Hey Everyone!

If you want to jam online, check out this site:

http://www.infusician.com/jam/jamroom.php

If you're familiar with Ninjam, then you'll like this site. We integrated Ninjam into the infusician site so the jamming application launches directly in your web browser (you won't need to download a separate application or enter server port numbers). You can just start jamming online with other people around the world for free!

My name is David. I'm from Florissant, Missouri (close to St. Louis). I'm 17 years old, turning 18 this August. I've been playing guitar for about 6 years now. My music of choice is METAL! I play guitar & vocals for a thrash metal band called Fateful Hour, by the way we're looking for a drummer. I can also play some bass, keyboards, and drums.

Hello All

Hey guys, I'm a bassoonist and play piano from Nashville,TN yeah.. I know kinda weird but you just need a change from classical sometimes.

I also wanted to let everyone know about this new online venue that launched recently called Blue Comet Cafe. Its cool you can upload videos of your performances to the site and get comments and feedback from other artists in the community. As a musician myself I am really excited that this site has provided another outlet for upcoming artists. I was even able to find people in my area with similar music tastes to jam with. I uploaded a video of my open mic night but you can also upload music videos as well as show performances. I would check it out if you’re looking for a place to meet other musicians and need an outlet for your music.

Anyone tried this?
Seems like some ninjam clone, without having to set up a server.

looks cool, but nobody is there, yet...

Motleyguy 07-10-2008 01:28 AM

Wow... been posting in this section of the forum for a good 6 months now... at least, and I just realized this thread existed.

Seafroggys 07-10-2008 01:46 AM

For me, even longer.....pretty much for at least two years or so.

prettyinpinky89 07-22-2008 10:22 AM

Hey everyone, I'm Cyndy. I'm 18 years old hailing from Chicago. In high school, I sang and played piano/keyboards in high school, but I'm chilling right now. I like rock/pop/punk and R&B

Dr Hooch 08-01-2008 08:07 PM

why does this look like such a good deal all of a sudden? what are the equivalents?

http://www.dv247.com/invt/30065/

vista comatible, you think?

denboy 08-18-2008 05:27 AM

Isn't it funny how if you search google for "broken sm58" you get no results about broken sm58's?

I thought mine was broken, it outputted nothing but noise...
So I search for broken sm58, find nothing, try it again, and now it's working fine?! wtf

p3nnywi5dom 08-26-2008 03:22 AM

I guess I'll do a little intro as well.

I've been on this site forever, but haven't really posted much in the last couple years. I'm currently a freelance engineer at the Beach Studios in Calgary ( http://thebeachaudio.com/Home.html ) and am looking to start up something of my own in the near future.

If anyone has any technical questions, feel free to ask!

edit : Been playing guitar for 10 years, keys for 6, bass for 2, and just picked up my first drumkit today!

Kouari Nokido 08-29-2008 09:04 PM

Hello, everyone. My name is Kouari Nokido (no, of course not, really. But that's what you're gonna call me). I've been producing (if you can call it that,) music for about 3 years, and playing guitar/songwriting/singing for 5. I'm almost 16, live in Surrey, British Columbia (Canada) and consider music an important part of life. I try my best to be good with people, but mainly when music is involved. I'm still not the best with interaction, however.

I recently had the idea that I wanted to help someone. I wanted to find a singer/songwriter that would let me make/mix their original music for completely free and no credits pressure. I just want something to do + someway to practice. I think it would be cool to think of myself as "____'s producer." I'm not looking for fame; I never have been. If you know of or are anyone who fits into my situation, please feel free to contact me or point me in a direction that might help me out.

I hope to get along with everyone and improve with the help of critique and advice. As corny as it sounds, I'm hoping my Sputnick experience will help me mature as an artist.

Same here for like 6 years...

Cramboli 01-17-2009 05:07 PM

So I bought a Shure pg 57 today and got it home to find out that it didn't work so I went back to the store and was like yo this isn't working so they plug it in and find that in fact it is not working so they're like alright lets try this other one and it worked fine but as a bonus for the problems they threw in a mic stand with boom that cost like 35$ itself so YAY me I mean Yay free... Last one of both too... I got to keep the mic cable from the first one too... so now I'm up an extra stand and xlr cable...

PigDestroyer89 01-22-2009 10:52 PM

Is anyone here from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon? The reason that I am asking is because I am in desperate need of a drummer.

Rogue Six 02-10-2009 12:06 AM

what would be a good school to go to for audio production / sound engineering?

Seafroggys 02-10-2009 12:15 AM

Check to see if a local community college has good audio production facilities. I had one here that just opened up a multi-million dollar music facility, blew everyone else local out of the water.

Rogue Six 02-10-2009 12:21 AM

They don't. I'm in Bum Fu egypt. Chillicothe there is a recording school hat is quite good, but I want to make a degree out of it possibly.. and the school they partner with is pretty expensive.
Check to see if a local community college has good audio production facilities. I had one here that just opened up a multi-million dollar music facility, blew everyone else local out of the water.
That happened near me too the only problem is that the profs they have don't know end of the mic to speak in to... Like it's just that bad... "The compressor is used to squeeze the sound into a narrower wave to send it through the the right part of the speakers" -what one of them said when I asked about the specific model they had... They also had stock nady mics and insisted that anything I rendered with Fruity-Loops wouldn't work with Pro-tools. Nice studio though the contractors definitely knew what they were doing so now all the college needs is trained professionals.

blacknumbers 03-22-2009 03:47 PM

Hey guys, my name is...not really going to tell you, but call me blacknumbers, ok?. I don't play a musical instrument, but I do have a taste in music production, as I have music making software on my XPS laptop.

I live in Columbia, Tennessee....but I am not a redneck like everyone else. When I grow up, it's Chicago for me, baby!

bizonapage 04-06-2009 01:31 AM

Hi, I've just registered.
Is there a forum for electric violins?
I would like to share some ideas and resources about them http://sites.google.com/site/silentelectricviolin.
Anyone interested? Thx

Welcome Biz.

Aussiedrummer 05-04-2009 05:28 AM

Hey everyone I am Jess. I drum in a band called 'The P-90's' and we are a relatively new alt/indie band. I am also starting up my own side project were I plan to compose all of the parts myself ie, guitars, bass (some drums, I am limited on equipment) and use some virtual instruments as well, perhaps some drum loops where I can not record my own drums, and then record and mix it all myself (hopefully) I joined this forum to try and learn from all you guys as from browsing I can see that many of you have a lot of knowledge. Once I can start my own thread I will probably ask you all for some advice regarding recording as I have very limited knowledge and have basically only dabbled in it. Thanks guys!!! :)

Aaron 05-04-2009 06:07 AM

Welcome Jess!

Im Joe, I'm 19 and live in Indiana. I'm an aspiring musician and producer. I played the trombone in high school, but now mostly focus on playing drums (4 years). I play in a metal band called "Thousand Days Purgatory." I just started producing about 8 months ago, so im still very new to it. I produce anything from my bands metal, to my father's acoustic stuff, to rap. Lately, I've been producing mostly rap because its the easiest. I would prefer to be able to produce metal but its costs more and is harder to make cleaner tracks (need more mics and more talent).

www.myspace.com/706group

thats my rap myspace...its me and my guitarist. We do it for fun....btw, i make all my own beetz...so don't rag on me too hard.

joe_04_04 is my yahoo messenger - add me because i enjoy discussing recording, mixing, editing, and mastering as none of my other friends do.

Hey everyone i'm new to this site. Kevin, 24 and just moved to brooklyn, new york. i write, sing, and i'm decent with reason. I would love to start a band here. I may have a BS in Game Art but that's just one of my passions. To have a very influencial band is another one.

sdpacman 08-08-2009 01:26 AM

freelance guitarist?

Hey..

I was just wondering...is it possible to find work as a stand-in guitarist for various bands on studio recordings? If so, do these types of jobs typically pay well?

Or are they incredibly hard to come by?

williamthemaestro 08-10-2009 03:11 PM

Wow, as much as I try to familiarize myself with members on this board via posts, it almost seems near to impossible, considering the amount of people on here.

I am Ethan,
a guitar player of 18 years,
guitar teacher of 10 years,
drummer and bassist of 8 years,
and a web programmer of 9 years.

I run an online blog that teaches musicians of all kinds how to develop and sustain inspiration. But I'm not here to talk about my blog, I'm here to give anybody advice about practicing and being more creative, who wants any.

I hope to get to know as many of you as I can and I look forward to contributing to this forum not just for conversation but especially for helping any of you guys out who need it.

Cheers!

- E
