gav have you ever melted sulfur and iron filings together...it makes sulfur dioxide which flames nicely then the iron melts and it remains are ironesque...minus being magnetic...so cool.

It's a guitar tuned an octave down, so it's really a bass.


But it has super short scale, and is tuned EADGBE, so it's really a guitar.

Yes, but there's an intermediary product:

Iron and Sulfur combine to form Iron(II) Sulfide, a salt:

8 Fe(s) + S8(s) + heat --> 8FeS

The salt is then heated so it decomposes:

FeS(s) + O2(g) --> SO2(g) + Fe(s)

That's a metathesis reaction. :p

So yeah...that's how iron ore is formed...one way, anyway...
