alex can shred like wild man hes craZy but that drummer needs to get interesting
You idiot. Get outta my thread.

*Alexi for one

Jaska can play very at 200bpm and beyond. He's not fancy , but very solid.

MRDuCran 08-08-2006 08:49 AM

Alexi get more interesting??

I whole heartedly disagree. He has some of the most mind blowing solos imo. Things that aren't bitchingly fast or hard, but the note chocie is spot on. Other times they are bitchingly fast and still sound good.

He's my biggest inspiration for writing and tone and comes in 2nd for for playing.
You idiot. Get outta Mitch's thread.
Yeah, indeed.

Jaundice 08-08-2006 08:59 AM

I believe now is upon the time in which I begin to undertake the task of learning my first Children of Bodom song. I chose Bed of Razors. I chose with little regard to skill level / favoritism. I probably decided on it because I had the chorus stuck in my head for quite a while. Who knows. Blah. This should be fun.

If we are comparing the drummer and Alexi, that is
If we are comparing the drummer and Alexi, that is
imo Alexi is more "interesting" on the guitar than Jaska is on drums. Not saying I don't like Jaska, because I think he deserves alot of credit, but admittedly he does keep things pretty simple, as Dylan said.

I didn't make the point in the first place :P
A drummer just keeps the rhythm, therefore, if anything...Alexi should shape up

MRDuCran 08-08-2006 09:08 AM

I don't get where this is going.

If you took the Jaska away, it wouldn't make Alexi any less of a guitar player. It wouldn't decrease his skill.

tehnub 08-08-2006 09:09 AM

Yeah but he wouldn't sound as good tbh...

Yes he would. I'm guessing you haven't seen Passage to the Reaper, and heard War of Razors, and countless other guitar/keyboard battles he has with Janne.

I've seen Passage to the Reaper and was incredibly unimpressed, I thought he was better tbh :(
but it's ok

MRDuCran 08-08-2006 09:19 AM

Well he didn't write it, it's just a cover and I think he pulled it off really well, both him and Roope, who also deserves credit.

manson667 08-08-2006 06:43 PM

:) i just got their new cd

Are You Dead Yet? is good. Have you heard there older stuff?

If not, I suggest picking up Follow the Reaper and Hatebreeder.

Easiest CoB would be something off of Are you dead yet?. The other stuff is pretty difficult. I have been playing for 6 years and a few passages still give me a hard time.

MudvayneFreak666 08-08-2006 06:55 PM

k thats what i was askin about. how hard is if you want peace prepare for war?
k thats what i was askin about. how hard is if you want peace prepare for war?
The only song I tried to leard off that album was the title track, which is fairly easy. I think If you want peace prepare for war may be slightly more difficult. I'll see if I can find the tab on my computer.

MudvayneFreak666 08-08-2006 07:00 PM

The rhythm is easy for me. The leads I'd need to work on.

The easiest rhythm would be Everytime I Die imo, or something off Something Wild. AYDY has a few tricky riffs and the solos are just as hard as always.

Without being too harsh, if you've only been playing 1 year, you have no chance.

You want links, www.youtube.com. Knock yourself out.

GenuineImitation 08-08-2006 07:03 PM

I looked through it and it has some tricky parts, but nothing you cant get down with some practice. It seems fairly straight foward, but I have been playing for about 6 years. Just take it slowly and dont expect to play it perfectly at first and you shoudl do fine.

I find that by practicing difficult songs, you will become a better player much faster.

MRDuCran 08-08-2006 07:13 PM

The rhythm for Downfall is also pretty easy.
Angel's Don't Kill also.

So is Alexi Laiho like a bada$$ midget?

Well I'm sure that wasn't the best he can do. He looked kinda bored throughout the video

You're crazy. AYDY is by far their most technical album.

Drunken Viking 08-08-2006 10:20 PM

See: Hatebreeder or Follow the Reaper

Shadows Within 08-08-2006 10:28 PM
You're crazy. AYDY is by far their most technical album.
See I keep saying that too those riff's are ****ing hard, where as there older stuff is mostly just power chords....until you get to those bitch leads and solos....

Exactly. The leads and solos are ****ing hard in all of their albums - the only difference is that AYDY has fewer of them. But they've filled in the gaps by adding their most complex rhythm parts ever, so it's definitely their toughest stuff.
