']SoH is too slow mate. You say it's your favourite album then go on to say your favourite guitarist is the one in Slayer who plays fastest and with least melody.
Ouch, easy man. Jeff is my fav. guitarist out of the 2 because he has more melody. That's just a basic fact that's been established here many times.

Kerry is a more creative songwriter but Jeff has got more skill than Kerry.

Anyways if any ppl need to get into some good slayer take butchers advice as well as mine. Go buy Hell awaits and for those that want the full taste of slayer and money is no problem, buy their $60 boxset (they also have $100 one but that's just overkill unless you're a fanboy like me). There's 2 cds full of their best stuff over their entire discography plus another cd and dvd with unreleased songs and concert footage. Save up and enjoy.

Bloody Knives 02-09-2006 03:44 PM

South of Heaven maybe my favorite album but I didn't say that I didn't like the fast stuff. I've bought all there CDs (including the box set) and while SoH is my favorite album there fast stuff is what I really like.

Dead Skin Mask is still one of the best songs they've made though.

Also Jeff has more melody then Kerry by a long shot.

Recently SoH has been my favourite album. Dissident Aggressor has been stuck in my head.

I want to get haunting the chapel but I don't want to pay $10 for just 5 songs. Hey doesn't that album have spirit in black on it? If so, then I guess I just might buy it anyways.

You know that is a Judas Priest cover, don't you?

Those 4 songs are worth the $10. They are some of the best Slayer has ever written. Also, Spirit in Black is not on that. That song is the third song on the Seasons in the Abyss album.

Oh and for all you that keep saying that South of Heaven is too slow. You can go shove it, because it's really not.

Oh, I didn't realise. I seriously need to get some more JP.

It's not really that it's too slow. I just like more of their faster material from SNM, HA, and RIB. There are some fast songs on SOH: Silent Scream, Ghost of War for example.

Crysiss 02-09-2006 08:06 PM

Man i love the stories they tell sometimes.

Jeff: "This kid came crashing through the stage. We all thought he was dead. I thought he was dead, but his head poked up and started headbanging afterwards"

Tom: "This kid came to the show and he was bleeding pretty bad and i think both of his legs were broken. The paramedics came and picked up. The kid said 'can you take me later? i wanna watch the rest of the show' Than the paramedics said 'no man, we gotta take you now' Than the kid goes and says 'well can you bring me back?' (Laughs)

According to Jeff, I guess him and Dimebag got into a fight. Or that's what they think, during the Extreme Steel Tour, Pantera and Slayer all got extremely plastered. The next morning Jeff had a knott on his forehead and Dime had a black eye, but no one could remember what happened.

BLS_Infernus 02-09-2006 08:43 PM

If they got into a fight, who do you think would have won? I'm betting Dime but Jeff is a bit bigger then him so I don't know.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-09-2006 08:50 PM

I like SOH, though it's the Slayer album I have listened to the least.

Seasons was my first Slayer album, I think that is the best one to start on. It has half RIB style songs, and half SOH style songs.

I listen to South of Heaven quite a bit. It's my second favorite Slayer album. Hell Awaits I listen to the most. That one is definatley my favorite. I actually picked up Reign In Blood as my first Slayer album.

I still remember that day like it was yesterday. Good Times.

Crysiss 02-09-2006 09:38 PM

I havent bought a slayer album yet, so i don't have a favorite album. I only have the DVD

The one at the Warfield or "Still Reigning" ?

Not much news... but still news

From Slayersaves:
Rumors are flying around that Slayer will be back on the road in the United States starting early this summer...more info when dates start to leak/confirmed. Slayer's last U.S. show was on December 17th, 2004 in Universal City, CA.
Slayer's newer material may suck, but when ever they come to my city, I'll go see them.

I'm Charming 02-13-2006 10:19 PM

Here's my cover of Raining Blood.

Jackson JS30 played through a marshall amp. amp into my laptop using Audacity to record.

I recorded in a couple parts, so bear with me... I didn't edit riffs together 100%.

I liked how you changed up the

000-000-000-000-etc etc part after the intro. Though I wasn't crazy about your guitar tone.

Thanks.

I literally forgot to change the distortion.

I should have lowered the contour alot. So it had that old feel.

Yeah what I did with that riff was,

The 000-000-000-000- part except on the
-------------3-2
--------3-2
2-4-2

I double picked the 3-2's.

Bazarov 02-13-2006 11:23 PM

I'm currently still trying to perfect my rythm for playing The Antichrist. I got down the rythm and second solo.. but it just doesn't feel perfect.

I want to learn some stuff off Show No Mercy.

Black Magic would be a good one. I'd like to at least learn that main riff in Postmortem, if not the whole song.

Skelotons of Society or War Esemble, I'd like to learn those.

Nostalgia 02-14-2006 02:30 PM

Season and south of heaven are quite a like I think. Seasons was a great album, it showed different tempos and they still maintained a brutal tone. Most people say SoH was a failure and so called "hardcore" fans were dissapointed. The album was great, showed a different speed and the lyrics weren't to shabby either, good riffs overall. Reign in blood and Hell Awaits are way way better IMO.

Im trying to get the solo on Die by the Sword cleaned up.

Bazarov 02-14-2006 03:56 PM

Upload it when you get a chance.

Poofy 666 02-16-2006 08:38 PM

I don't have school tomorrow so I'm gonna try to get my camera to work

Bazarov 02-16-2006 10:10 PM

Awesome. You don't have school tomorrow? That's cool, though I prefer getting Mondays off.

Anyways, the rumors have come true. Metallica has dropped Bob Rock and got Slayer's old producer Rick Ruben. Hopefully this will be a good change for Metallica. Also Ruben is supposed to be like co-producing Slayer's new album.

Wasn't he the guy who did Slipknot's Vol:3?

Anything will be better then St Anger. :p

Bazarov 02-17-2006 03:01 PM

I don't know what Slipknot album he did. But yeah he produced one.

Bazarov 02-21-2006 08:22 PM

BUMPITY

My guitar is in shop, getting regulated so I was sitting around and decided to mess around with my 7 stringer. I've uploaded me messing around with At Dawn They Sleep.. just a few parts of the song.

The Feeding 02-23-2006 02:23 PM

yeah, i don't play guitar but South Of Heaven and Angel Of Death have killer riffs. As a drummer i personally like playing Spill The Blood, because i can't play Lombardo's double bass!!!
