you know what, I'm going to try to learn potrait of tracy right now... even though I suck at harmonics/life and have always avoided them...

good luck , i kinda get ADD when im learning something new , so i only learn the first few riffs then get them really fast and forget theres a awhole nother part to the song

how did Jaco ever come up with the idea to write Portrait Of Tracy? just the idea of writing a song of (pretty much) only harmonics, and how did he make it sound so good?

He was the pioneer of harmonics, my guess it was just awesome experimentation. And it was for his (first?) wife, I think.
