We all take it a little too seriously, none of it means anything. None of us don't like the edgers, and we know the edgers probably don't hate us. About 90% of my friends in hardcore are straight edge/edge but don't claim.

What is the purpose of being edge if you keep it to yourself? Honestly, straight edge isn't somekind of thing that gives you inner strength at a personal level. I also pretty much never x up, but saying that you should never x up is like saying you are embarrassed for people to know that you are edge.

What I mean is that there is a difference between not Xing up because there's really no need to, and not doing it because you think it is stupid. I'm just saying that it seems as if tons of people who are edge are embarrassed to show it, but classify it as them keeping it personal. **** trying to hide something you say is your lifestyle.

But there is no reason to tell everyone that you are edge just because you can.

How could you express your beliefs without saying what you believe? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I repeat, there is nothing wrong with having pride in what you believe.

In your logic, non-edge people should also not be able to say the way they live: this includes people not being able to say that they went out and got drunk one night or whatever. Thing is NO ONE CARES. If you really think that you should be the one to be able to determine who is showing off by doing what they believe in, you need to get the **** over yourself.
