Envy - All The Footprints You've Ever Left & The Fear Expecting Ahead

Robert Crumb 12-14-2006 08:59 PM

I'm making a compilation called I'll Feel Much Better on the Other Side. Artists who died in the past year. So digging a buncha dead suckas.

Robert Crumb 12-14-2006 09:08 PM

If you're like me, it probably won't. He does some nice stuff but I can't really get all that excited over any of it. If it spontaneously combusted, that would be rad.
Faust - Faust IV
Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup

Retarded album name aside, Stereolab are great.
I second this; I recently acquired Tansient Random-Noise Burts and its superb as well.

Happymeal 12-14-2006 09:22 PM

I remember Jellyspoon and his(?) review of Endtroducing on the CD Reviews forum way back when and people here were just getting to know about the album. Ah the memories.

Josephine Foster- A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

Also, silence. Not silence precisely, but the absence of music and talking. Just hearing other things has been very intriguing to me lately.

ATM 12-14-2006 09:40 PM

What's on your mix, Crumb?

Robert Crumb 12-14-2006 09:56 PM

Haven't really decided. I've got my list of dead dudes here and kinda sorting through it. Ali Farka Toure, Syd Barrett, Lou Rawls, Buck Owens, Dilla, Wilson Pickett and Arthur Lee will be there, kinda undecided on particular songs, though.

Abe Froman- "Abe Froman"
Operation: Cliff Clavin- "When Everything's Been Said"

such fun pop-punk.

Tom Waits - Orphans

So good.

Robert Crumb 12-15-2006 04:37 PM

I went to Tower and bought some stuff:

A Certain Ratio - Early
Ann Peebles - The Complete Ann Peebles on Hi Records, Vol. 1
Soft Cell - Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret

I really should have bought more stuff, it only cost $13 for those three. They had pretty much every Felt album. About $5 a pop for those. But I had to buy gifts for other people. Stupid other people.

The Felt CD reissues are horrible, the spines are numbered instead of stating the actual album title. Not sure if they're even worth the $5.

Sonic Youth - The Destroyed Room: b-sides and rarities
Liars - Drum's Not Dead
The Knife - Silent Shout
REM - Automatic for the People

Zmev 12-15-2006 05:40 PM

I was gonna pick up Destroyed Room on tuesday but $19 was way too much for a. myself so close to christmas and b. a sonic youth cd.

Today had been christmas shopping which means in car listening to a mix cd from summer. Cool.

Like last year, I'll be making mixes for my friends again. Mondo cheapness. As for people I hate, this: http://www.amazon.ca/Faux-Fire-Virtual-Fireplace-Chilly/dp/B0006FQFB2 They'll be glad to know I spent more money on them.

A band that I recently found is called Auto Escape

http://www.myspace.com/autoescape

http://www.purevolume.com/autoescape

I love this band, though I must admit that they lack the same energy in the demos then they do live.

JonM 12-16-2006 01:48 PM

Every time I watch Waking Life, I dig the soundtrack extensively for a month after.

Venetian Snares- Winnipeg Is a Frozen Shithole

I guess I can only really get into this album if I'm in a bad mood. But yeah, it's awesome.
