They performed. Rody's voice is absolutely shot, lol.
|
Which song is the video for?
|
Sequoia Throne
http://axs.muchmusic.com/?fr_search=%22Protest%20The%20Hero%22 It's there. If you're Canadian you can watch it. Performance was Bloodmeat. |
I'm getting a heavy Mike Patton influence from Rody in the new vid. also gnarly stache.
|
*weak stache. Mine is at least 20 times bigger. He's a Patton fan for sure though.
|
horrible quality

Rody's black lungs must have loved being chased through those (lecture) halls.

That's awesome because it's a competition you know! |
It is with moustaches. Always. Those guys (well, Tim) take facial hair seriously.
|
Haha, I was being serious in that case.
|
Tim is always going to win. I think the only guys who can top him are the guys from ZZ Top and this guy:

nvm

Facial hair is very important, especially when you need to create the illusion of jawline. |
so how is moe like irl.....to me he seems like a stoner guy
also i think the video is suppose to follow the "to stalk us like a predator" line and rody is suppose to be the supposed ones to come and kill them...i dunno just sumthing i thought up the past 1 min |
not really it's just supposed to be rody chasing and killing them, there isn't that much thought to it.
also, moe is a stoner. nice guy but kind of creepy. |
they all seemed like stoners when i got baked with them after a show in Halifax a few months ago :p
ps this album is so good it doesn't get old |
Oh my god, im watching the latest pth performance at much, this is embarrassing. He never sounded this bad even in shitty live kezia performances before they were 18. So bad! Complete with lackluster backup vocals by tim trying to bail him out in sequoia throne. Now its bloodmeat, his voice is popping/cracking when he tries to shriek, he's murmuring the soft parts-thats not even singing! When he's performing his bellowing parts his voice 'falls out.' He sounds like (gasp)M. Shadows with blown vocal cords who cant reach those notes.
Hmm the interview does explain that he does indeed have blown vocal cords from this last tour. I had a buddy at work tell me he saw this live on tv and said it was bad--i had previously given him the instrumental album so i was just saying the usual 'yeah his voice is pretty polarizing'... but i didn't know what he saw was this terrible; so i think this was his first time hearing them with vocals. What a bad day for the label trying to garner new fans. |
Well on the live videos I saw, his vocals were always pretty crap

he smokes during the performance.....wuheva lol @ people throwing stuff at him another matt murphy interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9NLXVJ8Mvs |
While some people have a distaste for his voice and he sometimes struggles live, the performance on much music is definitely a big aberration. His voice was ****ED - during the interview, he barely spoke, and when he did he sounded like a zombie.
I've seen these guys play many times and in general Rody has got better and better at singing live. This was just a case of catching them right at the end of a tour that had few offdates. He probably shouldn't have sang at all with his voice in that condition, I guess. It might have been interesting if they'd just performed instrumentally - didn't they have to do that for a show or two when they toured the States last year or the year before? |

another matt murphy interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9NLXVJ8Mvs
Matt Murphy's voice is quite high. |

Rody's voice was shot for about a week before that performance. I know it was dead before the show in Toronto. He just killed it; not enough rest, shows every night and he just "partied too hard". The best part of the performance was seeing the asian girl behind the drumkit's face. She was visibly offended by what she was hearing. The performance was tight otherwise, although that's the first time I've ever heard Moe play a song slower live. |
I knew they'd been listening to Sikth!
You just check all those pages ago. The drumming and guitaring is so influenced by them, it's incredible. A brand new take on what was already a completely unique style of guitar, and the lock-in style of the drums with the guitar is so god damn cool it makes me want to tear my own achilles out. |
Probably worthless info:
Saw Arif & Rody at The Fall of Troy's show in Toronto tonight. TFOT dedicated a song to Protest, which was cool considering they said nothing about the bands who opened for them. Rody told me his real first name is James. His middle name is Rody. Never knew that. |
Yeah, James is a lot less cool, which is why nobody knows. I remember when I told them about TFOT a few years ago when both bands were a bunch of snotty punk kids. Oh how time flies.
Where was the gig? I think I was invited but backed out. Was it somewhere stupid like the Sound Academy? |
i think it was the MOD club..not sure though.
Nothing is better than some of the things they've said about some of the other bands they've toured with. |

What have they said? I haven't read a lot of interviews. |
Usually they dont say in interviews. Let's just say that if you think the bands they play with suck you're not alone.
Rody did however say, concerning The Devil Wears Prada, "bad band based on a shitty movie based on a shitty book" or something along those lines. |
