didn't arch enemy cover aces high?

Lord Abortion 09-17-2004 03:32 PM

Bad idea covering the highest pitched scream in a maiden song
I havent heard the version but if he can get the end scream right then all credit to the vocalist

oh well...
there's a moral to that story don't bother covering maiden if you cant sing it...

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 09-17-2004 05:24 PM

So how did everyone hear get into Iron Maiden.

I was browsing Best Buy one day when one of here albums caught my eye. So I bought it and ever since then they have been my favorite.

Ozzman_666 09-17-2004 05:32 PM

my uncle introduced me to maiden. he aws in a maiden cover band.

so yeah yesterday i went to the music store and saw they only had 3 maiden cd's. so i bought them all haha

YDload 09-17-2004 05:33 PM

Like many new Maiden fans, I heard "Two Minutes to Midnight" on Vice City and was blown away. I was looking to play the bass, and I had never heard a heavy metal song with so much bass in it. I had to have it!

led_zep_luvr 09-17-2004 05:34 PM

how many guitarists are in iron maiden

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 09-17-2004 05:39 PM

It was the first time I heard Hallowed Be Thy Name, I think I listened to that song 5 times in a row, I couldn't get enough! I was hooked, and before you know it I'm collecting all their albums and DVD's. So far I've got CD's Iron Maiden (s/t) to Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, but they have alot of CDs. Best part of Maiden is there no Maiden era I hate or dislike, except maybe the short Blaze era, but even then some of the guitar and instrument work is nice and worth a listen. Maiden forever! :thumb:

Thunder Fingers 09-18-2004 03:17 AM

huh..i dont know how i become that major maiden fan i am now  for about 2 - 3 years ago i used to realy dislike em :p i think i become fan when i burned the "best of the beast" record to hear more of what they where...well, i think it was running free live on that album that made me an maiden fan, becouse i dont realy remember any other songs that far back :p

toolboy84 09-18-2004 03:22 AM

I can't remember exactly it was that long ago. I think I probably heard Run to the Hills somewhere, and thought this is good. I do remember buying Number Of The Beast and loving Hallowed Be Thy Name

It used to be until Blaze left, and Bruce came back and then Adrian Smith came back and they done the Brave New World album with the 3 guitarist.

GurS 09-18-2004 05:45 AM

i heard "bring your daughter" on kerrang, and thought it was ok... but then i heard "run to the hills" on the same channel, and was amazed - i went out and bought 'NOTB', and was blown away. I've been hooked since.

originally- Dave Murray and Dennis Stratton (iron maiden)
the classic years- Adrian Smith and Dave Murray (killers-seventh son...)
the 90's- Dave Murray and Janick Gers (no prayer... - virtual X1)
the full lineup- Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, and Janick Gers (brave new world- ? )

Bruce wouldnt come back in the band unless Adrian came back as well, which i think really helped get the "true" Maiden sound back, as Adrian is such a big part of their sound.

Lord Abortion 09-18-2004 03:40 PM

copying my mate's Number of the beast album...
hallowed be thy name. no words express how good that song is...

non-conformist 09-18-2004 04:13 PM

i accidentally said to my friend one day about 3 years ago "i like iron maiden so much" (i meant to say "iron man" by black sabbath"), then a few days later, he buys me Killers for my birthday :smoke: been in love ever since :smoke:

Lord Abortion 09-18-2004 04:23 PM

ahh killers...
another life is so good

Hardest_Rocker 09-18-2004 05:51 PM

My first Maiden song was Caught Somewhere in Time, I adore the beggining. I like Paul Di'Anno's voice but Bruce is good too.

Caught somewhere in time is one of my favourite tracks (although my fave track changes every time i listen to them!), i just love the solos! they are like 6 and a half days long! fantastic song. :D

I think that both Paul and Blaze have got good voices, but to me Bruce is the voice of Maiden, and if I hear any Maiden that isn't Bruce's voice, it just doesn't give off the same impact.

yeah listen to Bruce singing Prowler or remember tomorrow from Paul or Sign of the cross from Blaze it just sounds more like Maiden

i don't like twilight zone that much, dunno why, best on that album are drifter, title track and prodigal son (i'm a sucker for the 12-string acoustic).

but the first album is better.

ThrashMaster27 09-19-2004 08:54 AM

****ing hell! heard my first Maiden song when I was 10. It happened to be Can I Play With Madness, which I still love. Oh yeah, Frail, I ****ing love Drifter man! it's a classic.
