PIGS(1 different one) 05-02-2008 03:37 PM

masscows 05-02-2008 03:38 PM

They could open for a band whose fanbase is generally (more) intelligent (than your average fanbase) and open-minded, maybe Converge? That'd be cool.

kattunlover69 05-02-2008 04:13 PM
Usually they dont say in interviews. Let's just say that if you think the bands they play with suck you're not alone.

Rody did however say, concerning The Devil Wears Prada, "bad band based on a poopty movie based on a poopty book" or something along those lines.
"Devil wears Prada....wasnt a good book, wasnt a good movie, wasnt a good band....opps....joking....alittle"

I have to say that devil wears prada was a good movie imo though

to the post above: Ima have to say that converge fans might actally boo em off the stage worst then Limp biskit or dragonforce fans did....

Shred Danson 05-02-2008 05:06 PM

Converge fans post on lambgoat. They're supposed to be assholes.

James46n2 05-02-2008 09:45 PM

Hey, James is the epitome of cool.

Yeah, it was at the mod club. It was awesome.

Edit: Cocaine or anyone else, did you go to the Protest show at the Sound Academy?

Benzilla 05-09-2008 03:39 PM

Am I the only one who doesn't mind These Colours Don't Run? I was spelunking through my music when I came upon the only two older songs I have from PTH, These Colours and I Am Dmitri Karamazov and the World Is My Father.

The only thing I find kind of annoying is Rody's old nasally voice.
Hi my name is benzilla and i just wanted to bump the thread.
Tyler 05-09-2008 03:43 PM

I Am Dmitri Karamazov is the strongest thing they've ever written, lyrically and musically. I got tired of These Colours really fast. It lost it's appeal every time I saw them perform it (which is the only time it was really enjoyable for me anyways) and it's just painfully preachy and such. I Am Dmitri is ****ing elite as **** ***.

And nah James I didn't go. No guestlist, no thanks.

Benzilla 05-09-2008 05:10 PM
...
Actually, I was genuinely looking for some input.

Xplisit 05-10-2008 11:55 AM

I saw these guys at the Kool Haus, when they were on tour with TDWP + 2 Canadian bands, Silverstein and Ill Scarlett. I'm assuming Protest had something bad to say about each of those bands, since you know, they don't sound like Protest.

Anyways, they're a good technical band.

I enjoy "These Colours.." as well. It was the first song I heard from them. Then I forgot about them until I kept catching the last bit of the video "Blindfolds Aside". "I Am Dmitri.." is awesome as well. I enjoy the entire CD really, it's nice to go back to the "old school" Protest from time to time.

James46n2 05-11-2008 01:13 AM

Ah alright, was just wondering about how the Sound Academy gig was, considering Rody sounded like a big bag of *** at much music. I wanted to go but didn't end up being in TO by then. I guess I'll wait till, like, September or something.

I totally support the Dmitri Karamazov love. The song's ****ing brilliant, I still listen to it every once in awhile. I've mostly abandoned ACUOS, though. It's what originally got me into the band, but, ****, they've grown up since then and I have too. If I listen to it, it's half for nostalgia. I think Soft Targets is still a pretty damn good song, too, despite the fact that it doesn't really fit with the rest of the re-release. These Colours Don't Run - it always was fun live, but they've retired it for good reason. I think the only people who still request it live just want to seem cool for being 'old school' Protest fans.

I finally got ahold of the instrumental version of Fortress today. Yes, I know I'm late to the party. Only listened to it once, but it's very cool to listen to. I find myself singing the vocals in my head while it's playing, but it's awesome 'cause you hear some stuff (esp. bass, syths) that you don't normally hear.

It was good as far as I know but his voice was just as shot then.

Yeah, and everyone knows real old school fans request Asperity of Sin or Just Defy. Silent Genocide as well. On that ultra serious note, I'm still bummed I missed the show where they retired Just Defy, way back in 03. Now I hear the Dungeon is closing (or not holding shows anymore)...so sad.

Bread and Faxes 05-11-2008 01:36 AM

they are pretty sick

Sequoia Throne owns my ball hairs

Siberian Dreamer 05-23-2008 03:55 AM

Missed them every time they've come over to the UK, but they've just been announced as part of the Never Say Die tour:

PARKWAY DRIVE - www.myspace.com/parkwaydrive - (Epitaph)
UNEARTH- www.myspace.com/unearth - (Metal Blade Records)
DESPISED ICON- www.myspace.com/despisedicon
ARCHITECTS- www.myspace.com/architectsuk - (Century Media)
PROTEST THE HERO - www.myspace.com/protestthehero
WHITECHAPEL - www.myspace.com/whitechapelmetal - (Metal Blade Records)
CARNIFEX - www.myspace.com/carnifex - (Victory Records)

Parkway Drive are fail but pretty big over here. I will be enjoying PTH, Despised Icon and Unearth, though.
ARCHITECTS- www.myspace.com/architectsuk - (Century Media)
PROTEST THE HERO - www.myspace.com/protestthehero
Only worthwhile ones mentioned imo

Pastorius 05-23-2008 06:52 AM

Architects are decent but a little samey for my tastes. Saw them supporting Sikth and I was bored by the end of the set.

big80smullet 05-23-2008 07:42 AM

lol parkway drive

illpressureurhinges1 05-23-2008 02:24 PM

I like Parkway Drive...

I want to see Protest The Hero so bad. Architects would probably be pretty cool too.

That's a bad@$$ tour except for Parkway Drive.

Tyler 05-23-2008 03:31 PM

Haha, I totally told Tim to call Architects a few months ago when they were trying to figure out who to tour the UK with.

Dimmu Burger 05-23-2008 03:44 PM

Good job dude!

Tyler 05-23-2008 03:54 PM

I'm sure I had nothing to do with it I'm just saying. That's certainly a better tour than being with Bullet for my Valentine or Silverstein. So what if most of those bands are gay, they're getting close.

Dimmu Burger 05-23-2008 04:02 PM

Really Architects is a good band for them to tour with, and there aren't many bands that I would put them with.

Tyler 05-23-2008 04:03 PM

I just mean Whitechapel, Carnifex, Despised Icon and Parkway Drive are all really ****ing lame.

Dimmu Burger 05-23-2008 04:13 PM

Parkway Drive is, but I enjoy the others on occasion.

James46n2 05-27-2008 10:00 AM

They're probably be pretty stoked to be playing with Unearth.

Check out this Protest Stalker site.. if for some reason you want to see a lot of pictures of them as kids:

Wow that site is terrifying. I'd seen all those kid pictures before but the stalking of their girlfriends is just...wow

Yes. But it really looks like there's as much slander as there is creepy stalking going on here.
