Out of these which would have the most projection, 14" AAX Stage hats, 14" AAX Fast hats, 14" AA Regular hats, or 14" HH Fusion hats?

aznriceball 01-23-2006 12:21 PM

^definitely the stages, as well as being the brightest. the AAs would be a tiny bit more versatile

aznriceball 01-23-2006 12:22 PM
Hey, does anyone know what Zildjians 14" mastersound hats sound like? and if there is anywhere that sells cheapest in UK? And also 21" Sweet Ride (Brilliant)? Thanks in advance
i always thought the mastersounds had such a dry chick sound to em and kind of a glassy dry riding to it. the sweet ride is really thin and washy, awesomely crashable :thumb:

ant_182 01-23-2006 12:26 PM

Awesome Thanks. Would you recomend them? Or is there a similar cymbal thats cheaper? Any cheaper dealers in UK?

aznriceball 01-23-2006 12:29 PM

id highly recommend..err..that u go and try em out. at the very least go listen to some zildjian sound clips. and what exactly in sound are you looking for?

as for money, cymbals last forever if taken care of, so if thats an issue, just save. its much more worth it than 'settling' since you're spending a ton of money anyway.

ant_182 01-23-2006 12:39 PM

Yeh, I'm saving up now :) Because I bought some ZXTs, DONT COMPLAIN! it was 2 months after I had been playing and they were AMAZING compared to my crappy "kit cymbals". and i was totally new to drums and the sound then and I only had £200. Now I prefer to test out stuff. I was amazed when i tried oput the ZXTs, becuase they actually lasted some time, like the crash, was a crash....not a beny peice of metal! I've just been on the Zildjian site and I'm happy with the sound. What should i get first, hats or ride? Cheers!!!

Drum Phil 01-23-2006 12:54 PM

Please dont tell me you picked them because barker uses them

ant_182 01-23-2006 12:57 PM

No, if I was after Barkers set up I'd go for the crashes and oriental Trash too. I'm not THAT sad! c'mon, i just want advice, not arguments or opinions on people. this is a cymbal thread!!!

ant_182 01-23-2006 12:58 PM

Actually I may just go for the Barker set up because it would piss people off hee hee :D

What are the best starter cymbals?

Well cheap cymbals, the likes of Solars, 101s, Planet Z, ZBT, B8, 302

full collapse 01-23-2006 01:48 PM

You think paiste 2002 are cheap? If that's the case you can get pretty much anything you want from any cymbal line besides some of the other paiste lines...

chewaz 01-23-2006 04:22 PM
b8.
Talos 01-23-2006 04:34 PM

Ive found some cheap ones by Wuhan, a 12" Splash and a 12" China

Drum Phil 01-23-2006 05:01 PM

Seafroggys 01-24-2006 12:38 AM

12" Wuhan Splash is a good cymbal, I own it....its splashy :)

chewaz 01-24-2006 01:28 AM

wich would you prefer an AA rock ride 24" or and AA Medium ride 24"??? and why

Cocaberry 01-24-2006 07:30 AM
wich would you prefer an AA rock ride 24" or and AA Medium ride 24"??? and why
AA Medium ride. I think it would be more versatile than a rock ride.

chewaz 01-24-2006 11:30 AM

mmm thanks i looooove big rides, but there is no sample of it on the sabian's site, is it like the Avedis medium ride 24"???

Chrysostom 01-24-2006 12:16 PM

I don't have the money to buy it yet, but I'll ask anyway.

I'm looking (or will at some point) for a china that is trashy, dark and has short sustain, but still has that oriental sound to it. Preferably Sabian (brand whore).

Bloodlust 01-24-2006 04:13 PM

would a AAXplosian crash and AA medium crash sound good together?

20" HH Dark Chinese
18" HH Thin Chinese
would a AAXplosian crash and AA medium crash sound good together?
probably. AAX and AA go well together. the plosion goes well with the AAX stage. same with the AA medium.

saars 01-24-2006 08:54 PM

Here's what I'm thinking of buying:

a seires zildjian 8" OR 10" splash
sabian hhx 17" stage crash
some cymbal arm/clamp to hold the splash...

Comments on these? I also could use suggestions on an arm/clamp and splash size.

Tim 01-24-2006 08:59 PM

just buy a gibraltar arm and clamp for the splash. as for the HHX stage crashes....those are nice cymbals. I would probably get that in an 18inch but the 17s are good sizes too.

saars 01-24-2006 09:06 PM

I'm confused, MF and samash doesn't have the 17" stage crash. =(

can i get a price check on this cymbal?

**looks at prices and mouth drops**

is that 230 USD for a 17"?? oh mother... I only have 260 USD at the moment... not to mention the prices on MF and samash are lower... I think I should buy the crash for now.

FL3P 01-24-2006 09:16 PM

Sorry I had to bring you the bad news.

--kuhn-- 01-25-2006 03:24 AM

I'm looking for some powerful sounding cymbals which will stand up to live playing. I play mainly metal so I was thinking Sabian AAX Metal cymbals. What do you think?
