I'll start eating.

gaslight 12-06-2008 04:50 AM

I won't really be able to afford to have stock in all sizes :(.

badtaste 12-06-2008 04:54 AM

No prob, I'll make bootleg shirts or something, haha.

Aaron 12-06-2008 04:56 AM

I'm pretty buff so it's all good.

gaslight 12-06-2008 04:57 AM

You can shrink it in the wash if you absolutely must.

gaslight 12-06-2008 05:00 AM

Hmm, Aaron, you have a job. Do you happen to know if paying for postage for stuff your business sells is considered a tax deductible business expense?

Aaron 12-06-2008 05:12 AM

Yes, provided you're a registered business you can claim it [ABN registered], IIRC.

gaslight 12-06-2008 05:21 AM

Beauty. I'll be registered as a small business with an ABN and all that.

So say, if I made a sale and sent a bunch of CDs and a shirt overseas, I could claim 100% of the postage fee when tax time rolled around?

How about the cost of hosting the website that I'll be doing all the business through, would that be allowed?

Aaron 12-06-2008 05:28 AM

Yeah all of the above as far as I know. Just keep reciepts and use MYOB to manage it.

gaslight 12-06-2008 05:30 AM

That's freaking ace.

Aaron 12-06-2008 05:32 AM

Yeah, you gotta do BAS though.

gaslight 12-06-2008 05:36 AM

What's that, like, a tax form for my business?

Aaron 12-06-2008 05:47 AM

Basically. Business Activity Statement. Done quarterly. Although, off the top of my head, there's rules around businesses that have low earnings [ie turnover under $X per quarter].

gaslight 12-06-2008 05:52 AM

My earnings are likely to be negligible.

Aaron 12-06-2008 06:00 AM

Should be sweet then. See an accountant if you can though.

gaslight 12-06-2008 06:17 AM

May as well hey.

I think it'll be fun though, I'm confident at least a few people would want to buy the Tiger Panic CDs.

Aaron 12-06-2008 06:31 AM

Do it. If they're downloading my jibberish surely yours'd do better, lol.

gaslight 12-06-2008 06:35 AM

I'll be wishing I hadn't already given all the albums to you guys for free .

Aaron 12-06-2008 06:44 AM

haha

gaslight 12-06-2008 06:46 AM

The next one won't be free haha.

A few sample tracks but that'll be it unfortunately.

badtaste 12-06-2008 06:57 AM

How are you going to market it?

Aaron 12-06-2008 06:59 AM

gaslight 12-06-2008 07:04 AM
How are you going to market it?
What do you mean?

badtaste 12-06-2008 07:14 AM
What do you mean?
Well, I assume you want to get your music out there, just wondering what plans you have in mind on achieving that.

gaslight 12-06-2008 07:17 AM

Word of mouth basically, and whatever internet whoring can be done.

Aaron 12-06-2008 07:19 AM

smartyhost.com.au

gaslight 12-06-2008 07:21 AM

Already got a website :).

badtaste 12-06-2008 07:22 AM

Aight. we should start a whoring service for whatever music comes out of this thread.

I'm willing to run naked at a sporting event with your band on my butt cheeks.

gaslight 12-06-2008 07:27 AM

Haha. You don't have to go to that much trouble.

When the site is up, if you get two people to purchase CDs, I'll give you a free one. Any good?
