  Nice work So I saw The Allman Brothers Band live at the Tweeter Center tonight. The jam band moe. opened, and they SUCK. Their set lasted about an hour and I literally think they played three or four songs. It was brutal. But the Allmans were great. They didn't do "Ramblin' Man", "Whipping Post", or "Midnight Rider", but their performance of "Jessica" was kickass. They got the Rolling Stones' piano player for the tour (or at least tonight's performance) and he sure can tickle the ivories. |

I'm not a big fan of jam bands period but once in a while it's alright. NP The Tea Party - Psychopomp |
Sup dudes
Went to the Dark New Day/Crossfade/Seether concert tonight. First concert I've been to. Started at 8, Dark New Day opened, they were pretty good, their songs kind of sounded the same though. I remember once when the drummer was flipping his sticks in the air; he dropped it, flipped the crowd off and played the rest of the song with his hand. He was pretty cool, definitly the best member in the band. Crossfade was next, but my girlfriend and I only stayed for like 5 songs. This bitch behind us kept screaming really obnoxiously, and we were getting tired anyway. I didn't see Seether, which was the only band I had heard of, but besides that, it was pretty sweet. |

That bassist they have now that plays the six string is a beast. I saw a jam session of the Allman Brothers on TV on MTV Jazz, and they had Derek Trucks on rhythm and Vernon Reid of Living Color on lead. Quite amazing. And the bassist scatted this solo right as he played it on his bass...incredible. |
The Allman Bro's are like Moe. on insane mode.

Ugh. I'd forgotten why I tried to avoid getting into Iraq war debates for a while. Maybe I should stop going into the politics forum.

What is there even left to debate? We've lost. This should be painfully clear to anyone able to read headlines. |
Oh? What happened?

There are those who would argue that the war was justified. And that gets my back up every time. I assume you're familiar with Tway. I respect his intelligence, but I honestly can't see how he believes that George W. Bush intended only the liberation of the Iraqi people, therefore putting him in the right in declaring the war. |

I've usually only seen him disagree with people when he's trying to goad them to either higher heights of stupidity, or when he wants a user to do a better, more thorough job of explaning his case. You're "getting your back up" and he's messing around with that. I've seen him go against Bush numerous times on numerous issues, and also I've seen him express conservative viewpoints. |

Ah. Makes sense now. I only sporadically come into the board. I'm trying to keep myself cool, but this is just one of those subjects that gets me incensed since I feel so strongly about it. |

I'm the opposite. When I get angry I rant forever. |

I wish I knew who it was. And Vernon Reid...that is an underrated guitar player. I don't get too riled up about the War on Iraq because really, there isn't a damn thing we can do about it. |

Just a random thought for you all.
About a week ago, the word "mate" was officially banned from Parliament house, following a complaint by an unnamed department head that the security guards were disrespectful in calling them "mate" rather than "sir" or "ma'am". In a backflip worthy of Allana Slater, Johnboy himself said that it was purely "unAustralian" and overturned the ruling within 24 hours. In fact, both sides of parliament raised such an uproar that it made national news. :p Basically, the word "mate" is the great leveller of Australia. There is no discrimination in calling someone "mate". It can be applied to everyone, male or female, friend or foe. And it's probably one of the most famous Aussie words we've ever uttered. Basically, you could even say it is the reason why Australia is relatively less screwed up than other countries. What do you blokes think? |

They are amazing. My friend has one of their recent dvds (I can't recall the name), but yes, that bassist is a beast. I wish Derek Trucks was more emotional though. |
oteil brubridge is a monster. trucks plays with emotion. i was most impressed with him when i went to see them.

yeah, hes not a mover. amazing player though. |
Oteil is ****ing awesome, my dad and brother got to see him in a little bar/restaurant the year he joined the Allmans, but I was too little to go :upset: They got an autographed copy of his solo CD which I have now taken possesion of :)
And yea, none of the Allmans are very active on stage, the most you'll get is Warren Haynes making funny faces during solos. |

I can educate you on the Dutch language if you want
Here is all you need to know to speak dutch: step 1) Learn German step 2) get real drunk step 3) speak German with a canadian accent One thing we noticed out in germany was that the dutch language sounds exactly like drunken canadians speaking german, it is hilarious to listen to with that in mind. No offense to you dutch people who are lurking about. |
