Cool, i'll check it out. :thumb:

Hi My Name Is Mark 06-16-2006 04:10 PM

get goddamnit. great album. or s/t...or all maybe?

chumpradio 06-17-2006 06:39 AM

Nah guys, Maybe I'll Catch Fire has to be their best cd.
Well, the UK version is, because it is the 10 tracks, and then has Goodbye Forever, Snake Oil Tanker, I Lied My Face Off and This Is Getting Over You as bonus tracks.

All of their albums are amazing though, so any would be a good choice.

Hi My Name Is Mark 06-17-2006 01:05 PM

are the UK MICF versions of Goodbye Forever, Snake Oil Tanker, I Lied My Face Off, and This Is Getting Over You the same as on s/t or are they re-recorded?

If I remember correctly, They're the same versions.

Flex of the Yellow 06-17-2006 03:08 PM
I don't listen to much Alk Trio.

Any recomendations?
I quite like their eponymous album, but to start off maybe try Good Mourning or From Here to Infirmary. Both awesome albums. :)

Angry Balled Fists! 06-17-2006 03:11 PM

Good Mourning is my favourite. F'uck the haters.
If I remember correctly, They're the same versions.
They most certainly are. Blood Pact info has told me that they're planning on a re-release of Goddammit!

Ross 06-18-2006 11:41 AM

I swear I knew that already, and I'm not really into Alk3 anything like as much as you are. Perhaps you told me.

When did you find this out?

Are they planning to re-record it or just release it and be lame?

Hi My Name Is Mark 06-18-2006 12:30 PM

hey oz, has there been anymore word of a DVD release?

Oz Rembrandt 06-18-2006 04:38 PM

Nothing as of yet, they still have some Occult Root's tour dates in Canada yet. They'll probably work on it after a break.

Hi My Name Is Mark 06-18-2006 07:38 PM

cool.

Fish 06-18-2006 07:38 PM

very..

poprocks&coke 06-19-2006 02:26 PM

I wish they'd hurry their arses up and sort out a UK tour... I'm getting impatient.

Flex of the Yellow 06-20-2006 12:16 PM

They had one in November last year. Still, here's hoping, eh?

poprocks&coke 06-20-2006 01:31 PM

Yeah but I need to see them agaaaain! And they've just dont a US tour... it's our turn now!

Grrr.

Plus this time I can afford to go more than once.

Hi My Name Is Mark 06-22-2006 12:20 AM

awesome interview! thank ya.

Storm In A Teacup 06-29-2006 02:37 PM

"Crimson" is easily their best album. I wrote a short review of it too.
Pop punk used to be a love/hate relationship for me. I once despised the genre, but then became almost enthralled by it. I’ve come out of both phases to become a much more matured music critic of the genre. I’m indifferent to a lot of what it has to offer, but there are still a few bands that hook me line and sinker. Alkaline Trio is at the forefront of those bands with their latest release being an absolute standout record. Pop punk is known for being simple, but this band takes that simplicity and downgrades a few notches. Someone who had been playing guitar for only a week could be easily play a lot of the bands catalogue. So why am I so charmed by the tracks on “Crimson”? It may be hard to believe, but there are several reasons that manage to surface. For one, while the guitar riffs are some of the simplest ever, they do not get old. Another thing is the bass playing. Daniel Andriano supports most songs with an interesting bass line that is usually high in the mix of the songs. Then there is the fact that even though frontman Matt Skiba isn’t one of the best singers and can’t add variety to the songs he still manages to be irresistibly catchy. Bassist Daniel contributes his brassier voice quite a bit to some songs. “Mercy Me” is a prominent song on “Crimson” because Daniel and Matt commit a dual vocal attack for the whole song. With a higher and lower vocal attack together it makes for one of the most memorable tracks. “Crimson” is an incredible album that never lacks. Sadly, it just may be both the most overlooked and underrated album of 2005.
Chilly-Bean-Bop 06-29-2006 03:27 PM

It's not really their best...but they have gotten better, musically.

Nice blurb, Ian. That was a blurb, right?

Storm In A Teacup 06-29-2006 03:52 PM

It was a blurb before they got integrated with reviews. Now it's a review.

And thanks, Chels. :)

Chilly-Bean-Bop 06-29-2006 03:55 PM

Mmhmm, no problem.

On the subject of Alk3, I haven't listened to them in forever. I don't know why.

Hi My Name Is Mark 06-29-2006 05:19 PM

You didn't mention Derek Grant and his great drumming abilities in your review. But other than that it was a good one.

Storm In A Teacup 06-30-2006 09:26 PM

Can't have it all I'm afraid. :)

"Every Thug Needs A Lady" is weak compared to other A3 songs.

poprocks&coke 07-01-2006 10:00 AM

I love that song.

Sep 07-01-2006 01:51 PM

I would have to agree Every Thug Needs A Lady doesn't do much for me.

chumpradio 07-01-2006 06:08 PM

I love the song, merely because I love Dan's vocals, and the way he sings sounds nice because of his slight lisp. Along with the lyrics, it sounds really romantic.

Storm In A Teacup 07-01-2006 07:50 PM

It's boring. Almost every song off "Good Mourning" is better than it.

Hi My Name Is Mark 07-01-2006 08:19 PM

if alk3 put out an acoustic album would you guys buy it? like full band acoustic not just skiba, with derek singing more, and possibly a song with derek on lead vocals?

Storm In A Teacup 07-01-2006 08:29 PM

Hecks yes I'd buy it.

Oz Rembrandt 07-10-2006 05:29 AM

I'd definatley bought it, although I already have all their acoustic stuff so far.

What Derek has reported on BP:
Matt is currently working on side project "Heavens"

Dan is currently working on the audio mixing for the re-release of Goddammit!

Derek is currently searching the demo's archives for Goddammit! tracks.
we are also working on another audio release, details to come early next month
Zomgz!1 Excitment.

Storm In A Teacup 07-12-2006 09:48 AM

It'll be great to hear some 'new' stuff from them.

Wow, sounds ace!
Can't wait :)

Hi My Name Is Mark 07-12-2006 01:02 PM

when is this supposed to be released again? i'm too lazy to search...
if alk3 put out an acoustic album would you guys buy it? like full band acoustic not just skiba, with derek singing more, and possibly a song with derek on lead vocals?
massive splooging.

Hi My Name Is Mark 07-13-2006 12:21 PM

basically. i wonder if they'd do it if we got enough people sending them letters and whatnot requesting it. it'd also be really cool if they did it in the studio so they could put some really different stuff in there they normally wouldn't be able to do live.

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-13-2006 12:42 PM

I need to listen to more Alk3.

That acoustic idea sounds awesome, I love hearing Derek's voice.

Hi My Name Is Mark 07-13-2006 09:41 PM

yeah, it's AMAZING.

where would the misfits be if they got derek on vocals instead of michale graves after they got back together w/o danzig? better or worse post-danzig era?

Chilly-Bean-Bop 07-13-2006 09:42 PM

Ugh, no way. Derek's voice is wayyy too girly for the Misfits.

Storm In A Teacup 07-13-2006 09:47 PM
