Theres no way I would have had any chance of liking Slint in 7th-8th grade.
Spiderland was one of, if not the, first CD I ever bought.

I found them through a post-rock forum way back when.

Anxious 07-09-2007 08:47 PM

Mad indie rep.

Glitterati 07-09-2007 10:06 PM

Leonard Cohen.

I told my friend Andy I was a big Leonard Cohen fan and he said he didn't know Spock recorded an album.

Jacaranda 07-09-2007 10:51 PM

is he your comedian friend lol cause thats a hilarious insight.

Spock had a couple. They were all really bad.

Ratatat - Classics

pulseczar 07-10-2007 01:35 AM
I've never heard any of his solo stuff, how is it?
Pretty disappointing. He's one of the best in the Wu but his rhymes are much weaker when it's just him. The beats are hit-or-miss and most of the hooks just suck. Has some good stuff, though.

AlienEater 07-10-2007 03:44 AM

Hot Snakes - Thunder Down Under

pixiesfanyo 07-10-2007 03:48 AM

Misery Signals - Mirrors

Great metalcore.

And towards the Zach Hill comment. That is false. Hella isn't very good, but his work with Team Sleep is fantastic.

Interstate 07-10-2007 05:19 AM
that is so not true

Interstate- is it the rhythm (or lack there-of) that throws you off?
Yeah that's what I'm finding puts me off the most. I mean I can listen to stuff that's not in a regular rhythm as such but this is too over the place for me to really like.

I like "The Failsafe" a lot.

Lydisk 07-10-2007 08:55 AM

Slaraffenland

i went to their concert at Roskilde

it was super great

Anxious 07-10-2007 10:25 AM

I've been on a GBV kick. Pollard was born in the wrong time period, it still baffles me how someone could write more top notch pop songs than anyone and not get recognized at all.

Zebra 07-10-2007 11:10 AM

Melvins - Gluey Porch Treatments

best Melvins album hands down

ATM 07-10-2007 11:22 AM

That album rules.

Boilermaker 07-10-2007 11:25 AM

I don't know if I like that or Houdini more. I'll go with Houdini just because it was the first album that really got me into them back in 7th grade (indie repz).

Anxious 07-10-2007 11:25 AM

The Doors- Strange Days

Does someone want to explain to me why everyone thinks they're generic rock? This album is a strange psychedelic masterpiece.

Interstate 07-10-2007 12:33 PM

Lee Morgan - Lee-Way
Bark Psychosis - Codename Dustsucker

Mildred Pierce 07-10-2007 12:34 PM

Diggin...

The Nerd Parade - A Delicate Bashing. The album is totally unclassifiable, but very cool.

Google them!

geheim 07-10-2007 01:54 PM

i guess i was intrigued seeing hella live
not sure if i would want to casually listen to their studio work

gang gang dance - god's money
fennesz - endless summer

Zmev 07-10-2007 01:59 PM

Greg Weeks - Fire in the Arms of the Sun

Kyle 07-10-2007 03:02 PM

Autolux - Future Perfect

the first five tracks on Houdini are superior to most of the material on GPT but it kind of falters towards the end unlike GPT which is solid throughout.

"Eye Flys" is the best sludge metal song ever written

Kage 07-10-2007 03:37 PM

I like Stoner Witch better than both.

AlienEater 07-10-2007 03:41 PM

I like most of their albums better than both

Boilermaker 07-10-2007 04:15 PM

Houdini > GPT = Stoner Witch > everything else that I've heard.

Have any of you guys heard the Melvins covering the Jesus Lizard song 'Blockbuster' with David Yow on vocals? It's incredible.

Minus the Bear - Highly Refined Pirates
Dag Nasty - Can I Say/Wig Out At Denko's

AlienEater 07-10-2007 04:17 PM

I have heard that

It is good

oh yeah and I think I may have heard every Melvins album and I can't be bothered to put them in order. Stag, Honky and The Maggot are three of my favourites though

Kage 07-10-2007 04:25 PM

That Jesus Lizard cover is indeed great.

Stag is another one of my favorites.

asdf 07-10-2007 04:41 PM

Labradford - Prazision LP

Happymeal 07-10-2007 05:14 PM

Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West

I never had much appreciation for The Moon & Antarctica but this one is just right for me

Glitterati 07-10-2007 06:30 PM

Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary

Oh really?

I <3 Autolux.

New stuff soon would be sweeeet.

asdf 07-10-2007 06:48 PM

Gogol Bordello - Super Taranta!

Tsuru 07-10-2007 06:51 PM

The new Figuines is pretty sweet. Been stuck on high rotation...

YDload 07-10-2007 07:33 PM

theres a video on youtube of Local H covering Jesus Lizard's "Puss"

its not very good but at least they have good taste for a mediocre band

Happymeal 07-10-2007 10:39 PM

Monoshock - Walk to the Fire
Tight Bros From Way Back When - Runnin' Thru My Bones
The Stars - Perfect Place to Hideaway

Listening to all of these for the first time. I finally got my hands on Perfect Place cause it's hard to come by on slsk. Hopefully it won't disappoint.

pixiesfanyo 07-10-2007 10:56 PM
