Wootz.

My Sigur Ros shirt came today, finally, two months after ordering it. I'm pretty happy :D
Very cool...I love receiving stuff in the mail. I'm waiting on an Opeth CD right now. Should be here any day now.

What does the shirt look like? I'd like to have a Sigur Ros shirt.

Darkness 11-01-2005 07:11 PM

Which one Kage?

That's an awesome shirt. Inifnity1 has a great selection, but unfortuanately, it usually takes them a long time to ship.

Otherside 11-01-2005 07:33 PM

Thanks :D

But yah, their shipping is a bitch ><

Not as bad as my Mars Volta shirt though, it was rare one that was out of production, ordered it from some small shop in California before two months before school let out last year, got it right before school started this year. Bleh.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-01-2005 07:50 PM

So I just recorded a few riffs of mine that me and a friend will hopefully be recording on his near professional(\:D/) recording gear this week. The first thing he told me when he heard it was "Porcupine Tool." Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but yeah, take a listen, then tell me how lame and simple it is. I recorded it in about 15 minutes, so that explains the clipping and sloppy playing, but it's just a taster anyways.

Mm, something tasty is the song I'd like a bit of feedback on.

Otherside- Kewl shirt. :)

Spiritofmosa 11-01-2005 07:54 PM
I saw them live last June at a local club. It ruled beyond belief, they're much different live than on recording.
yeh i was wondering how they sounded live .

does anyone have the self titled album, how long is it?

Otherside 11-01-2005 07:57 PM

Nice recording Jake, I would actually call it Tool Tree or something, as I can definitley hear more of a Tool influence.

Darkness 11-01-2005 08:04 PM

Very Toolish, nice work.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-01-2005 08:07 PM

Anyone of you more mathematically inclined folks- Could you tell me what time sig the distorted riff is in? It sounds off to me, and I like it. :-D

Dude3 11-01-2005 08:13 PM

I was just looking at a friend's(my crush) Myspace, and seeing if we had any music tastes in comment. Knowing that she liked Sugarcult and the likes, I didn't expect too much, but then I saw The Mars Volta! I haven't listened to them in a while. I never really gave them the chance, but I am quickly getting addicted to them.

Sounded like 3/4 to me.

/is probably wrong.

BlindWriting 11-01-2005 08:46 PM

Nice work.

The distorted riff is in 11/8.
Three counts of three and a count of two.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-01-2005 08:50 PM

Ha, I'm so necromathhXc. :p

I thought The Mars Volta were very "underground," for lack of a better term, but it turns out that I know quite a number of people who are into them.

BlindWriting 11-01-2005 08:52 PM

TMV have had a lot of support on MTV with their past two videos. They're definitely not underground, but they're still one of the best new bands around, and a personal favorite of mine.

Diggin' the Widow huh?

YDload 11-01-2005 09:09 PM

The Widow isn't even that great of a representation of their sound. It's just the only song from their new album which is short enough to be a single.

Yah, but he posted a Myspace bulletin with the lyrics in it

I would probably say Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt is the best over-all example of their sound.

BlindWriting 11-01-2005 10:46 PM

I love Deloused, but Frances The Mute still stands among my top five favorite albums ever. There is just... so much there. I can't even begin to describe it.

ThePatient 11-01-2005 11:50 PM

Definetly not "underground" anymore. FTM debuted at something like #3 on the charts. Some people saw that as killing the band. I for one, don't care.

misunderstood 11-01-2005 11:53 PM

TMV is great. Both albums are amazing but I personally prefer Deloused. The songs that actually got me into them was ''Inertiatic" and 'Televators'. I saw them live back in March...awesome show. So much energy.

I haven't listened to a great deal of Tool recently, gonna try revitalise it.

I got a sign to do this though.
This morning when I'd just turned my alarm off to go back to sleep I was kinda half dreaming, half awake and the funniest shit was happening in my head

Then all of a sudden Lateralus came on and I was like :thumb:

So I figure I'll spend more time listening to my dear Tool :)

Okay, to give this some point. Have any of you ever had dreams which relate to a band?

Dude3 11-02-2005 02:59 PM

I know, but its the song that got me into them. And even though it dosen't represent the capability of their sound, I think that song is beautiful.

Turkish 11-02-2005 03:07 PM

I had a dream with Henry Rollins reciting Bottom to me once.

Kage 11-02-2005 03:10 PM
Okay, to give this some point. Have any of you ever had dreams which relate to a band?
All the time. Usually it has to do with some gross disillusionment, so I'm glad I get to wake up from them. I can't remember anything specific right now.
FTM debuted at something like #3 on the charts. Some people saw that as killing the band.
Yeah, that's new

Anyway, would someone care to upload/AIM a Tool album to me? I have a bunch of their songs, but I know they're one of those 'album-only' bands.
Mistergroovy1023@gmail.com, or Mistergroovy1023 on AIM for trading.

Moses 11-02-2005 07:54 PM

????

Never seen you in here......

/gives warm welcome

I'd upload stuff but YSI is sucky to me right now.

Otherside 11-02-2005 07:55 PM

Well, what kind of music are you into? When uploading albums, I try and use the cd by the band that has some type of assosciation with bands that the person already likes...

I had a dream where Kurt Cobain just appeared next to me while I was on the computer and taught me some song
