Ok, no more spam right???

So i tuned my newly fixed guitar down half a step and played fade to black

good times

heavy metal kid 10-04-2005 08:08 PM

I don't like how the standart tunned Metallica's songs sound when they are played half step down.

Two steps down sound cool.

smart blockhead 10-04-2005 08:20 PM

do you guys prefer thrash metallica(kill em' all-ajfa) or hard rock metallica(black-present)?

Chu 10-04-2005 08:22 PM

Thrash

JonG 10-04-2005 08:22 PM

Heh. Just me, but there first 4 albums I loved. AJFA was one of my favorites, because I like progressive. Kill 'Em All is probably my second. It changes a lot.

Britton 10-04-2005 08:27 PM

I like everything except Load and Reload

What's the new guitar Joe?

clairvoyant 10-04-2005 08:36 PM

Definitely thrash.

But Load has a few good songs.

Huber 10-04-2005 08:38 PM

I enjoy it all, but I gotta say I like the thrash stuff more.

Britton 10-04-2005 08:42 PM

Thrash owns!

I want a new album!!!!!!!! get with it guys

Hawkhead11 10-04-2005 08:56 PM

I heard they were in the studio back in Feb 05', but havent heard anything about it lately, theyre pretty good at keeping stuff secret.

Huber 10-04-2005 08:58 PM
I heard they were in the studio back in Feb 05', but havent heard anything about it lately, theyre pretty good at keeping stuff secret.
They better be. I'm sure if anything of their's leaked they'd be incredibly pissed.

They should pull a Tool. Don't give any news on it's release at all until about two days after it's the album is in stores.

smart blockhead 10-04-2005 09:31 PM

I'm with you guys I prefer the thrash. I do have to say that some of the thrash type stuff on AJFA is a little weak. The first three albums are definitely their prime.

What album do you guys like the best/least production wise? I think MOP sounds fantastic but AJFA sounds like paper-thin garbage. KEA doesn't have the best production but it has that raw feel.

metalmilitia101 10-04-2005 09:35 PM
do you guys prefer thrash metallica(kill em' all-ajfa) or hard rock metallica(black-present)?
i prefer thrash, although i wouldn't use those terms for all of their albums from kill em all to and justice. however, thats just saying i like thrash BETTER than the more hard rockish metallica...i absolutely adore some of their hard rock songs like my friend of misery, aint my bi tch, fuel, the unforgiven I and II, i disappear, wherever i may roam, and basically every other song cept for some of the ones on st anger...i don't especially like those so much.

What term would you use for the first four albums then?

metalmilitia101 10-04-2005 09:45 PM

kill em all...thrash, ride the lightning...mostly thrash but then you look at songs like fwtbt or ride the lightning or fade to black and they're not true thrash really. master of puppets - same...thrash but now we're getting into a bigger ratio of exceptions like thing that should not be and sanitarium and crap like that. then ajfa is more metal with songs like ajfa, blackened, pretty much all the songs.

PepsiMetal 10-04-2005 09:47 PM

Thrash is definetely better than their load/reload stuff. Black album probably has the best production or possibly st. anger.

I haven't listened to SA all the way because of how awful the songs are.

PepsiMetal 10-04-2005 11:59 PM

I like saint anger. It is definetely a good improvement for metallica from load/reload. Although at first I did think it was annoying especially with those drums, but I got used to them by now. Listening to st. anger CD in a car kicks ***, those drums really do sound pretty good with standard mazda protege stereo. :p

Paul_13 10-05-2005 02:19 AM

St Anger is great, but then again, i havent really heard much metallica i like ride the lightning

Thor 10-05-2005 05:26 AM
St Anger is great, but then again, i havent really heard much metallica i like ride the lightning
I'd be more than happy to help you out with some decent Metallica. Do you have AIM?

Father_Jack 10-05-2005 06:24 AM

The one thing letting St. Anger down was its production. Although I agree, black album had the best production. And Thrash > All other metallica stuff.

Jev 10-05-2005 09:04 AM

I've never thought about the production of Metallica albums except for AJFA. But don't bring that back up plz.

metalmilitia101 10-05-2005 09:15 AM
I've never thought about the production of Metallica albums except for AJFA. But don't bring that back up plz.
yeah its a gay question - it really doesn't matter all that much.

Jev 10-05-2005 09:44 AM

It's been discussed to death in here too.

Enlighten Me 10-05-2005 10:06 AM

Every album has it's own unique sound, i really like Ride The Lightning.
The only problem i had production wise was St.Anger... the drums muffle everything else out and it really does take alot of getting used to, yet there is something raw and powerful about the drums.

Jev 10-05-2005 10:08 AM

The production on St. Anger was really iffy.

Enlighten Me 10-05-2005 10:38 AM

And about another album coming out... i just can't see it being good or similar to their old stuff... metallica is dead :(

Jev 10-05-2005 10:40 AM

I think it'll be worth buying. Metallica always is.

metalhead_matt 10-05-2005 11:35 AM

metallica aint dead yet. i agree with what you said about the drums in your previous post, but we just gotta wait for their new album.

i just hope they dont do another reload type album, it was good, but it wasnt metal.

Jev 10-05-2005 11:50 AM

I hope it's metal but that probably won't happen.

fenderbender89 10-05-2005 11:58 AM

It is NOT going to a Load or Reload or a St. Anger it is going to be a good album.
Maybe same tuning as St. Anger (Drop C) but that doesn't matter.
what matters is that they take there time with the new album and make sure that it is what they all want.

Solos is not a problem Kirk can still solo very good and fast but he said for St. Anger that he wants to try no solos.

I heard one new song maybe not from the new album but it has a good solo in it.

If Kirk wants to solo let him we just need to wait for the new album to find out if he does.

:)

Jev 10-05-2005 12:07 PM

Lars told him not to solo. Plus he covers everything with wah. I hope it's not in drop c, and I hope you're right about it being good.

im sick of wah. i hope he has a new metal tone for his solos. if he doesnt have solos in the new album, i may cry :upset:
