ride the lightning is an awesome album. every song is excellent. Ive got the Rust In Peace album, and i like it, but mustaines voice grates after a while
Quoted for truth. Hetfield had a much better voice in RTL.

Jev 09-25-2005 01:12 PM

Mustaine's voice is awesome, you just gotta get used to it.

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 01:13 PM

I love mustaines voice.

PepsiMetal 09-25-2005 01:16 PM

I like his lyrics more than his vocals. Or whoever wrote megadeth's lyrics. Like that, what do you mean I dont pay my bills, why do you think I broke, huh. lol. They're pretty cool sometimes. His voice doesn't suck he just doesn't really sing alot.

Joe 09-25-2005 01:17 PM
I love mustaines voice.
It's average, I don't really like it all that much.

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 01:19 PM

Its really diverse. Better than james.

Joe 09-25-2005 01:20 PM
Its really diverse. Better than james.
Well that's an opinion. James' voice on the Black Album beats anything next to Freddie Mercury.

I don't mind Dave's voice, but I listen to them more for the music instead of the lyrics and vocals

Thor 09-25-2005 01:21 PM
Its really diverse. Better than james.
Well it's better than James' old voice, but his voice really developed over the years.

heavy metal kid 09-25-2005 01:21 PM
Am I the only one who thinks Peace sells is better than ride the lightning?
maybe, but RTL is way better than PSBWB.

from 1983 to 1989 all the Metallica albums where better than Megadeth's.
But then RIP came up, wich is better than the metallica albums.

From 1991 till today is practically the same for the bands.

Like i say before, is a little unfair to compare Metallica with Megadeth, one barely touch the thrash sound and the other never(or barely) touched hard rock, progressive, traditional heavy metal or country. :p

PepsiMetal 09-25-2005 01:24 PM

Maynard and James are 2 best thrash metal vocalists imo. James is diverse probably but he always wants to have that signature sound. I mean when someone covers a metallica song you know the vocals can't sound like hetfield's.

metalhead_matt 09-25-2005 01:24 PM

this whole thing is a matter of opinion, if I say 'james voice is better', everyone is going to go'yeah, your right, sorry about that'...its all opinion....just to point that out, but you all probably knew that

anyways, mustaine...hanger 18 on rust in peace :thumb: love the intro, and when he sings 'know too much' or something.

But then the WHOLE ride the lightning album has great vocals and general music. think about each song induvidually.

fight fire with fire - traditional thrash metal song

ride the lightning - its not too easy to sing and play the verse at the same time

for whom the bell tolls - like most songs on the album, a classic

fade to black - need i say more

trapped under ice - good song :)

escape - i put the chorus lyrics in my 'final words' in the year book when i left school

creeping death - another classic

call of ktulu - one of the best intrumentals? this and orion IMO

metalhead_matt 09-25-2005 01:25 PM
Well it's better than James' old voice, but his voice really developed over the years.
S & M...so 123

I agree, I actually like his voice on load, It was alot more diverse.

Heavy metal kid, I disagree with you, but im not gonna be an a s s hole about it. I just came here because there was no one in the Megadeth forum.

sorry i responded to the wrong post.

No problem, i like when people have different opinnions, you can make your point here.

edit:so i wasn't directed to my post?

No, definetly not. They are prog rock.

PepsiMetal 09-25-2005 01:30 PM
No, definetly not. They are prog rock.
Whoops. They sound thrashy at times. hehe Nevermind on him being best thrash vocalist then. Yea, james is probably one of the best in thrash then.

Jev 09-25-2005 01:30 PM

I prefer Dave's voice. It's pretty different, suits the music and hasn't really gotten weaker over the years.

Thor 09-25-2005 01:31 PM
Whoops. They sound thrashy at times. hehe Nevermind on him being best thrash vocalist then. Yea, james is probably one of the best in thrash then.
Just wondering, but why do you have such a bad album as your avatar?

I just can't stand Hammerfall in any way. They're just so mediocre.

Huber 09-25-2005 01:31 PM

Oh man, swing and a miss.

heavy metal kid 09-25-2005 01:32 PM

James isn't the best thrash singer, neither dave, but in that scene Dave is way better.
As an overall singer James is better, the black album, live **** and ajfa could be a good example of james vocal power

Thor 09-25-2005 01:33 PM

Best thrash singer = Tom Araya. :thumb:

I dont know, I like their stuff. Most of their albums kick ***. Well as far as power metal goes at least.

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 01:34 PM
No problem, i like when people have different opinnions, you can make your point here.

It actually was, I just confused myself.
I dont know, I like their stuff. Most of their albums kick ***. Well as far as power metal goes at least.
I like your avatar album. I really like Hammerfall. I like a ton of different kinds of metal.

Huber 09-25-2005 01:36 PM

Chuck Billy has an awesome range.

As far as singing goes, I believe the title would go to James.

heavy metal kid 09-25-2005 01:36 PM
Best thrash singer = Tom Araya. :thumb:
Indeed, but his voice got weakened,at least the crazy screams like the one on angel of death.

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 01:41 PM

I dont really like tom arya because all he does is shout into the microphone. I do give him props for War ensamble though.

Jev 09-25-2005 01:42 PM

Tom's not all that.

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 01:44 PM

I'm in deep s h i t. I just pissed of a bunch of Cannible corpse fans.

PepsiMetal 09-25-2005 01:45 PM

I've only heard his work in slayer and yea he doesn't have clean vocals. Most of it is shouting and such. I like james' better.

Huber 09-25-2005 01:48 PM

Tom was meant for Slayer, but that's about it.

I like James' style a lot more.

heavy metal kid 09-25-2005 01:48 PM
I've only heard his work in slayer and yea he doesn't have clean vocals. Most of it is shouting and such. I like james' better.
but we where refering to araya in THRASH aspect, not overall.

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 01:55 PM

I think chuck billy is one of the best thrashists.

Chu 09-25-2005 05:16 PM
I dunno I kinda disagree with that, Ellefson never really did that many interesting basslines in Megadeth.
Are you kidding?!
On every album Ellefson was a part of (Yeah that's pretty much all :p ), there was a sweet bassline. His bassline for the whole Peace Sells album is one of the best!
I would hope so. Ride the Lightning was a ****ing metal masterpiece.
123 Ride The Lightning is so good
Mustaine's voice is awesome, you just gotta get used to it.
Definately 123! After a while, Mustaine's voice is just so good! :p
It's an acquired taste I have found. But I really like it, no one else could sing for Megadeth.

clairvoyant 09-25-2005 05:47 PM

Peace Sells was probably his most interesting album. But after Rust In Peace his basslines got really boring.

Britton 09-25-2005 06:55 PM

I love Megadeth, I don't own a single album but I might start colloecting.
I have about 40 songs...so I'm not sure if that says alot...but I enjoy them

Chu 09-25-2005 07:03 PM

You should get their entire Discography.

Joe 09-25-2005 07:05 PM
You should get their entire Discography.
I still don't even have Metallica's. I think I'll do that first, then possibly Megadeth's
