Sorry if this is late news, but how many of you would be up for fantasy football this year, similar to the one we had for the NCAA tourney?
EDIT: sorry to the Europeans, they probably aren't interested/don't care. Also, would you want to play the actual fantasy football game, or the Pro Pick 'Em game, or both? People in so far: Jom Lunch /// On the fence: /// Definite no: I Am Vikingcore Mr. Blue Sky
I would do both and you know it.
/long story that involves going to the hospital and blood flying everywhere
pix? :p But seriously, glad to know that you're okay (well, relatively speaking :-\) Sounds like your doctors and nurses were butchers, though...when I had to go to the hospital to have my appendix removed I went through a similar experience. I had TWO rectal exams (TWO! because apparently the guy who did the first one wasn't sure), I fell out of the fvcking bed when they were wheeling me in to the OR because they slammed it into a wall, and they kept sticking IVs in the wrong places. And when I needed an ultrasound of my intestines (or something like that, it was an x-ray to show how inflamed my appendix was) they made me lightheaded for it (they injected me with something that made my intestines show up more, or something) and then made me walk without any assistance back to my room to wait for the surgeons. So uh...not good. |
I just worked in a hospital this past summer. Our staff aren't the butchers, however. The butchers are at the Medical University of South Carolina. I only call them that because they took my mum's leg, hand, fingers, and toes.
I won't blame them though. Best they get rid of the dead limbs and appendages than the whole person dying. Illmatic, I amazed that the lights in your room didn't fall down and electrocute you while you were there. Sounds like a level of Hell... |
Jom, I'll do Fantasy Football! :D

Heh, I had to serve cigarettes at work for the first time ever. Most hilarious thing. Basically, I have no clue about brands/strengths/slang words, so I was probably coming off as inept. Anyways, the Aussie government changed the legislation for naming cigarette strengths, since "Mild", "Extra Light" etc were deemed misleading.
So, now we have "Smooth", "Rich" etc. However, people still refer to them by their old names. Sample convos: "Hey, mate, can you get me a pack of Winfield Blue" /me searches for a minute /me grabs packet "Thanks, mate" --------------------- "Hey, can I have PJ Super Milds 25s please?" "Ah, can you tell me what colour they are, I'm new at this" "They're Super Milds for Christ's sake!" "Ok... what name are they called now" "Jesus, are you stupid? They're called Smooths now!" "Sorry, I'm new at this" "Fancy training you on a busy night. What have you been working here, two days?" "Actually I've been here coming on 5 years" *customer mutters expletives" --------- "Chay, mate, can you give me the cheapest durries you got?" "Ah, ok..." /me grabs random packet ------- "Can I have Horizon 30s" "What type, sir?" "30s!" "Ah... what flavour?" "Horizons!" /me grabs Reds "I wanted Sky Blue. Christ!" As you can see, smokers need to die. |
Just another note, guys. We've been really good on keeping the spam down, but to prevent any backsliding, I've got a little warning.
Munky and I will neg rep anyone doing the kind of thing 'Tender cleans up, at least till he gets back. |
bloody smokers*
*Australians /cleans up spam post erm..yes...conversation? |

Agreed. Mainly because I can't stand people smoking around me. |

At the record store where I used to work and where I currently kind of work, the worst I have to deal with are the elitists and the Berklee students (which is redundant, I know), and the 60 year old jazz and classical music nuts who complain about the music we have playing. |

Munky and I will neg rep anyone doing the kind of thing 'Tender cleans up, at least till he gets back.
I will also participate in this as well, if you don't mind. Also smokers suck. For the most part they are inconsiderate assholes at concerts and various other public places only thinking about their habit and not the other people around them dealing with it. Grrrr, smokers piss me off in many ways. I now have Trivium, In Flames and Shadows Fall autographs from the concert I went to last week. I also have a pic I caught from Bjorn from In Flames signed as well. Hurrah! NP - Cryptopsy - Benedictine Convulsions Death metal! \m/ |
Bobo...you took the tech-death side

If I was a celebrity, I would hate signing autographs because it's all so dumb...some random stranger shoves something in your face and you sign it, and then he leaves. It's all very pointless and you don't even have to care all that much about fans to do it.
I don't like bugging athletes or musicians about autographs because I know neither party involved really cares about the whole process. |
Bobo...you took the tech-death side
/shakes head no Cryptopsy for you...
I took new school and tech death side. so Cryptopsy for me! I don't consider Cryptopsy old school, and old school death metal beyond Immolation, Morbid Angel and Death is boring to me with the crap production. Unless I am missing key things, but I cannot stand the guitar and bass to be drowned out by drums and vocals only proceeding to make the songs all sound the same and riffless. Just my opinion, but Cryptopsy songs actually sound different! And autographs are my only chance to really tell them I appreciate their music by actually saying something to them personally and such. So meh. |
hmm...Cryptopsy is inbetween I'd say
older stuff is more old-school, but newer is different- like Death |
And autographs are my only chance to really tell them I appreciate their music by actually saying something to them personally and such. So meh.
A lot of people aren't like that, though...there are tons of autograph-seekers who don't even want to interact with the autographer on any level...I just don't understand that. |
As you can see, smokers need to die.
Oh, they will. Just not fast enough. |
I've been smoking a lot more rescently. I think its the stress of working full time.
I've been smoking a lot more rescently. I think its the stress of working full time.
What's funny is that your job gives you minimal stress, I would guess. I don't smoke (I recently smoke), but I don't like associating with most non-smokers. |
Bobo...you took the tech-death side
/shakes head no Cryptopsy for you...
I took the tech-death side too, for pretty much the same reason as Bobo. I don't listen to a large amoutn of death metal anyway, although I do listen to it.
Oh, they will. Just not fast enough.
 That made me laugh. Good ol' Steepike. |

That is true, and now I can see where you are coming from on that part. Especially when it comes to bigger name people is where it probably really happens. But personally, getting autographs is not like that for me. It adds to the experience of going to a concert and also to show my appreciation as well. Oh well. I've gotten to actually talk to a few athletes, though, and personally I find that much more satisfying than getting an autograph from them. |

I got to chit chat with Adam from Killswitch Engage, and that was pretty nifty. But I do agree with the last part of chatting with them would be alot cooler then just an autograph, but I never have had the chance to. So blah. Edit : Also, if any one has found the leak for the new Arcturus album Sideshow Symphonies, I do not want it, I need it. It would be most appreciated if any one can keep an eye open for it. |
So, I heard there was some useless spamming going on and it is pissin some people off in here. Lemme know when it happens and I'll 1 day ban them.

I've made a some fixes on my instrumental song if anyone would like to hear, altough I still think there's a bunch more fixing to do.

I had my first day of school today, it actually wasn't that bad. My schedules pretty easy and I know people.
Anyway, I'm going to a Seether/Crossfade concert on Saturday. Has anyone seen them live before? |

Not so fast. Chris (cjborton) has been working on his quite a bit as well, and he's become quite the beast lately with this kind of thing, and I bet it's gonna be quite interesting to see who tops who. (When power metal actually becomes the contest, that is.) |
I really wish I could enter the contests. But even if I had the equipment, I still think it'll be another few years before I'm good enough to submit a song with even the slightest chance of making it past first round elimination.

My manager said I could relate to this movie(I work at a grocery store) |
I would like to be a sort of "judge" when thrash becomes the next genre. This genre gets thrown around a bit too much for its own good.

I'm still hoping to set up a video contest sometime soon. I think it would be cool to see everyone's stage presence in R&M.
Perhaps as a sequel, I could set up a similar contest which involves making an actual music video for either an existing song or an MXer's original. Anyway, I just finished up my latest composition, the first one since reading up on music theory. I'm really very pleased with it. It's an instrumental called Stardust. The thing that gets to me though was that even though I'm happy with it, I can't play it. When I sat down to try it out, I realized that the music in my head is several years ahead of me. :p If anyone's interested, I could YSI you the file. You'd have to have GuitarPro for it to work, though. |

Yeah, I'd be really interested if you uploaded that. I've been doing a lot of writing in GP as well, it's a useful tool. |
