Can you post a sample from Mr. Fantasy?

How you guys enjoying group A?
group a is def not an easy one to choose frome...
i think hendrix, vai, and allman are the best out of them, but i also want frampton or fripp and neil to advance. doesn't look like frampton or fripp have any sort of a chance though. they kinda got ****ed by being in there with hendrix and vai. AND WHY IS MORELLO GETTING SO MANY VOTES

Badmoon 03-20-2005 05:36 PM

And as for the shrooms I was going to do...The dealer ONCE AGAIN!!!! did not get them in time. I am planning to do them this Friday :)

And here is a cool LSD adventure my cousin shared with me...

He had mentioned one of his Psychedelic escapades at St. Xavier University (Illinois) with his Indian/Genius of a friend. His friend who was incredibly smart had stole some lab supplies and managed to make some LSD. He, my cousin (Tommy) and some others had taken the acid, and it was much stronger than any other they had previously taken.

So they had taken a few hits, and then ventured off to the football game. On the way back from the football game, the acid hadn't taken control yet. So they walked home. It was very dark and there was not one person on the street besides them. Until, they all see a man and a woman walking down the street. They had been dressed up very nicely (aristocrat like) and they were speaking French. Now this is a college town, what were two French aristocrats doing here, as they thought. They kept walking normally and starring at the people at the same time. Until, the woman looks at the boys and states "Life's a trip", and then disappears into the night, with her male friend.

He also toured with Phish, btw.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 03-20-2005 05:37 PM

What LSD stories did he tell you? I almost bought acid Friday, but decided against it.

Nice avatar BOnzO. I think that's what I have for my msn one right now. :thumb:
What LSD stories did he tell you? I almost bought acid Friday, but decided against it.
Don't take acid as a random kind of thing. It'd be smart to research the drug, and try other/more simple Psychedelics (Mushrooms, etc) first.

No one wants a bad trip.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-20-2005 05:43 PM

Hey Moon, can you post some samples of New Riders of the Purple Sage?

I've been trying to get some all week but I cant seem to find any. Good reveiw by the way.

Badmoon 03-20-2005 05:46 PM

I cannot now, maybe later. It would take awhile. I would have to burn them off of Itunes and then upload them onto Musicmatch, and then onto Yousendit.com.

B0nz0 03-20-2005 05:48 PM

anyone gonna post that traffic stuff too?

Badmoon 03-20-2005 06:27 PM

Post one of the better ones. Like "Whatcha Gonna Do?" or "I Don't Know You".

B0nz0 03-20-2005 06:37 PM

yay someone finally voted for fripp on the guitarist thread

Walrus Gumboot 03-20-2005 06:48 PM

wow... my dreams have been shattered, The band name "Walrus Gumboot" is already taken :upset:

Distant Echoes 03-20-2005 06:51 PM

The first rounds for the guitarist werent that good. I =ve been saying how Hendrix was going to get over-voted, but had to vote for him myself, because the others i either didnt know or didnt like.

I really hope Tom morello loses. I dont care what anybody says...i think hes terrible

BludgeonySteve 03-20-2005 06:52 PM

He's okay. Defintly overrated on this forum.

unclebobscircus 03-20-2005 06:52 PM

Heh, it's annoying me that Tom Morello is winning right now. He's not bad, but there is no way that he's comparable to Hendrix and Vai.

which ones don't you know? i will try to help you out in that are...
fripp = king crimson
bucket head = not sure where he started but had a long stint with gn'r after slash left
billy corgan = smashing pumpkins maybe? guessing here, but he shouldn't win anyways
Steve Vai = amazingly talented technical guitarist who got his start with frank zappa.
steve cropper = great blues guitarist. played with otis redding and also appears in the movie the blues brothers.

the other ones are kinda self explanatory

PinkFreud 03-20-2005 06:56 PM

hes very popular. thats it. people think hes original because of his use of effects but hes not really that either. he doesnt deserve all the votes hes getting. i really hope buckethead goes through though. hes right on the edge. more creative, versatile, technically skilled and a better songwriter than morello.

B0nz0 03-20-2005 07:03 PM

i'd rather see neil young go through than bucket head

steve cropper played with booker t and the mg's as well. i believe thats where hes most well known.

billy corgan is indeed from the smashing pumpkins though why hes up there, i dont know.

buckethead started in praxis with bernie worrell and bootsy collins as well as having a long solo career. he challenges vai for technical talent (people thought he was vai in disguise actually), more versatile than any of the others in the poll, and extremely creative. sorely underrated and underknown because of his eccentricity in his music. people always think of him as a slash rip off ever since gnr.

I didnt know 2 of them, but it does clear it up. I still wouldnt have voted for them though i knew who they were.

Did anybody watch Live-Aid concert or the Rock n Roll hall of fame ceremony? They were both great. Im buying the live-aid concert as soon as i see it in best-buy

magicbus 03-20-2005 07:10 PM

I voted Duane this round.

Woodstock 03-20-2005 07:10 PM

Yes, Cropper got his start as a session guitarist with Booker T. Duck Dunn was supposed to be a guitarist also, but he claimed that there were too many strings, and went to bass.

WOOT 1000th POST!

and it had to be here, no other thread would suffice. And i must thank u guys, cuz this thread is prob the reason i'm still a member of mx after the drums and percussion forum became more devoted to trashing travis barker than discussing tough stuff to play...

It's been a blast guys!

BludgeonySteve 03-20-2005 07:14 PM

he's a mindless shredder. But he has giant fingers so it's funny.

Post your FG. Everyone make sure he gets this please. I think most of you will like his.

Hi Classic Rock. I'll probably never come in here again but our time was nice while it lasted.

pigonthewing82 03-20-2005 07:25 PM
Oh, and pigsonthewing82, what about Within You, Without You? What role those that song play on the Billy Shears story?
With You With Out You was written by Harrison so I don't think it has anything to do with it. I agree that they probally didn't do what Townsend or Waters did and wrote a story, but I think Paul and John had a bunch of songs written that they found when put in an order they fit. I probally am thinking to much into it, but thats just the way I think of the album.

Same here. Congrats on 1000. This thread is the life and soul of R&M, unlike the midless posting i used to do in the community thread.

D&P boards get so boring after the first few months their. Now i only go their every once in a while to answer some recent questions, though i get 0 recognition for my articles and help...except for the endless IMs from n00bs asking me what sets to buy.

I never thanked you for starting this thread either dude :thumb: . It really has impacted the way hundreds of people listened to music and expanded their horizons...if you want to think of it as a spiritual deal...or whatever...

but that show yesterday on the rocknroll hall of fame was awsome with clapton, b.b. king, and buddy guy all performing. Priceless

Way to crush my dignity :upset:

Congrats to you on 1000 to. Your by far my favorite n00b here. :)

wow thanks so much... i never thought my thread influenced peoples music, but i guess it did. D&P got really boring. it used to be better when ppl would post solos and explain difficult fills and techniques. now it's all what equiptment should i buy and how do you tune your drums and travis barker is a **** *** **** **** ******* *****.

i'm pissed i missed the r&r hall of fame show. who else performed?

B0nz0, this thread has influenced my musical tastes and also expanded my knowledge of music so much.

Neil Young is twice the musician Buckethead is.
