Yeah, I was just replying to you because your post was closer to my cursor. :p

What am I meant to be looking for exactly?

Everyone read all this. It's REALLY interesting.

Darkness 05-07-2006 06:32 PM

Can you post whats interesting? I'm not registered.

Shadius 05-07-2006 07:31 PM
Jimmy is one of my favorites. For some reason that song just hits the spot for me.

I agree with Lateralus being more interesting, though. It's the best album I've ever heard. :D
I'd say the opposite, personally.

Though I love both albums.

Also, jimmy is the worst song on Ænima for me.

It's really bloody long (15 or so pages on a Word document), he made it into 10+ posts. It's really indepth.

Also, I noticed that in some songs (10,000 Days, The Pot) hugely significant changes happen at the exact half way point. Wonder what it all means. I've checked Rosetta, and nothing significant happens at the half way point, and i've not checked the others.

I seriously recommend all to read that text document.

gmoneyguy 05-07-2006 07:36 PM

I honestly hate the term "filler". Whose to say they are filler songs but the artists themselves.

Shadius 05-07-2006 07:40 PM

Useful idiot, Intermission and Message are clearly filler on Ænima. Satan is debatable.

I can say this because they're not songs.

As for the article.. started reading the first few pages, and got a bit bored because he's not saying anything we don't already know or I havn't thought before reading it.

You should read further. The thing about duality really interests me with this album.

Explain to me how they are not songs.

I'm sure he doens't mean in the literal sense. He means songs like The Patient, and The Grudge are songs, where as Mantra, and Eon Blue Apocalypse are 'fillers' of a sort.

I view them as interludes of the Album. Which contributes to the Album as whole. That why I hate when people use that term for songs that are not necessarily the main songs.

Yeah, I dislike the word aswell, but it's the best way to describe it to, and for some people.

deadohiosky9 05-07-2006 08:18 PM

Incubliss, thanks for posting that link here. That was really an amazing interpretation. It was incredibly interesting, he made some very valid points that I agree with wholeheartedly. I had always thought that there might have been a reason for some recurring riffs in songs but simply thrown it out as overanalyzing...but paraflux really ties it in very well.
Lateralus was incredible on DXM.
Wahah, dancing is great on DXM too, man.

syrup or pills?

Anyways, I let my dad hear some of Lateralus right after he heard some of my stuff in GP4, he says I take lots of influence from them.

Go figure.

Seed Awakening 05-07-2006 09:26 PM

I don't think I've ever listened to Tool on DXM, but I've listened to Lateralus on shrooms on two different occasions, it blew my mind both times. If you haven't done shrooms then you won't understand but the amount of dynamics on Lateralus really affects you if your tripping hard.

On a seperate note, you should try listening to stuff like Infected Mushrooms, Astral Projection, and Shpongle on DXM, in my opinion trance is the best music for DXM. Its good for E too.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-07-2006 09:33 PM

E=x?

E= Ecstacy

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-07-2006 09:52 PM

That's what I thought. It's one of the drugs on my to do list.

1) Shrooms + Tool
2) X + night clubbing

Moses 05-07-2006 09:59 PM

Jake, when did you start doing drugs? I bet it was during that long absence.

Vicks 44. It was an amazing experience.

magicbus 05-07-2006 10:02 PM

Jake, drugs? Pah!

:p

I just picked up 10,000 Days today. I've already listened to the leaked album, but I like it. I still like Lateralus more, just because it has a "concept album" feel to it, and I like when all the songs seem to be related like that.

I really like this one too though. The album art is awesome as well.

I smoked weed for the first time a year ago, and then I didn't do anything for like 6 months. Now I just expiriment with things. I don't do any drugs any closer than like 1 week intervals, so it's not like drugs took over my life and I defected away from mx or anything...
Ive cried over Tool, when i saw them live in Melbourne i was at the front near Adam and Maynard and the combination of the music (the i embrace my desire to section of Lateralus) the visuals and the event itself which was too much for me emotionally.

Yeah im a bitch :upset:
Adam Jones admitted in an interview to crying while playing some of their songs.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-07-2006 10:16 PM

I've cried during Wings twice, and Right in Two gave me an orgasm once.

Literally.

Moses 05-07-2006 10:20 PM

I like Tool better with headphones.

gmoneyguy 05-07-2006 10:35 PM

Now that I think about Tool would have been cool to listen to on my Acid trip.

In a rap song.

"Hecka Checka Checka Hecka!"
:)

Hm. Damn, I thought I invented that word.

That is how addictions start

Riva 05-08-2006 03:00 AM

I've cried during songs. I don't see what the problem is. Good music should tug at your emotions, be it sadness, anger, resolve, happiness.

JamJar 05-08-2006 03:07 AM

The only song that I've cried while listening to is Vocari Dei by Pain Of Salvation

Mr_Bounce 05-08-2006 07:12 AM

/listened to piano dude

You're really fast, but there is almost no melodic feel. Are you just trying to play fast for fun?

deadinholywood 05-08-2006 08:03 AM

And All That Could Have Been by NIN has been known to make me cry too, im a wuss :upset:
