Maybe he used to cut down trees?
Maybe he cut down the tree used to make wooten's bass?
Does Wooten have a bass made from wood from Norway? Or is he just talking about the Beatles cover he played? What is it he's proud of?
^I don't know, but it'll keep me up at night (which it currently is 3:30 am so it's not hard :p )

which is how much? 250? 200? |
I got it for $290, retail $350.
Hmm, we get em for 250 usually down here.
Anyone got any tips for putting slap into heavy songs? |
i'd probably rather spend the money on something like a Digitech Bp80
hey popinfresh where do you live?
What's a bp80? An effects unit?
Because I already have pedals for Distortion, Delay, Chorus, Synth/Envelope, and Octave so I don't really want to buy an effects unit. I did look at one today for a while but the Wah pedal won it. For slap in heavy songs make it really tight with the drums so you emphasise the fatness of the rhythm. |
BP80's kinda suck.. I have one. It's ok, but distortion and wah suck on it. Chorus and that are ok.
I live in Melbourne Aus. And gaslight.. Yeah, but any patters or something that sound good? I try and make something and it's usually more funky.. |
I was in Melbourne in the JUne/July holidays (i live in Brisbane) for band tour we got to play in Federation Square and we almost played in Chadstone shopping centre (they said the saxaphone group was too loud and drove away customers, so the jazz band wasn't allowed to play) but i didn't care, we got 6 hours of shopping!!!
Patterns I'm not sure that much but umm, using lots of percussive slaps/pops can sound cool. And maybe using more slap than pop, sort of quick slap on the low strings with occasionally going up to the high?
It is kinda hard to explain. |
And man, Melbourne seems so awesome. I've only been for an extended weekend but it seemed so sweet. I stayed in Fitzroy.
hey gaslight is there any chance of you making a recording of your new bass?
Sure thing buddy, when I get it back from being set-up I'll put up some recordings on the same night. I'm looking forward to hearing it myself; I haven't played it properly yet.
alright give me an idea for the next casual thread... this one is getting out of hand

Casual 15... Getting old like ovaltines?
Casual 15 - My spleen now resembles a bean after I overdosed on codeine while trying to enjoy the teen on my screen showering to be clean, and I also polished my car with Mr Sheen and then bought new two halves of jean after selling my spare gene to a guy who happened to careen his car off the highway while yelling obscene stuff at the giant ovaltine mascot driving a car.
respect dude
Well, looks like I'll be getting a new bass next year. Yay.
Because of my chronic neck injury, I can't play alto sax anymore, so I'll have to do my exams on bass, which means new bass for me. Awesome. I'll probably have $1500+ (AUS), too, which is good. |
What happened to your neck? :(
