PoS don't really sound cheesy at all to me (Though Ashes and Stress do come to mind)
If you want to have a good idea of the band listen to Undertow... such raw emotion. |
I listened to Pain of Salvation for a few minutes and hated it. They sounded to me like a cheesier (yes, it's possible) Symphony X.
 What did you hear? They don't sound anything like Symphony X. Wtf?
I know, he has tendency to come off like he knows more then anyone on the forums.
I admit that.
Although you really should try to listen up to it.
Yeah I know there's dissonance but only a short time.
considering the frequency of those "type" of responses, I am led to believe that only a percentage of that is "kidding"
I'm in a kidding mood. I didn't mean that you were nothing if you didn't listen to the whole thing. It was just kind of a way of me admitting that I couldn't change your mind. |
thats what im saying chief, i believe only a percentage of those statements were you "kidding" and i believe there is still some underlying truth to those statements
|
Well of course there's a part of me that thinks you're being too skeptical but I know I can't change your mind, and that's why I joke. I just forgot the smiley.
|
thats fine...
i choose not to take that extra step myself |
Sometimes PT reminds me of The Beatles...
NP: How Is Your Life Today.- Porcupine Tree |

I guess it doesn't really sound like Symphony X, but a lot of prog-metal kind of stuff sounds really cheesy to me. |

NP: How Is Your Life Today.- Porcupine Tree
I love that song!! ... We should get a name for the 10 000days/viginti tres/wings synch song. I like '10 023 Wings' |
23,000 Wings.

Maybe A Trace of Blood is an okay example but try somthing like Fandango, Undertow, or Chain Sling. PoS isn't really metal save a few parts. |
winner

Eh, not once has either of those songs felt cheesey (probably because there's actual meaning to the songs rather than what I usually associate as cheesey eg Dragonforce lyrics) to me but I suppose that's your opinion.
23,000 Wings.
Winner indeed |
Sometimes PT reminds me of The Beatles...
NP: How Is Your Life Today.- Porcupine Tree
That particular song reminds me of music from Kubrik movies, particularly A Clockwork Orange (yuck!). |

Now I'm playing Russia on Ice. |
RIP EDSEL
Edsel passed away at around 8:10, Sunday, May 14th. He was buried next to his buddy MO. from Toolband.com wtf? |
Ugh, does anyone wanna write a descant for A Mighty Fortress Is Our God for me? I have composition lessons in 3 hours.

Mo was the one pig who adorned the Undertow album artwork. I believe it was Mo, Edsel and now only Portis. How I know all this? I have no idea...i'm a sad person. :p |

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but here is a video of Maynard performing with his old band:

That's hilarious.
|
I'm on Tool Withdrawl for a few weeks.
I've listen to nothing but 10,000 Days and Lateralus all week. Now time to unwind with Meshuggah and Dire Straits. |
Hey Tool guys I think you need to check this out:
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=23344&FID=3 This sounds totally amazing but I don't have the album. |
Old news man, we've been talking about that since yesterday.
That said, it's pretty frickin sweet. |
That's pretty old, actually.
|
Oops sorry! Darn I thought I'd be the cool guy here for today.:upset:
|
sorry days like that are reserved for me everyday and for Moses when he posted that sync mp3
|
Of course, Moses wasn't the one to bring it to the forums.
|
Hmmm?
|
It was some crazed fanboy.
|
Yeah, he looked really far into things, like conjugating the title of LaTeRaLus, haha.
|
Nah I meant Moses was the coolest for putting the song on YSI since I don't have any of the songs on my computer(I bought the album :O)
|
Yeah, he looked really far into things, like conjugating the title of LaTeRaLus, haha.
...funny you say that, some of us regulars did that about 1000 pages ago. |
...funny you say that, some of us regulars did that about 1000 pages ago.
No but just the way he said it, I found it to be hilarious.
. I didn't know if you people knew this, but I thought I'd share it just in case - la te ra lus Take the "made up" word "Lateralus" . Notice how the letters are separated into groups of two? The last letter S is tacked onto the previous group Each group relates to a chemical symbol ---------------------------------------------- LA: Lanthanum TE: Tellurium RA: Radium LU: Lutetium S(last single letter): Sulfur Greek & Latin Meaning -------------------------- Lanthanum: From the Greek word lanthaneis (to lie hidden) Tellurium: From the Greek word tellus (Earth or Beneath) Radium: From the Latin word radius (light ray) Lutetium: From "Lutetia", the ancient Latin name for Paris(often called the "city of lights") Sulfur: From the Latin word sulfur (hellfire or brimstone) After conjugating the verbs and whatnot: "Lying hidden beneath the light of Paris is hellfire." Given Tool's almost obsessive interest in the aspects of "Rennes-le-Château" and it's connection to the ancient Paris meridian, I think it's fair to say the album title is significant.. .
|
Yeah, all we did (I think..) was:
LA: Lanthanum TE: Tellurium RA: Radium LU: Lutetium S(last single letter): Sulfur |
Nah I meant Moses was the coolest for putting the song on YSI since I don't have any of the songs on my computer(I bought the album :O)
I am the coolest aren't I? Anyway, The Pot is the best song on 10,000 Days for me right now. |
Anyway, The Pot is the best song on 10,000 Days for me right now.
Same for me...and it sounds awesome live! Not that I've experienced it yet :upset: ..just recordings going around the net. |
Did Moses sync it up right? I thought Wings part 1 was supposed to be synced first? Or did I misread?
It sounds a little weird to me... I'll need to listen to this back home to get a good idea of it because my system here is terrible. The vocals at the end remind me of the Schism/Parabola DVD commentaries, which leads me to think maybe the band thought of this. Slightly overlapping yet sounding cool, the rest of it I thought sounded weird though, especially parts with the Viginti Tres being really loud... Maybe if someone mixes it well it would sound amazing and I listen on a better system. |
^^
The mix does in fact go Viginti Tres/Wing for Marie Pt 2 ------------- 10,000 Days Yeah, I reckon this has been in the brew for ages. I mean their little prerelease of Schism and Parabola was a sort of haha, look out for this on 10,000 Days, but cleasrly you wont be expecting it, or seeing it the day you buy it. |
did any of you bellends realize that Roseta Stoned is 11:13 also?
|
Rosetta Stoned is 11:11 on my watch...
