Prince of Darkness 06-08-2006 06:15 PM

I've changed my viewpoint on the album a bit. I now like it A LOT. I bought it yesterday so now I have the original of this great album. What I've realised:

1. The filler tracks are really nice this time. Previously they were unlistenable, but these ones, like Lost Keys and Lipan Conjuring are nice.

2. Rosetta Stoned, Intension and Right in Two are good songs. At first(a month and a half ago) I thought that the bottom half of the album was utter sh!te compared to the likes of 10 000days(wings pt2) and Jambi, but I was wrong. They are amazing. Although Rosetta Stoned has some reused riffs from Aenima, it's ok. It's a nice story and fun to listen to.

3. If you haven't bought the album yet or you aren't planning to, FUKING BUY IT NOW. The album packaging is just so cool. The stereoscopc lenses are really a wonderful thing with the artwork. even my mom likes it. It really is the best cd casing to date and for a good price considering the price for a normal cd case. So buy it.

There it is. This album is amazing.

I dislike both Viginti Tres, and Lipan Conjuring.

Chris Pennie, nice.

Darkness 06-08-2006 08:04 PM

I still don't know where I rank the Tool albums... I know 10,000 Days easily beats Undertow and Opiate, but it gets hazy after that... but I think Lateralus is still number one.

New, off-topic revelation:

'My Name is Earl' is the best show on TV, second only to 'LOST.'

AC?
Sorry, this isn't exactly my business, but it had the same initials as my band, so I was really curious when I saw that :p

And to anyone in here that wanted a demo for Animal Cruelty, I couldn't send them out, because I'm a dick and I bought Mars Volta CDs instead, and kinda forgot about those demos.

:/

But here's a link to download the whole CD that we were gonna send out, and I'll definitely get the real CD to you eventually.

If you want, spread this link around, it can't hurt.

I was almost wondering about that. :p

Anyways, Here's how rank the songs of 10kd and how I rank Tool's albums

Rosetta Stoned
The Pot
Intension
Right in Two
Vicarious
Jambi
10,000 Days

Fuck you filler.

Here's my album ranking:

Lateralus
Ænima
10,000 Days
Undertow
Opiate

In my own opinion, before 10kd came out, there was a large gap in quality between Ænima and Undertow. Now, 10kd has seemingly bridged what was once a huge jump in quality with a bit of mediocrity by Tool's standards.

Adam Jones is GOD 06-09-2006 01:03 AM

Everyone says 10k days is Lateralus part 2. I consider it to be Neo-Undertow.

My last post before I set off for Download, and lose my Toolginity

(and now Dredg and SYL dont clash anymore, I can see all the bands I wanted to :))

While I see none. I blow my nose at you. Brit.

And regarding 10kd being Lateralus pt. 2 or Neo-Undertow, I think that they're are flashes of all of their previous albums, which in turn creates a new sound. A sound that is overall less calculated and less refined than what I was hoping for their new sound to carry.

Damn me for having high expectations.

hey dudes & dudets who here isnt a major fan of Vicarious, this song is plain awesome, the drum fills in it are fan'FRICKING'tastic! Danny kicks some real ***, so anyone else like it?

Correcto :thumb: .

My order for 10K Days;

Wings pt1 and pt2
The Pot
Vicarious
Lost Keys and Roseta Stoned
Jambi
Right In Two
Intension
Lipan Conjuring
Virginti Trees

Kosmos Tree 06-09-2006 03:28 AM
What was the setlist?
If i remember correctly:
Lost Keys
Rosetta Stoned
Stinkfist
Forty Six & 2
Jambi
Schism
Right In Two
Sober
Lateralus
Vicarious
Ænema

They also played a variety of Intros and Interludes which really added to the atmosphere; one was an awesome drum interlude by Danny Carey which showed why he is one of the best drummers around.

PeEpHoLe_10 06-09-2006 03:34 AM

I dont think i like that setlist very much.

There's nothing wrong with it, silly.

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-09-2006 08:32 AM

Aenima is so much better than 10kd and Lateralus...it's not even funny. Aenima was a brilliant cd and the other 2 were just very good. The only song that I absolutely love from 10kd is The Pot. Rosetta Stoned, Jambi, 10kd, and Vicarious are decent though.

Huber 06-09-2006 08:50 AM

IMO, I can't really choose between 10k Days and Ænima. Lateralus is definetly my favorite of them all, but for the 2 spot, I can't choose between those two.

Quoted for truth. Aenima and 10k Days are brilliant in different ways, so it's too difficult to choose a favourite. Lateralus on the other hand is just a master piece.

Edit: I think Ænema is my favourite song though :\

Shadius 06-09-2006 02:24 PM

Tool are playing Download as I type.. I'm so jealous, my mate just rang me minutes ago and I caught the end of Stinkfist (I think) and the first 4 minutes or so of The pot.

SWEET AS FUCK. So those two were definately in the setlist, not sure what else.

kurrpt 06-09-2006 02:35 PM

my favorite album really seems to change based on my mood, and what i feel like listening to at the time

randomthought9 06-09-2006 02:39 PM

Albums: Aenima>Lateralus(barely)>10,000 Days>Undertow>Opiate

10,000 Days songs

Wings For Marie/10,000 Days (I consider them one song)
Right in Two
Jambi
The Pot
Rosetta Stoned
Vicarious
Intension

I agree, except i hold the three on the same level. Undertow was certainly very good, but i feel that Lateralus, Ænima, and 10,000 Days are all masterpieces. For me, it just depends when I listen to them, what mood i'm in, and what significance the songs hold for me at that time.

Rosetta Stoned
Stinkfist (full extended glory)
The Pot
46&2
Jambi
Schisim (w/new bit on bridge)
(get sketchy on memory at this point, but I think it was...)
Sober
Lateralus
Random keys/bass/electric pads jam intro
Vicarious
Ænema

Felt a bit crappy bout them finishing 20 minutes early, but I expected a setlist like this from the last. Quick summary before I head back for Day 2 :)

-Rosetta Stoned just exploded as the intro, and pits opened up all around me, which I never expected.
-A lot of n00bs kept singing during Stinkfist, not expecting the extra bit, which was funny
-The whole pit singing to The Pot was an experience
-Schisim's new part adds more chuga-chuga value to the song, and has a pretty nuts drum part by Danny
- The visuals during Jambi ruled
-MJK was pretty sociable with the crowd, but still stayed at the back, dancing like a madman. Some quotes:

"Who out there has lost their shoes?" (some people shout out). "You guys are ****ed then" (re: the morons pissing on the pit floor)

"...speaking of Download, we have a new record out. SOME of you hippies bought it"

Justin was in his England top, and got the crowd going at the end when he pointed to the 3 lions. Adam looked serious as normal, but still played a blinder. And Danny I didnt get a good view of sadly, though I saw his mini fumble when going for the gong on Lateralus (which shook the whole freaking place when he hit it)

So much for 'brief', my ride is late so had more rambling time. As a side note, I met the Deftones, SYL owned so hard (Devin is the funniest man in metal, not question "DOWN MY LOAD!", and Dredg were  in a very good way)

Opeth, Alice In Chains, Secret Machines, Metallica and any other interesting bands today now.

randomthought9 06-10-2006 01:02 PM

Lucky you! I'm jealous, I've always wanted to see Tool live.
