Actually, you were the only one I wasn't referring to haha.
|
Oshi, sorry man, I was just like "argh, wtf"? because I pretty much agree with what you said about their new direction and such. Apologies for my misunderstanding.
|
Oh you guys are all just jumpers on the 'Hate Trivium' bandwagon. I think their new songs are the best music they've put out.
Two questions for the above posters: 1. Have you ever heard the word change? Seriously, you guys are just looking for a reason to bash them, whether it's the their old sound, or how gay they are for changing to a different one. 2. Please tell me what it is they are trying to sound like? I will personally assassinate anyone who says Anthem bears a resemblance to Metallica.
1.Ive heard the word change, I love Avenged Sevenfold don't I. I'm not looking for a reason to bash them, on Ascendancy a lot of the riffs sound incredibly samey, and I just hate, HATE the vocals. 2. Listen to Detonation and tell me that the first half doesn't sound exactly like Metallica, even the vocals sound reminiscent of Hetfield.
All in all, you guys are just retards looking for a reason to hate on them. They used to be a decent band, and everyone hated on them, now they are a pretty good band, and everyone hates on them for changing their sound, yet the same people still continue to hate on their old sound. Here's a thought, think for yourself and stop posting ridiculous crap because that's what everyone else is doing.
Here's a thought, maybe people don't enjoy their music. I know crazy but it's true. In your eyes they used to be decent, in mine they were average, maybe a little below, now I think they're even worse. They sound exactly like a Metallica clone, almost everyone who hated them wanted them to change, before I and many others first heard Detonation we had very high hopes for "The Crusade", but now I'm really not that excited. |
Ok, please explain to me how you can say they sound like Metallica after only hearing two songs off of the album, 1 and a half of which don't bear a slight semblance to any material Metallica has EVER done.
|
I clearly said that Detonation sounds like Metallica. Listen to Master of Puppets and then Detonation, they sound like they could be on the same album.
|
No, you said the first half of Detonation sounded like Metallica. The second half sounds nothing like Metallica, and Anthem's sound is farther away from Metallica than Ascendancy was. Oh yeah, and there's like, you know, the rest of the ****ing album, which you haven't even heard.
|
I clearly said that Detonation sounds like Metallica. Listen to Master of Puppets and then Detonation, they sound like they could be on the same album.
You know, it's fine that you guys dislike Trivium. That's fair. No one can say what you like or do not like. But no one can deny that all over the place Trivium is recieving the same bashing, and it's annoying as ****, so how about leaving the Trivium thread to their fans? The name Trivium shouldn't be looked down upon in there own fucking thread. Sometimes an opposing view can be interesting, but there isn't a consistent two pages in this thread without someone giving Trivium a hard time, and it's especially annoying when the point is you simply don't like them and there isn't much to argue. Most of us all agree they are going for a Metallica sound. Some people like that, me for one, but if you don't that's fantastic. We've heard it from all of you so much, lets fucking drop it and let this thread be a good one, alright? edit: Just listened to Anthem. That's a fine fine solo if you ask me. |

This is a Trivium thread, not a only fans of Trvium and noone else. This is a forum, made for the discussion of opinions. If everyone has the same opinion then it's not really a discussion of opinions. If you can't deal with other people not liking a band get over it or leave. Besides, it's not like we are being idiots, we're backing up our opinions. Also, there wouldn't be pages of just that if you guys (fans of Trivium) would actually have a discussion, instead of saying this is a Trivium thread for only fans, or saying you're only looking for reasons to hate them. Other bands get the same shit these guys do, but funny you guys don't seem to care about it unless it's a band you really care about.
|
Actually, I'm not even a big Trivium fan, I'm just tired of the senseless idiotic bashing. And no, you're doing no backing up of any kind, you still haven't told me how you figure The Crusade sounds like Metallica based on half of one of two songs sounding like them.
|
For the last time, I didn't say that The Crusade sounded like Metallica, I haven't heard the majority of it, I said that DETONATION sounds like them, because imo it does. And I do back up my statments, remember this post?
1.Ive heard the word change, I love Avenged Sevenfold don't I. I'm not looking for a reason to bash them, on Ascendancy a lot of the riffs sound incredibly samey, and I just hate, HATE the vocals.
2. Listen to Detonation and tell me that the first half doesn't sound exactly like Metallica, even the vocals sound reminiscent of Hetfield.
|
So then, what exactly are you even trying to say? I haven't found a main point to any of your arguments so far.
|

These opinions don't even need to be backed up! The point is that we all agree on the points, it's just a matter of liking what those points are or not. There's really nothing to argue. I bet if you looked back through the pages like I did, you'd see conversations starting, and then shot down but someone putting Trivium down. Like I said it's not like that's against the law, but you don't have to fucking come in here and make the same point everytime something stirs up in here, we get the point, now let us talk about a band we like, okay? edit: At the above post: EXACTLY MY POINT! There's nothing to argue! So there's no need for people to keep coming in here and putting Trivium down for the same old things like we don't know that they are lacking in vocals, or originality, or are Metallica clones. It's like a group of people regularly going into the death heads thread and saying they hate death metal because growls suck. Wouldn't that stink up the thread and make you never go there again? |
So then, what exactly are you even trying to say? I haven't found a main point to any of your arguments so far.
Seriously, I thought that I made it pretty clear that I thought Detonation sounded like a Metallica rip-off, and that Ascendancy had horrible vocals, and that it all sounded the same.
These opinions don't even need to be backed up! The point is that we all agree on the points, it's just a matter of liking what those points are or not. They just make some big post saying you guys are retards, don't talk about them if you don't like them, which in all honesty is bullshit. |
The point is, this is a Trivium thread, it is meant for productive conversation about the band Trivium. You coming in here saying the same **** that people have been saying for the past two months is not productive whatsoever, nor even very intelligent.
|
Exactly this is a Trivium thread, which means varying points of view are allowed. And maybe if you guys responded to our posts with a counter point of view we'd get some conversations done, instead of mindless bitching.
|
Explain how we both agree on the points.
Not specifically you here, but things like the Metallica similarities, and the change in musical direction. Most of us agree it does sound a tad like Metallica, especially vocal-wise, and they are definetly changing styles (for better or worse is for you too decide). We agree on most of these things, it's just that for some people it's a turn off, and others a turn on. So why argue it? It's all true, some just like it and others don't.
In the same respect Trivium's fans really don't respond to Trivium haters posts either. They just make some big post saying you guys are retards, don't talk about them if you don't like them, which in all honesty is bullshit.
Okay, I haven't really ever seen that. My last few posts were kinda big, but I never said anyone was a retard or an idiot or anything. Plus, I'm not saying people shouldn't talk about why they hate them. It's just that I was in this thread numerous times over the past month or two and people keep coming in here and saying the same **** over and over. This happens in other threads to. People go into say, the Metallica thread, like every week and share that they only like the first 4 albums and that the others suck or something. Then the others say they like/dislike the later albums and such or whatever. That isn't happening here. Instead people just keep arguing over it when it's shear taste. The only exception to this is the live performance arguments. We've all seen the videos of the ever-so-sloppy Trivium, but the fact that I've seen them 3 times, and none of those times were as bad as the videos makes me think maybe there just inconsistent? That's a fault, for sure, but man all these overdone arguments are getting soooooo annoying, and are really turning the thread sour. |
Are you serious man? I thought you were cool/not an idiot.
A. Yes, varying points of view are allowed, but do we really need every person with a negative view on Trivium to tell us that? B. Sure, I responded with some insults, but I also gave my counter point: How can you say The Crusade is a Metallica ripoff when 1. Only half of one of the two songs sounds anything remotely like Metallica, 2. There's still the rest of the album to ****ing hear before you make any sort of judgement on it. And, of course: What the **** do you people want? You bash them for horrid screams and generic riffs, so they dispose of the screaming and come up with some damn good riffs, and then you bash them for this as well. Hence the whole 'Hate Trivium' bandwagon statement (which, don't even try and pretend you don't realize is what half of this stupid **** is). |
Not to name anyone in here, because I think people dislike Trivium in here simply because they don't dig it, but there definetly is a bandwagon of people looking for any excuse not to like Trivium because of there tr00ness.
Luckily, most of R&M is free of that. |

B.1.I NEVER SAID THE CRUSADE SOUNDS LIKE METALLICA, read my posts. I said that the first part of Detonation, I'm not gonna say that again. 2.I know that, that why I never said the whole album does, but those songs don't leave a very good taste in my mouth. I and many others still think the vocals suck, same with the riffs, I still don't like them, face it. People have different points of view, deal with it. Yeah I know there is a hate Trivium bandwagon, but that doesn't mean that everyone who hates them just says that to be cool, people actually don't like them. If I was on that bandwagon would I go against such huge acts as Metallica who have an I love Metallica bandwagon, or think that bands like Atreyu are ok to listen to every once in a while when they have an I hate Atreyu bandwagon just like Trivium? |
Ok, um, I responded intelligently and productively, counterpoints and all, so I don't see how you can continue to say this wouldn't happen if fans would respond.
You're ****ing free to your opinion, but if it's the same one that has been stated over and over and over and over agan, it might be best just to keep it in your head. |

So because 10 others have had my opinion, I can't voice it. That's dumb. |
No, I got your point. What I was saying about that was not directed directly at you, but to the hundred people who have said "they are just copying Metallica now".
You call it dumb, I call it common sense. I mean, let's be honest, do you really feel it necessary to state the same things that have been plaguing this thread for a month now? |
I'd like the get the Trivium haters vs. Trivium lovers argument done now, that way we can stop with this, and when someone says I hate Trivium because they copied Metallica we can just tell them to look back a few pages.
|
Well, if those are the teams then I guess I'm not involved, because I neither love nor hate them. I just think they are a pretty good band, definately one of the better mainstream American bands.
|
My official opinion about them is that Ascendancy had one good song, and everything else sounded the same. Yes they can solo, but it's boring a repetitive after a while. The vocals, are just ugh. I hate his scream, it's horrible, I'm glad he busted it I couldn't stand listening to them with that voice. And his clean voice was average at best, there are better and worse out there. As for the new album, from what I've heard it sounds like crap. I haven't heard the majority of it though. His vocals are still really bad, they sound like a crappy version of an already crappy vocalist (Hetfield).
|
Thank you. That was probably the most informative anti Trivium post I've ever read, although I still think it is lacking. Exactly why do people hate Heafy's voice so much? It's generic, yes, it's nothing impressive, no, but I don't think it is by any means bad.
|
Reasons I hate his voice: His tone gets on my nerves, and that's because he did it incorrectly, he sounds like he's squawking. I don't like it for the same reasons people don't like Alex from Atreyu. His tone is annoying. And for his cleans, it's incredibly mediocre, there are so many better vocalists, yes there are worse but I still say Heafy's below average to average.
|
Well of course, Heafy's voice is the definition of average, but there's plenty of bands that I listen to with below average vocals, so Heafy's voice in no way ruins Trivium for me.
Now the Atreyu guy, his voice is annoying. The squawking thing is at it's worst in his vocal chords. |
Now the Atreyu guy, his voice is annoying. The squawking thing is at it's worst in his vocal chords.
That's exactly how I feel about Matt. |
