJK was pretty sociable with the crowd, but still stayed at the back, dancing like a madman. Some quotes:

"Who out there has lost their shoes?" (some people shout out). "You guys are ****ed then" (re: the morons pissing on the pit floor)

"...speaking of Download, we have a new record out. SOME of you hippies bought it"

Justin was in his England top, and got the crowd going at the end when he pointed to the 3 lions. Adam looked serious as normal, but still played a blinder. And Danny I didnt get a good view of sadly, though I saw his mini fumble when going for the gong on Lateralus (which shook the whole freaking place when he hit it)

So much for 'brief', my ride is late so had more rambling time. As a side note, I met the Deftones, SYL owned so hard (Devin is the funniest man in metal, not question "DOWN MY LOAD!", and Dredg were  in a very good way)

Opeth, Alice In Chains, Secret Machines, Metallica and any other interesting bands today now.

My guitarist went to download as well.

That's a killer set, I'm even more jealous now he's seen Lateralus and Aenema live.

JamJar 06-12-2006 10:50 AM

I'm so excited about seeing Tool live tomorrow. I have no idea who is supposrting. The setlist looks really good.

Adam Jones is GOD 06-12-2006 11:17 AM

London show people unite. Excitement is re-building after friday

clearvision 06-12-2006 11:21 AM

Fuck off, you cuntrag.

In other news my maths exam was fun... :(

Adam Jones is GOD 06-12-2006 11:29 AM

Our thoughts are with you. I honestly think Tool will be back for more UK dates during the next tour stage. Although this depends on what sets they play.

And its not nice to lie, math exams are never fun

Futuro 06-12-2006 02:19 PM

Wow I just saw a video where adam breaks his 6th string.

Also WTF Vicarious solo is on bass!?

got tool? 06-12-2006 03:03 PM
Wow I just saw a video where adam breaks his 6th string
What video is that?

nowitzki 06-12-2006 04:05 PM

Tool's set at Download festival was simply amazing, I'm tempted to say it is the best live show I've ever seen. They were the band I was looking forward to most, and they delivered 100%. I was so moved by the music, there were tears in my eyes at times because I was into it so much.

There's a solo in Vicarious? Which part? The one that starts in D, then goes D# and after that I can't remember?

Kage 06-12-2006 05:57 PM

That's what I thought. It does sound like bass, but a really weird one.

He breaks string, and yeah jake that solo is that video as well.

EDIT: The guy who filmed it sings really bad haha.

menikmati 06-12-2006 10:06 PM

I'm gonna have to wait for the next tour.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-12-2006 10:17 PM

That doesn't sound like a bass at all. Weird. But neat, I guess.

And uh, I'm not going to watch videos. /slow

One Groovin Clown 06-12-2006 10:18 PM

Justins hair in that video is pretty damn sweet. It's a curly version of cousin it :P

Txus 06-12-2006 10:21 PM

Nice vid

Duman 06-13-2006 03:18 AM

That's a really cool video. I love it when they deal with things like that in such a great way. The way he just comes in for the main riff is just too awesome. The guy recording though..

nowitzki 06-13-2006 05:46 AM

Hell yes, just got hold of a ticket for tonight's show in London, I'm seeing Tool again :D

Thought they had no support act?

nowitzki 06-13-2006 07:19 PM

Tool were amazing again tonight. There was no support band, and the set was a little short again (the same set we got at Download minus The Pot plus Right In Two), but incredible while it lasted. There was also a really cool drum solo from Danny.
While the festival performance was amazing, indoors gave it a whole different atmosphere, and the light and video shows seemed all the more impressive.

Darkness 06-13-2006 07:33 PM

What's with the screwy updates (more then normal) on Toolband?

JamJar 06-14-2006 09:25 AM
Thought they had no support act?
On the ticket it said plus special guests, but there wasn't a support. It was a really good show but I really wish that I was seated. I was behind a total giant and there were three people in front who kept hogging the water which was passed out. I was about six people from the barrier. Also I thought that they really shouldn't have started with Rosetta Stoned. They need ed to start with something whihc would be easier for the crowd to get into the show. Overally the highlight was definitely the encore and Aenima was totally amazing.

I stood a bit further back, where it wasn't too crowded, you would have got a great view there seeing as the floor slopes upwards at the back (but then again me being 6'4" seeing the stage is never really a problem :p ). I wasn't too fussed about being right up close, seeing as was right near the front at Download, and the place was roasting hot.

Matter 06-14-2006 05:11 PM

For the hell of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir-w0SoPSs0

Samm 06-14-2006 05:18 PM

I've just got back from seeing TOOL at the Hammersmith Apollo (London, UK).

I was say it was incredible but I don't feel that quite captures how I felt about the Performance. I don't remember the exact order but here was the Set List.

Stinkfist (opener, extended version)
Jambi
46 & 2
The Pot
Rosetta Stoned
Schism (with double speed bridge)
Sober
Intension (alitte)
Right In Two
Lateralus
Vicarius
Aenima (closer)

The extension in Stinkfist was ok, but the double speed bridge in Schism was awesome. Danny was just going nuts. I wasn't at the front but pretty damn closer and was watching Justin intently between heavy headbanging.

They could have gone into a 2 hour jam session, for all I care, AS LONG AS THEY PLAYED LATERALUS. It was so incredible, I was almost in tears.

Prince of Darkness 06-14-2006 05:21 PM
For the hell of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir-w0SoPSs0
Is that you?
Pretty Good!

menikmati 06-14-2006 06:26 PM

I would actually kill someone if it meant Tool would play Lateralus too me.
