I'm bandless, but that's okay. Diversity is cooler than going in-depth into one band.

No, I'm still a heartless bastard, just a heartless bastard that occasionaly sends albums.

JPJ: Give me a good jam band I should start listening to.

Broken Arrow 01-25-2005 06:43 PM
The Kinks=The Beatles to me.
Wow - I disagree totally. The Beatles in my opinion are better than the Kinks in nearly everyway. An by lots.

I don't know, I agree with Woodstock on that one.

Illmatic 01-25-2005 06:47 PM

I like both, but I'm not crazy over either.

What is so good about the Kinks? Any recommended songs?

I think "you really got me" is a fairly good song, but that's the obvious one.

Well, I'm not sure what jam bands you listen to now, but some I particularly like are: Medeski Martin & Wood, Keller Williams, String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, moe., Frog Brigade, Ratdog, Derek Trucks Band, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, and Jazz Mandolin Project.

I guess it depends on what style you're looking for.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-25-2005 06:48 PM

Moe is my new favorite Jam band. :)

Random note: Im just started reading Jerry Garcia's bio.

God, don't go all Badmoon on me. All I listen to now(jam band wise) is the Dead, Allmans, and Mule.

jpj 01-25-2005 06:50 PM

I forgot Galactic, Galactic kick ***.
My cousin started listening to The Band. :upset:

Here's the story on him: He takes everything I've ever done, and starts doing it. I started guitar, he picked it up a month later. I started listening to Classic Rock, he started copying me. He would've never heard of Zeppelin, Floyd, Cream, The Doors, Yes, or The Who without me. Luckily he's only picked the common CR bands. Basically he's a faggot.

Today he tells me that he bought a greatest hits cd of The Band from Best Buy. He's never heard a song by them. I made the mistake of mentioning The Last Waltz in front of him, and it was over. He would've never found out about them, ever, in his life, if I didn't tell him about that movie. And now he knows. Everyone I ask has never heard of The Band (except for you guys), and now my cousin knows them. My life is over. I am actually enraged right now, seeing red if you will. :upset:

On a side note, I rule his ass at guitar, and I will always have that on him.
okay you should not be mad at him, be glad, now you guys have more to talk about. Just because he starts liking something cuz of you doesen't mean u gots to be hatin on him!!!!!!

Keep it real and stay fresh...

I'm listening to Hendrix's cover of "Like a Rolling Stone". It's odd, I loved the original because of all the instruments thrown in, and yet Hendrix' simple cover is great too.

/I had to kick out the jams and bring up an interesting artist

jpj 01-25-2005 07:00 PM

What? Galactic is certainly interesting.

No, he can't either.

Broken Arrow 01-25-2005 07:10 PM

Jimi>Bob at singing.

clown_phobia 01-25-2005 07:11 PM

John Mellencamp's cover of Like A rolling Stone is the best in my opinion.
