GurS 08-16-2005 04:29 AM

Morning guys.

Lord Abortion 08-16-2005 05:44 AM

Gur...you killed the thread

that's the main reason I decided not to do series' I may do a few from time to time, I plan to do a cannibal corpse one in the near future once I talk to med... but I hope that will be an official one, not a random one, Alex- your threads are always good and you seem to be getting through to people

Riva's is excellent always too...however the others lack finesse except the occasional one...

GurS 08-16-2005 05:56 AM

rather than a series, i'm thinking of posting a few essays discussing elements of music, or of certain artists. I'm in the middle of writing two:

Dylan and Cohen: A discursive essay on folk-rock's greatest lyricists.
The lasting legacy of NWOBHM: Where it came from, what it was, and what it's done for the world of music.

Hopefully they'll be good.

dUSK 08-16-2005 07:07 AM
I cant remember the song name, but it is in a scene that involves someone getting 3 limbs choppeed off, and catching fire. Its funny how great it works with the scene.
Care to let us know when you can remember what song it was? And also give a specific example of it being synced. I'll look into it if you do. :)

Six Foot Revolver 08-16-2005 07:27 AM

Ollie: I always thought that the ones by Moses were great too, there aren't many more than those three that I read. I read yours though Ollie :-*

Gur: Good Morning(Afternoon), The NWOBHM sounds helluva interesting

Jom 08-16-2005 11:08 AM

So, Sin City got released on DVD today

I went and picked it up at Best Buy because my brother needed to get a gift card for some birthday party he has to go to.

There are four or five different covers, featuring two main characters in the story; for example, Rourke/King, Owen/Shellie, Del Toro/Bledel, etc.

But pfft. Why have those when I can have Jessica Alba on mine? :)

Oh yeah, that Bruce Willis dude is on it too. Oh well.

Six Foot Revolver 08-16-2005 11:11 AM

Sin City doesn't come out on DVD here for another month or so I think. I would definately get the Willis/Alba combo as well :)

NJMetalMeister 08-16-2005 11:16 AM

Sin City comes out on DVD in america today, my roommate just got it, and he got the Del Toro/Bledel one, not my first choice, but its his money so whatever.

Cain 08-16-2005 11:16 AM

I need to pick that up. It's been quite a while since I've seen it, and I meant to see it at least once more before it got out of the theaters. Sadly, this was not to be. :(

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-16-2005 11:22 AM

I still haven't seen it. :upset: Maybe I'll rent it when my mom gets back from whereever she is.

NP: Symphony X- The Odyssey

I'm so amazed my this song. 24 minutes of pure beauty. Hopefully when I talk to Moses next, I'll have my thread up on the song. :-D

Lord Abortion 08-16-2005 11:24 AM

so I got all my manic street preachers albums ripped onto my computer, and am refreshed after not listening to them for a while how much they own

EDIT: I'll sound like a noob for this, but how the hell do you get around the word limit filter on the Usertitle?

MBS 08-16-2005 11:26 AM
Oh yeah, that Bruce Willis dude is on it too. Oh well.

:bruce:
My thoughts exactly.

I still haven't seen Sin City :upset:

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-16-2005 11:28 AM

Cain- Word limit filter? wtf do you mean?

And can someone explain to me the original reason why :bruce: is funny? I saw something about it in Ramsey's dictionary..

Jom 08-16-2005 11:31 AM

Jake: long user title hack he means.

Also: :bruce: was a smiley made by CJS (I think). There was a running gag in The Pit where people MSPaint'd Bruce's face over a smiley, and people would say "What, you can't see Bruce? Destroy your computer." Bartender had a link to show us earlier in the thread, I'll see if I can find it.

Cain: Get on AIM.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-16-2005 11:35 AM

Cain- You have to donate some money to mx. It's to cover things like the new server, and basically everything else that the banner ads don't cover. AIM me for a more in depth story on this

Jom- Wahah, that's halarious. Photoshop++

NP: Symphony X- Wicked

Crap, I'm a freaking Symphony X fanboy now. :upset:

evilmenhavenosongs 08-16-2005 11:39 AM

I haven't seen Sin City because I'm too ickle to get in to see it. They always ID me. :upset: Strange how I can buy alcohol though.

I want to get Hostage on DVD though, that was the coolest film ever. Plus Mars looked like Trent Reznor. Trent Reznor's had his head shaved. :upset:

Woah, you can really tell I'm doped up on painkillers and chocolate. :(

Lord Abortion 08-16-2005 11:41 AM

Yeah, the four smilies in one post kinda gave it away

PinkFreud 08-16-2005 11:41 AM

im buying it soon. very soon.

not sure which cover to get though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-16-2005 11:42 AM

Hostage did own. I saw it the day I got my wisdom teeth out, and it was seriously the only thing I did that made the pain subside, mainly because I was too engulfed in the movie to worry about my swollen face. :p

EDIT: Hey guys, August '04 is the greatest mx month. Basically every user* that joined then has starz0rz.

*or five of us.

MBS 08-16-2005 11:42 AM

He's viewing the pit, that buttface. You need to come back to R&M and stay once you see this post, Cain.

Lord Abortion 08-16-2005 11:42 AM

I'm ordering final fantasy XI on friday :D

Permanent Solution 08-16-2005 11:44 AM

I still haven't seen Sin City...and sadly don't have a huge interest to...

I'm kind of bored with movies right now :-\

EDIT to Jake: :upset:
Yeah, the four smilies in one post kinda gave it away
:upset: I'm at it again as well.

I think my favourite scene in Hostage was either when Mars kills the two brothers or when he's in the swimming pool. or when he pops out the ventilation shaft with his molotov cocktail. Or when she stabs him.

I went to see it with my friends and by the end of it they were all; "you found him hot didn't you?" :upset:

How much does it cost per month?

ATM 08-16-2005 11:51 AM

Symphony X don't really do anything for me. It sounds too cheesy.

Lord Abortion 08-16-2005 11:52 AM
How much does it cost per month?
probably about £5 I think
no idea how much that is in monopoly money though :p

Lord Abortion 08-16-2005 12:02 PM

I am pissed off with games you have to go out and buy to play online, what's wrong with just downloading stuff?

I'm like 7-13, I normally just go on and **** around in ffas or play custom games anymore.

Jom 08-16-2005 12:20 PM

Sorry if this is late news, but how many of you would be up for fantasy football this year, similar to the one we had for the NCAA tourney?

EDIT: sorry to the Europeans, they probably aren't interested/don't care.

Also, would you want to play the actual fantasy football game, or the Pro Pick 'Em game, or both?

People in so far:

I'd probably be up for that. Usually my brother makes a league and I play there, but he isn't this year.

NJMetalMeister 08-16-2005 12:44 PM

Woo i have a job interview at a bookshop tomorrow, which means that im well on my way to being the real life Bernard Black.
