I still don't even have Metallica's. I think I'll do that first, then possibly Megadeth's
Yeah, I'm still working on Metallica's. Then I'll move onto Megadeth's.

Britton 09-25-2005 07:08 PM

I've got all of Tallicas. And I have a bunch of megadeth songs but no actual albums
(HinT hINT Wink Wink)

Right now I'm working on Led Zeppelin :thumb:

Huber 09-25-2005 07:12 PM

I got lucky and found a torrent with Led Zeppelin's entire discography, because I thought about it and didn't think I'd end up dishing out all the cash for all of their albums. I don't like Led Zeppelin that much.

Metallica however...

Britton 09-25-2005 07:22 PM

Ah I love LZ

Apocalyptic Raids 09-25-2005 07:39 PM

brittallica: Get Rust In Peace and Peace Sells. Classics

Tom Araya would probably be my favourite thrash vocalist. His work on Reign In Blood, and the first two Slayer records is untouchable, and he does sing in Crionics off Show No Mercy.

Am I the only one to find Peace Sells... horribly over rated?

Probably.

Britton 09-25-2005 07:46 PM

I've heard E'm I just aint' bought them yet

Huber 09-25-2005 08:26 PM

KIMB and RIP are the must haves IMO

Joe 09-25-2005 08:30 PM

So i'm listening to Hanger 18. This isn't 11 solos, it's one continuous solo that whoever wrote the most popular tab tabbed out to be 11.

Ok now I think you guys can talk about Metallica in the Metallica thread, there is a Megadeth thread

clairvoyant 09-25-2005 08:30 PM

So about Metallica, how about Blackened?

Gotta love that opener :)

Joe 09-25-2005 08:36 PM
So about Metallica, how about Blackened?

Lol, not my favorite, but it's one of the coolest.

Ok, to be honest we need a change. I think we've talked about almost everything there is to talk about in here (Chu, myself, and a few others have been around since ~ 300/400 maybe earlier pages)

Talk about other bands among Metallica fans should be allowed to some degree. Especially when there isn't anything Metallica related to talk about.

hetfieldfan86 09-25-2005 08:41 PM

Yes u do...its ferocity and versatility in the sam song u won't find anywhere else. W/ the building intro insane downpicking main riff and solos....and the unmatched grit of Hetfields vocals...really on that whole album....it doesn't get much better than that.....'cept for maybe Battery...battery!! ROCK ON!!!

Joe 09-25-2005 08:43 PM
Talk about other bands among Metallica fans should be allowed to some degree. Especially when there isn't anything Metallica related to talk about.
Yea, you're right.

So, Trivium, Bodom, and Amon Amarth are coming to DC. I'm thinkin I'm going to buy tickets (because no one in my family will...)

In fact... I'm off to bed, goodnight peoples

g°®† 09-25-2005 08:45 PM

I used to be a crazed Metal Head but then after Metallica's latest album, I've found myself listening to more Classic Rock .... there's no going wrong there. I hardly listen to metal anymore.

Darkness 09-25-2005 08:52 PM

That made little to no sense... Why was it talking about Rage?

hetfieldfan86 09-25-2005 08:54 PM

wait..what made no sense??

Pink Floyd, Ten Years After, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, etc .... timeless and forever good music.

smart blockhead 09-25-2005 09:29 PM

How do you guys feel abou Dave Mustaine? I'm not trying to start an arguement and I won't argue with your point of view. I'm genuinely curious how Metallica fans view him. What do you think of his guitar playing and songwriting abilities? Do you think Metallica would have been just as good if Mustaine would have stayed? How do you feel about Megadeth?

hetfieldfan86 09-26-2005 01:35 AM

Persoanlly i think hes alright..sometimes gr8. I think hes one of the best guitarists of the genre...2nd only behind the like of Hetfield, Hammett, Wylde, Slash, a few others. Sometimes i don't like his vocals...but other times they do rock pretty hard. He just sounds kinda weird sometimes. And about the whole "what of" idea...I don't think Metallica would be the same had Kirk not come into the picture. Its like Bob Rock said...James, Kirk, and Lars are the heart and soul of Metallica. Just his personality and the solos and feel hes brought to the band. I mean just think about all the classics: Sanitarium, Fade to Black, One, MOP, Creeping Death none of those solos would be if Mustaince were in there. Thats the way i look at it....and i just don't think Dave could have written as huge and climactic kinda solos that were on the Black Album. ROCK ON!!!!

hetfieldfan86 09-26-2005 02:00 AM

Oh...sry..I mean tto say "what if " idea for Mustaine back in '83

Apocalyptic Raids 09-26-2005 03:17 AM

I don't think Kirk is that integral to the Metallica sound. Sure the solos might have been different, but overall picture he is pretty irrelevant.

Also, use the edit button next time.

Chu 09-26-2005 06:31 AM

I totally prefer Mustaine to both Hetfield and Hammett. I don't even like Hammett that much.

Cliffmeister 09-26-2005 07:32 AM

Darrell"Dimebag"Abbott is better than all three of them put together.

ThrashMaster27 09-26-2005 07:38 AM
Darrell"Dimebag"Abbott is better than all three of them put together.
Opinions are fine, but what has that got to do with Metallica?

Huber 09-26-2005 07:42 AM
Darrell"Dimebag"Abbott is better than all three of them put together.
I highly doubt it.

Freakgd 09-26-2005 08:33 AM

does any one bend 7 on seek and destroy other then hammer on the 8 i think it sounds better if bend the 7 to a certain point then bend it back. i wanna hear ur techniques at get that perfect screech in the start of the song

PepsiMetal 09-26-2005 10:15 AM
Darrell"Dimebag"Abbott is better than all three of them put together.
Maybe if he was still alive. But yea, what does this have anything to do with metallica? There are better guitarists than anyone you name.

Cliffmeister 09-26-2005 10:19 AM

Don't get me wrong Metallica are my favourite band it's just "Dimebag" Can shred.

Jev 09-26-2005 10:23 AM

Eh?
Shred isn't everything. I'm pretty sure Dave and Kirk could shred if they wanted to.

Kyle 09-26-2005 10:25 AM

*shakes head.

I actually prefer Dimebag to Kirk and possibly James, but if your oppinion is based on "he can shred" then you are a fool.

Cliffmeister 09-26-2005 10:26 AM

maybe they could but they never do and i'd love to hear kirk shred.

Kirks early solos from Kill 'em all e.t.c are pretty fast, I don't know about shred though  But anyway what difference does speed make, its just an element of guitar playing, it bores me.

fatbandit 09-26-2005 11:34 AM

I prefer writing "Dimebag" without "inverted commas".

I like Dimebag. He had a cool style. But that style fit Pantera more. He wouldn't have worked in Megadeth or Metallica.

Frankly, if you're going on speed and technicality, he isn't as good as Kirk or Dave IMO :/

:smash:

Jev 09-26-2005 11:40 AM

I don't really like him. Sure he's good but not my style. I don't like Zakk Wylde either.
