just because they're fast doesnt necessarily mean they're anything special

Txus 08-04-2008 01:22 PM

omg, cryptopsy talk. nice.

Stevie V 08-04-2008 02:03 PM

just because st anger is **** doesn't mean kirk is a bad guitarist

McP3000 08-04-2008 03:02 PM

kirk didnt really do anything on the album. He just mimicked Hetfield.

Thor 08-04-2008 03:07 PM
Nah he sucks. He was awesome at one point, on NSV the guy had some groove and...Flo to his drumming. But everything he's done since has been messy, sloppy and awful sounding...regardless of how fast he plays.
He sounded pretty tight on The Unspoken King, though it was all very straightforward and monotonous drumming.

His performance on NSV is still top notch to me, and one of the finer drum performances in death metal still.

Tyler 08-04-2008 03:09 PM

He sounds pretty bad in every video I've seen and his drum solos are hilariously terrible.

Thor 08-04-2008 03:11 PM

I used to love his drum solos before, well, I knew anything about how drum solos should sound.

Here's the breakdown of a Flo drum solo
1. basic beat
2. DOUBLE BASSSSSSSSSSSSSS
3. BLAST BEATS
4. ONE HANDED ROLL BLAST BEATS
5. NONSENSICAL FAST ****
*repeat*

Tyler 08-04-2008 03:12 PM

It sounds like he triggers his snare now too.

Thor 08-04-2008 03:13 PM

I'm pretty sure that he just does one handed rolls. I've never heard of anyone triggering a snare before?

beans 08-04-2008 03:24 PM

me neither

McP3000 08-04-2008 03:38 PM

Dude he has his double bass going the entire ****ing album

Thor 08-04-2008 03:40 PM

...which would make it monotonous, yes?

McP3000 08-04-2008 03:40 PM

I was talking about None So Vile

Tyler 08-04-2008 03:42 PM

He has real presence and intensity on NSV, he's just annoying on everything they did after.

Thor 08-04-2008 03:43 PM

Well yeah but he was always using the entire set while doing that. His drumming on the latest album could have been done by anyone with the right chops. It seems like it didn't really take any creativity to me.

Deth 08-04-2008 04:30 PM

If memory serves me correctly, the drums were stupidly loud on the newest album as well. I'm not going to find out whether it is the case or not because it's an atrocious album and I have no desire to ever hear it again.
I'm pretty sure that he just does one handed rolls. I've never heard of anyone triggering a snare before?
Basically means you can play stupidfast by tapping the skin lightly - I heard the drummer of Trigger the Bloodshed (abbyssmal, hideously-popular-with-the-scene pseudodeath who I sat through when they supported Suffocation - sound like drums, fuzz and yowls live; they supported Dying fetus and we wisely left and got some fast food during their set) does it.

Hey now, I thought Leach was a good song. But that's it at this point.

Malfeitor 08-04-2008 05:39 PM

Let's curb this deathcore discussion by talking about the new Father Befouled - which just arrived today - and crushes 99% of nowadays DM

Charizard 08-04-2008 05:57 PM

flo mournier is very wtf lately, ill agree with tyler

their new singer's inhale attempts are funny, it's just a clear 'lol youre doing it wrong bro'

Deth 08-04-2008 05:59 PM

His live vocals just seem like an attempt to show how many kinds of bad techniques he can do in 5 minutes.

beans 08-04-2008 06:00 PM

^ that basically

carbombsandconversations 08-04-2008 06:00 PM

i can make my voice crack in over seven tones

Pete 08-04-2008 06:01 PM

carbombsandconversations 08-04-2008 06:02 PM

Pete 08-04-2008 06:02 PM
