That's their electronic album, isn't it? I've not heard it, but I've heard that it's a trip-hop album (or trip-hop-ish). If so, you want to get yourself some trip-hop.

PIGS(1 different one) 09-26-2005 05:31 PM

I'm looking for more European Meldodic Death with power choruses like In Flames...

anyone know any good bands?

ArcLite 09-26-2005 05:35 PM

The only thing that I could throw at you for this is Mors Principium Est. Check out their album "The Unborn" if you're not already familiar with them. Not quite the same chorus style as In Flames, but as close as I can get with my music collection. And an excellent melodic death band no matter how you look at them.

kidthatplaysguitar91 09-26-2005 05:38 PM

i have a suggestion of a band thats probally not that popular, metal church

Tony McAlpine stuff...

Someone recommend me some Death by Stereo and Dropkick Murphys?
can anyone recamend any good grunge bands besides puddle of mudd, nirvana or nine black alps?
Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Green River, Supersuckers, Dead Moon, The Melvins, Gas Huffer.

A lot of those bands are pretty underground i don't know if they have any stuff online or anything. I used to really be into grunge back in the middle school days :)

My friends are into Dropkick Murphys, and if there is an album called "blackout" or something like that, then get it. That is their favorite.

/not sure if that's helpful.

I highly recommend this band to the fans of somewhat heavier music. They're awesome.

this thread is not for randomly recommending music, read the first post ;)

Can anyone recommend me stuff like Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd(specifically the guitar style, I'm guessing blues...)? I would really appreciate it.

Do you mean with a similar tone? Or just that kinda slow-blues guitarish stuff? I could probably recommend something, that's my favorite type of music.

I'm sure you've heard Echoes right?

Of course, I have all the Waters-era Floyd CDs. I guess the slow-blues guitarist stuff then, I just listened to it for the first time in a while, and I forgot how much I loved it.

I want to know a GOOD metalcore band

nantucket 09-27-2005 11:05 PM

Classic Rock Bands

Some of the better 'obscure/non mainstream' artists that definatly need a checkout (you've probobly heard of quite a few):

Mountain
Grand Funk Railroad
Poco
Blind Faith
Blue Cheer
James Gang
The Allman Brothers Band
Traffic
Ten Years After
Canned Heat
Buddy Miles
Johnny Winter
The Marshall Tucker Band
MC5
Procol Harem
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Vanilla Fudge

That took a while, so +rep would be appreciated.

Cheeto-t, I'm not sure what you've heard already, but I think Unearth is one of the better ones. Trivium is good too. They're more straight up metal than metalcore, though. The vocals take some getting used to. I like Killswitch engage, too. Good vocals and riffage, but some people complain about how the lyrics are semi-emo. I don't care.

Huber 09-27-2005 11:20 PM
I want to know a GOOD metalcore band
Including some NWOAHM bands:

Lamb Of God
Shadows Fall
Trivium
Between the Buried and Me (Metalcore amongst many other things)
As I Lay Dying
Byzantine
Avenged Sevenfold (old)

I included those first 3 bands because they are called Metalcore sometimes, and I think anyone who would like those metalcore bands would like them too.

For something similar to Bodom try Norther and Kalmah.

For something similar to Arch Enemy try Dark Tranquility and Arsis.

Drunken Viking 09-29-2005 09:43 PM

What's the heaviest band without screaming, yelling, type vocals?
What's the heaviest band without screaming, yelling, type vocals?
Try some Candlemass and other Doom stuff.

For Candlemass check out Nightfall. It's more Iron Maiden (like) vocals.

PepsiMetal 09-29-2005 10:28 PM

Sweet, thanks. I'll check that out. I love maiden's vocals too, so should be good.

Bartender 09-30-2005 03:47 AM

And if you like Candlemass, check out Solitude Aeturnus.

Try Soundgarden as well! They were the better half of grunge anyway imo.
What's the heaviest band without screaming, yelling, type vocals?
It actually depends on how your perceive heavyness. I would say Nevermore as a lot of their riffage is pure death metal while the vocals remain clean.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm thinking it is. I'm looking for some light, spaced-out stuff in the vein of 'Subeterrenean Homesick Alien' by Radiohead. Cheers.

You could also ask in Alt/Indie..there are several users there who I think could easily recommend half a dozen albums to you on the back of Subterranean Homesick Alien.

Okay, I'll look over there. I wasn't sure if I should've put the question in here or over there, I'll give a try over there though. Thanks.

Bartender 10-01-2005 08:08 AM

Their What I've Been Diggin' Lately thread would probably be a good place to ask, as pretty much everyone looks in there from time to time. Just link it to the end of a post about what you've been digging :)

Sorry I can't suggest anything myself, by the way.

Get Rust in Peace, Peace Sells and Youthanasia. Those are the best I think

Whatever you do...DONT GET "RISK". Worst metal album ever (imo).
