g-night mx

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 11-15-2004 11:25 PM

Well, in a month and a half i will have been playing for a year. I also decided today that i want a new bass.

Spaceman Spiff 11-15-2004 11:35 PM

am i the only one that has not been keeping track of how long they've been playing?

i got my bass around winter-spring 2002, played quite a bit for not too long, then stopped for quite a bit of time as i lost interest. then i started playing again in winter of 2002-2003 or something, so i've been playing for almost 2 years since then, but had my bass since early 2002.
i don't know any exact months or days or anything.

Spaceman Spiff 11-16-2004 12:05 AM

i just finished my work, now it's bed time.
nighty night mx.

Hey All

Two exams down, I have three left. Then I'm free. Pity my mate had to cancel (or postpone) his after exams piss-up because we both have job interviews.

Spaceman Spiff 11-16-2004 10:41 AM

howdy all.

i will be seeing Megadeth in under 12 hours.

neal_672 11-16-2004 10:45 AM

Howdy, i'll be asleep in 12 hours :thumb:

Have fun at Megadeth though hope it's a good gig :thumb:

Spaceman Spiff 11-16-2004 10:48 AM

On Saturday November 13, 2004, this world lost an incredible man. Though the official cause of death is unknown, it was most likely some sort of heart failure as he was not the healthiest man.
On this day the world lost Russell Jones. Also known as the one and only ODB, Ol' Dirty Bastard, of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Rest In Peace Ol' Dirty Bastard.
:(

neal_672 11-16-2004 10:52 AM

Yeah i heard about that, not really fussed about his music, but it's always sad to hear about someone dying...

Spaceman Spiff 11-16-2004 10:55 AM

yeah, i kind of like Wu-Tang, and although he didn't have anything to do with them anymore, it's a shame he died.

he was a crackhead for a portion of his life, that being partly what i meant when i said that he wasn't healthy.

anyway, RIP.

neal_672 11-16-2004 11:00 AM

Yeah, possibly drugs that caused his heart failure, autopsy is supposed to take a week though...

Who's supporting Megadeth Spiff?

Spaceman Spiff 11-16-2004 11:03 AM

Exodus are the openers.

some other band was on the tour for the first couple shows, Earshot, but the dropped off. i've never heard them, so i don't really care.

i'm so excited about tonight.

Yeah definitely, i mean i'm not a huge fan of Megadeth but it's bound to be good, they've been around long enough to make themselves good live!

I went to see Lostprophets on Sunday :D not quite of the same type of music, but i thought they were great nonetheless. And the bassist was slapping  i was so surprised

Spaceman Spiff 11-16-2004 11:06 AM

cool.

anyway, i gotta go back to school, i won't be back on here until tomorrow i don't think.

later mx.

My thoughts exactly ah well...

Anyone getting anything interesting this Xmas??

Foxfire 11-16-2004 12:04 PM

Well, my birthday is 12 days before Christmas, so my parents tend to add that to what I get for Christmas. :p

For me, hopefully a drumset and some effects...hopefully a couple hundred dollars to go towards a custom or something.

Dunno.

neal_672 11-16-2004 12:06 PM

Wow not bad, got your eye on any particular brand of custom??

Foxfire 11-16-2004 12:08 PM

Dave Pushic.

At the current moment, he can do my dream four for about 1300 if I include the Piezo. If I drop the Piezo, I can get it for about 1000, maybe 950...

Of course, if I can get it for a thousand, I might push it up to a 7-string (which would make it about 1400). Thus, it'd be better than a Buddha Sig and it'll be priced less. :p

neal_672 11-16-2004 12:14 PM

Wow it's alright for some  Never heard of Pushic actually got a link? and btw: Piezo?

I'm getting a BTB406 and a Big Muff Russian, that'll do me fine for the next year or so :thumb:

Foxfire 11-16-2004 12:17 PM

Piezo: easiest explanation I can put it (even though it's probably blatantly wrong) is that it's a type of bridge that picks up the vibrations of the strings at the bridge, and amplifies them, which gives it more of an acoustic tone. I realized that I don't need this tone.

neal_672 11-16-2004 12:20 PM

Ahhhh right i getcha, a 7 string sounds cool, i was gonna get a Conklin GT7 for £450 but i didn't have the money at the time and it got sold to someone else :upset:

Foxfire 11-16-2004 12:24 PM

I got my GT-7 for 473 USD, love it.

G-string's core got unravelled though. :upset: BEFORE the C and F.

Wow ****, at least it's easier to replace than the C and F though...

Some of those DP basses are absolutely gorgeous, if you ever get one you'll have to post pictures/recordings!

Foxfire 11-16-2004 12:29 PM

Hell yeah. He's an awesome guy too. I'm thinking of getting my bass to look like the single cut 7-string on the last page in his gallery.

Christ that'd be incredible, the ones on the last page seemed to have the nicer finishes in my opinion, but i always love natural wood effect, neck through basses. I'd really like a fretless but i need to save for a new amp, only got a 15w peavey at the moment :upset:

Foxfire 11-16-2004 12:36 PM

Same here. I'd put money into a downpayment now except next week I'm picking up a halfstack.
