A Goonie 01-14-2005 11:26 AM

I just got You Enemies Friends - You Are Being Videotaped... getting into them

Doctor D. 01-14-2005 03:59 PM

Zappa, that song seriously haunts my dreams.

pinkyeti 01-14-2005 05:19 PM

Zappa, knowing of Schnappi makes you the arguably best-informed indie nerd ever in my eyes.
No joke. Now, may I ask where you heard from it?

YDload 01-14-2005 05:25 PM

I've been talking about my three X-mas albums for a while, but now that I've finally received them and listened to them all, I have to say that I am amazingly astounded with all of them. I went 3/3 in album enjoyment, so hooray for that.

Minutemen- Double Nickels on the Dime
Primus- Frizzle Fry
Iron Maiden- Iron Maiden

I still can't pick one album over the others; I need a few more listens. But now I have a lot of basslines to learn, because these three albums are chock full of the low end.

Zappa 01-14-2005 05:27 PM

We listened to it 5 or 6 times in German class this week.

I don't know how that qualifies me for indieness, though. It's number 1 on the German charts.

Jimmy_The_Exploder 01-14-2005 06:29 PM

On of my friends lent me some Belle and Sebastian and i'm hooked, they're too nice..... also been checking out the blood arm who are really good and dresden dolls....... :thumb:

NineBitFable 01-14-2005 10:19 PM

Aw man... I just rediscovered Gish from the Smashing Pumpkins.

Where did it ever go?

Also been listening to random SY albums and Isnt anything by My Bloody Valentine.

biografiend 01-14-2005 11:37 PM

Murder by Death are very lovely.

Bartender 01-14-2005 11:50 PM

Aren't they just.

I've been mostly listening to OK Computer, Leviathan and The Silent Circus today. Can't say I have been digging The Silent Circus, though.

br3ad_man 01-14-2005 11:59 PM

oooOOOOooo Bartender is listening to Radiohead! All three of those albums are great.

Bartender 01-15-2005 12:03 AM

Yeah, OKC was on sale, so I picked it up. Trying to break my streak of disliking Radiohead. It's better than previous experience would have made me think, for now.

I really can't get in to The Silent Circus very much, though, and that's been getting the most play of the three by far over the past 36 hours or so (trying to see what all the fuss is about, and so on).

br3ad_man 01-15-2005 12:11 AM

I love that album, I guess it just works for some people and not for others, maybe in the same way I cant understand the fuss with Tool.

Bartender 01-15-2005 12:17 AM

Yeah, I know, I've been reading the review of it in real time :) I just can't stand the death metal parts of the album, which unfortunately is most of it. It's just awful :-/ Especially when combined with the lyrics, which don't flow at all, it's horrible. I'm going to spend longer listening to it before I make a real decision though. It's not all bad, there are a few moments which are really good, but that just kind of makes the fact that the rest of it is bad worse.

In better news, Leviathan I thoroughly enjoyed. I also got Loveless just the other day, but haven't had time to listen to it past the first track yet. Excellent first track, though.

br3ad_man 01-15-2005 12:43 AM

Woah, Bartender picks up the goods! I like the death metal parts but it's not really on the standard of something like Cryptopsy.

wheelz 01-15-2005 06:30 AM
It makes me feel good when I see that band mentioned in this forum...
Weezer - Pinkerton (Half of it, actually)

Iris 01-15-2005 03:59 PM

The Ashtray Girl 01-15-2005 04:03 PM

Iris! You're back! I was worried sick...

To prevent this being a spam post, I've been listening to a lot of stuff like The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim today.

ATM 01-15-2005 04:22 PM

I thought I'd get into the classics more so I picked up Funhouse by The Stooges, for it's $6.99 at HMV. It's mighty fine so far.

Bartender 01-15-2005 08:09 PM

I'm watching the Tsunami AId live concert thing on webcast. Most of it's kind of okay, but India Arie and Stevie Wonder just did a song, which was awesome. So I'm digging the memory of that, while John Mayer is playing something.

Tapeworm 01-15-2005 09:20 PM

I heard a Frames song on the radio before and I loved it.

And Grandaddy and Love Outside Andromeda are being broadcast live on JJJ this afternoon ay 5, so I'm looking forward to that.

A lot.

I can't say I'm much of a fan of Razorlight's album, it gets boring. But "Stumble and Fall" is a really good song. I love M83 as well.

oliveri4string 01-16-2005 07:31 AM

i've been "digging" razorlight lately, also got heavily into my old faith no more albums and metallica, quite a variation really

graaaaaaaa

sweboy 01-16-2005 09:04 AM

Tapeworm 01-16-2005 09:48 AM

I just realized after a week that the strange song that The Faint played on sunday night was a cover of Talking Heads' Psycho Killer so great.

robot 01-16-2005 11:15 AM

i've been listening to The Decemberists' "Picaresque" nonstop.

Iris 01-16-2005 09:08 PM

I'm not sure why, but I am heavily into Radiohead at the moment.

YDload 01-16-2005 09:15 PM

Primus! "Groundhog's Day" is such a fun song. I command you all to listen to it! Please?

Zappa 01-16-2005 09:38 PM

Thelonious Monk. I end up rediscovering him periodically. I don't know why I so often forget to listen to him.

pixiesfanyo 01-16-2005 10:02 PM

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotten Vegetables
Damien Rice - O (Thanks to Closer reinspiring me to listen to this album more)
