Wooo Hard Days Night was on Much More Music :) It was quite good...It was a lot funnier than I thought it was going to be. I enjoyed it..although the grandpa made me angry lol
|
Also after watching the movie I've fallen in love with the song "I should have known better" **** its catchy I love it.
|
bcf717 knows more about The Beatles than all of us combined
|
I'm reading the Anthology at the moment, up to page 64 so I am not all that far through it. It is really interesting and a great read, all the chaos of Hamburg and the Kaiserkeller club where they played and about Rory Storm and the Hurricanes in which Ringo was in and how the Beatles improved immensly from playing night and day in Hamburg that when they got back to Liverpool they were a lot better than any of the bands there, Ringo noticed that they had really gelled as an outfit since he first met them and drew the conclusion that they were better than Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.

When I first heard it I was walking through the hallway at my school and I was trying so hard not to spin in circles and click my heals or something. I love how John does that thing with his voice... |
Speaking of people leaving the band, why did Stu Sutcliffe (I think that's his name...) leave? Something about falling in love with a girl? Don't remember for sure.

Did he leave and then die? Or just die? I think they disliked him because 1) He wasn't a good bassist 2) He was apparently extremely good looking |
I couldnt imagine somebody getting kicked out for being good looking...but it was for the best, apperantly.
I picked up Let it Be on Friday, and Im gettin the White Album tomorrow. All the moments in my life have led to the White Album...and now that Ill have it...Ill probably just be bored again and stop posting on these boards for another week until my next CD  I cant wait to get While my Guitar Gently Weeps though. I never hear that song at all |
Speaking of people leaving the band, why did Stu Sutcliffe (I think that's his name...) leave? Something about falling in love with a girl? Canadian Guy; old age has it's advantages.... I grew up while they were still a group. I was 12 in 1969.
Stu Sutcliffe was friend of John's from Art school. No, he couldn't play, but friendship was thick and he had the money to buy guitars from the sale of his artwork. He did meet a girl in Germany. I can't remember her name offhand, but she was a model and did the haircut on Sutcliffe first that would become the Beatle style for the rest of the band. He stayed behind in Germany to be with her when the others returned to England. Sadly, six or so months later, he died from a brain aneurism. |
PS. Don't be scared of me age.... It ain't all that old when you think about it. I make my living as a newspaper photographer and comic book illustrator, which keeps me busy and young. I play a mean bass, can strum a nasty six-string and still have a bit of speed left behind a drum kit. I have two boys (one entering his teens) who are very much into music. I'm doing my best to pass what I know about guitar playing and music to them. Plus I'm learning a lot about the new bands from my oldest. Music is something that no-one can ever take away from you.
By the way, Styx, is making a come-back and releasing a new album of cover songs. They were a band from the seventies through eighties. They do a cover of 'I Am the Walrus.' I've heard it. ( Some radio buddies let me hear the advance disc) It's not bad. Check it out when it's released which should be any day now. :) |
Anyone heard the Anthology version of Ob-La-Di?
I think it's BRILLIANT. http://cdzinc.com/16K/rock/A_B/beatles.html This page, anthology 3. |
Thanks for that site. I just listened to Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da.. it's great
|
I read the Anthology in like 8th grade. I always skip over the page with the two virgins cover....I just can't look at my idol naked
I Should Have KNown Better is such a great Beatles tune....one of their better earlier stuff. |

Sure Joker, I'd be interested in hearing it. bfogletto@hotmail.com
I was more surprised if anything that Styx, of all bands, would do a Beatles live cover version. |
Quicky question did the Beatles write "Twist and Shout"?
No, it's a cover song..

I did Get Back, though, like 5 years ago as a midi, if you want that. |
I recently got a book that had Beatles lyrics and illistrations (sP) to go with them. Very coo.
|
I tried to get The Beatles anthology out of my library yesterday. They didn't have it:upset:
I think I'm just going to buy it. |
There was a local band back in Seattle that did a live cover of Get Back. It was amazing. I'd say it was probably better than the recorded Beatles version.

Yeah Get Back has a great riff to it. It also leaves open a lot of room for improve, like most Beatles songs. That makes them really fun to play |
Is that Ringo who sings lead vocals in "Octopus's Garden"?
|
Yes to the above.
Also, I agree, all of The Beatles' songs could probably be improved upon by covering. The sad thing is, they had the best vocals....so take their vocals and throw in your own instrumentation and you'd kick ***! Imagine what you could do with Helter Skelter! |

I'm not one for covers unless it sounds better than the original. |

Its odd how so much evidense was found on how Paul died back in 1966, what do you people think about that subject. |
I find it hilarious, especially how Paul and John capitalized on it and turned it into a big joke

There is this big group of kids (like 8 kids) and they are all classic rock posers (You know what i mean "Ya! d00d i t0ta11lly l0ve Led Zeppelin" My Fav song d00d has to be that one song....oh yeah what is it..oh yeah! B1ack dog d00d. Awwwesome man!) Anyways................They all are big believers that Paul McCartney is dead. And once they figured out that i am a hardcore McCartney fan (REALLY hardcore i might add.) they felt the need to try and convince me that he is dead. Well I went on some websites to see this "Extremly Convincing Evidence". and i have to say its complete and utter Bull$hit. Every little "Fact" they give is so ridiculous, its almost laughable. Like the fact that on "Rubber Soul" you can prove pual is dead by noticing on the cover they all seem to be looking at pauls grave. Um.....how about, no. Its a cover of a god **** album, theyre not looking at a grave. Well, i could sit here at my desk and Bitch some more about how Paul isnt dead, and dispove every "Fact" that people have put out there, but that would take me hours to write. So i guess ill stop here. |
They eventually admitted that 'Paul is Dead' was a hoax.
They never admit that they made money because of it ('cause fans bought albums to hear the clues), though. |
George Harrison, however, is dead.
|
Won't it be wierd when Paul actually does die? People will say "Paul is dead" and people would respond either "yeah..." or "Paul who?"
|
George Harrison, however, is dead.
And John Lennon is living in Africa with Elvis and Bob Marley. |

They really put a lot of thought into making all of the clues. |
And John Lennon is living in Africa with Elvis and Bob Marley.
Man, I wish. I'd go and jam with them. Think how that would be, man. Hey, did you know that the day that the Beatles played on Ed Sullivan for the first time, they got a telegraph from Elvis right before the show? He wished them luck. It was kind of a passing of the torch, I guess. |

No, he moved out 3 months ago. He said Osama and Zappa kept on fighting. |
