Sir Jonas the Sevenfold Avenger, Lord Of Arucard!
I shall be the counceller of Angra also! /Listens to Waiting Silence. /Is tr00er than you all. |
Arucard - how did thou get that essay of a user title? What Dark Arts empowered you thus? I getteth about 4 words in there, if the Planets do rain their blessings upon me....
Let mortal me in on thy deep secret, I beseech thee |
There is a hack to get long user titles, although if someone was to post it, they would get banned.

Hello, I'm new here, to the forums and to powermetal. I bought Imaginations from the otherside from Blind Guardian and Night of the stormrider form Iced Earth. Could you experts give me some recomendations on bands and albums I should check out.
Thanks |
Sounds like an ideal beginning! I dont feel like posting a big list of power metal bands but if you liked the Blind Guardian CD you bought I would suggest getting Somewhere Far Beyond and Nightfall in Middle Earth as well :) |
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle-Earth, any others
Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes and/or Horror Show, any others Demons & Wizards - Either of their 2 albums Edguy - Hellfire Club Stratovarius - Visions Dragonforce - The Valley of the ****ed Angra - Rebirth Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pts. 1 and 2 Rhapsody - Pretty much any album will give you a good taste Those will get you started. Feel free to add to the list, fellas. |
At the risk of sounding repetetive - Nightwish - Wishmaster
/all time classic |
I was just about to ask the same thing. Sweet.
Don't see you round much these days Chris :( Incase you missed all the name changes its Vio-lence here. |
Saw Nightwish live last saturday for the second time and I cant get into those guys (and a girl). They sound like they want to make it very easy on themselves, music wise that is. She has a great voice though, so maybe I'll check out how it sounds on disc.
Thanks for the advce. |

Thanks for the advce.
 I'm not talking to you anymore. :p The great thing about Nightwish is that they sound pretty much exactly the same as they do on record. It's phenomanal. However, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on their music sounds easy...it's NOT. It's unbelievably complex and difficult to play...if you want Nightwish at their most technical, get Oceanborn. Or, like Rumboy said, get Wishmaster, as it is one of their greatest albums. Or, for non-Nightwish material, try Sonata Arctica's Winterheart's Guild or Ecliptica. |

Thanks for the advce.
Wow, someone who shares my thoughts! I used to like Nightwish, then i discovered Therion. Get some of them and also these albums : Angra : Rebirth and Temple Of Shadows Galloglass : Legends From Now and Nevermore Sonata Arctica : Reckoning Night Demons And Wizards : Touched By The Crimson King :) |

Thanks for the advce.
Yeah, look at Jukka playing Wishmaster, lazy sod - he's almost asleep behind that kit. /sarcasm  |

Awesome album. As a point, whats so good about the drumming on Wishmaster? Its not particularly technical atall, and its not like his DB is fast. I never understood what made them so critically aclaimed. |
Therion>>>>>Nightwish
/tries to piss off the fanboys :D |

I never understood what made them so critically aclaimed.
It's not just that particular album/track - I only used it as an example. His drumming has groove and complements the songs. People who just equate speed or technicality with greatness are in danger of losing the point of music, which is .....music. Example Yngwe Malmsteen. Technically probably unsurpassed. Musically sucks balls. IMHO. Likewise drummers, I don't care how technical stuff is, or how many bpm someone does double bass - I like music, and Nightwish make great music. Period |
Alrighty then, I'm guessing we call Lord Tim by his name of Lord Tim. :p
Nah, "Wanker" is fine! :p |

Im not a 'OmgZZ! HeS NotT WEle FASTTt LOZZ' person, i just dont see why everyone thinks hes so good. |

Put anybody else in his place, and their music would suck...he is a fifth of what makes the music good. By the way, have you listened to Dead Gardens yet? Listen to that, and try to tell me he's not a good drummer. |
What album is it on? If its not on Wishmaster, i dont have it.
