Well here's a rundown of what each album is like:
Opiate: Old school ep, grunge-ish sound but you can see their progressive roots Undertow: Darker hard rock with a nasty, corrupting, dirty, feel to it Aenima: Alot cleaner and more modern rock sounding, hard rock with alot of progressive element to it Lateralus: Straight prog rock emphasizing ambience and emotion |
Lateralus: Straight prog rock emphasizing ambience and emotion
And has a song with a one note riff, that has alot of time changes. :p

Ahh...the first riff I ever tabbed out. |
I feel like whoring my band around a bit...
..So go here everyone- http://www.myspace.com/citbgow It's a project of mine, it's me doing everything. Feedback is appreciated. Everyone I've showed it to has liked it so far. And I'd say I've exposed about 40-60 people to this band, with my excellent whoring skills ;) |
Hey Moses did you just send me an e-mail?
MT - Listening now. |
I'm not sure, is it about a free smiley shirt?
You get a free shirt if you send it to 5 or more people. |
Ok, it was just a little fishy.
I really like Mormons and Ramens a lot. The sound of the song is really good. I don't usually like music like this, so good job. |

.....I'm a sap.
I also want a t-shirt. Golden Leaf Moment is really awesome, I actually thought that should have won the DM comp last time. Brian, you definately know how to make chaotic music. It's inspiring to know like-minded musicians. My entry for the prog metal competition is somwhat in the same mind frame. |

I thought it was too boring. So I'm gonna instead put samples over that beat thing, and yeah.
.....I'm a sap. I also want a t-shirt. Luckily, everyone notices that. Because most the responses I get from my CD are "That was insane!!!" or "Wow! that's really crazy!" Pretty cool. |

Yeah, MT, I was very impressed with your stuff. I don't think I'd ever heard anything you'd written before, so I was kind of taken aback. Great stuff.
|
:D
I love hearing that from people. Thanks you guys. |
Well, what kind of music are you into? When uploading albums, I try and use the cd by the band that has some type of assosciation with bands that the person already likes...
I like classic rock, blues, some prog, a little metal, classical, some experimental stuff, etc. The threads I post most regularly in in R&M are Porcupine Tree and Opeth for example. And Bob Dylan is my idol. I'm open to whatever album someone thinks I might like. |
What do you think you'll like?
For most people Aenima is the best starter.
Well I've heard Lateralus has some awesome proggy concept where you play the songs in a different order and get a different storyline or something, so that intrigues me, plus I dig all the songs I've heard from it. |
Sombody get the man Lateralus!! STAT!!
@ Brian, You should check out my old entry for the prog rock comp. It's really bad quality, and the drum tracks I used suck, and I did it in about a week, but that's ok. Here's the crappy one: http://tinyurl.com/8f97a Here's my new one that I'm working on for my band: http://tinyurl.com/84b4m |

It's pretty trippy sounding. And the sound actually adds to the goodness of the song in my opinion. And the riff at 4:15 is pretty cool also. Though it sounds like a song, just not sure which one... :/ I'll check the other one out right now. |
Cool. Thanks alot. I love when people give good feedback on my songs.
|
guess who got two of his friends hooked on tool???
that's right, me. |
I don't discuss Tool with my friends unless they're already into them. If you push the band on people, then they'll think of you as one of "those" fans, because rest assured they will have been given the treatment before. One of my friends even thought I was a fanboy when he found out I liked Tool, but I knew he would probably like Undertow if he heard it.
I couldn't say anything though, but I think the mere fact that I usually know a good band when I hear it had intrigued him enough to check out that very album. And he liked it! So yeah. |
Tool is really hard to introduce to someone. They have to find it themselves most of the time.
|
the best way to introduce someone to Tool or any band is to give them a cd, or a burned copy. This way they can listen to it in their own space, and not feel like ur pushing on them or that you're just a fanboy.
|
The "one note riff" song with "a lot of time changes."
I've heard that "new tool single" joke, but I'm wondering what song they're making fun of. Is it Lateralus, cause that's all I can think of. |
That'd be The Grudge.
|
Does anyone know of Tool's plans for the future? Albums? Tours?
|
At the moment it seems as though the new album will be release some time in mid '06. Thats about all we know.
|
Tool is not that kind of band with 'hit - singles'. the only hit tool song i think would be 'sober'. the other songs sound better when you listen to the whole album.
|
Still hoping for an upload :upset: I hear their live shows are pretty nuts.
|
I'll check the other one out right now.
Check it out yet? |
