10,000 Days = length of time between MJK's mother becoming ill and her death.
Apparently Adam sat out on 46&2 at one of the recent shows, and his guitar tech played the whole song, wonder why that was |
She was sick for 27 years?
Wouldn't it be the total time she was alive? |
Yeah, because I calculated it, and yeah, just over 27 years.
But then I thought ok, so that rules out his mum being only 27 years old, so I did think that it had something to do with her sickness and it's length. |
She was sick for 27 years?
Wouldn't it be the total time she was alive?
I think it was paralysis or something of that nature, cant say without looking up, but it was certinally a life altering problem. And even though its been said before, APC's Judith song deals with his mother's illness too, although its more focused on his anger at the God she puts so much faith in doing something like that to her |
What's her name?
Judith Marie Keenan? Marie Judith Keenan? Niether... |
Oh ok. I just read up on it. She was partially paralysed for 27 years following a stroke.
EDIT: Judith Marie Garrison. Second EDIT: It's similar to James Hetfield's anger at God for allowing his mother, also a very devout Christian, to die of cancer. |
Poor woman.
However the eulogy to her on 10,000 Days is magnificent. The climax in Part 2 is amazing. |
The lyrics to Judith are the only ones i've seen MJK talk openly about before, maybe he'll do the same with 10k Days after a while. And I agree with the James Hefield similarity, though both did go about the matter in different ways
|
How so? They both expressed themselves through music, though the music is different.
|
Yeah that was what I was getting at, they expressed it in different ways in their music.
Although on re-reading Hefield's lyrics, there are more similarities than I first thought. I should give the guy more credit |
Yeah, you should. :p I'm no longer a major Metallica fanboy, but James holds a place in my heart even now.
|
Any word on when the Australian tour will be?
|
Yeah, that would be nice to find out...
Hey, did you see them on Rage last night? |
Yeah. It was pretty good. They programmed some awful music though.
|
Some of it was alright. The best part was their videos.
|
Yeah. I have all their videos on my computer yet for some reason I had to stay up until 3am to watch them in crappy quality on TV.
|
I think its Marie Judith Keenan hence Maynard James Keenan >.>

I was bored...

He says Judith Marie at least once. Plus Maynard isn't really a part of his name. |
He says Judith Marie at least once.
Plus Maynard isn't really a part of his name.
Isn't Maynard just a nickname? |
His real name is James Herbert Keenan. Maybe Hubert, I'm not exactly sure, Maynard is a name of one of MJK's war heroes or something to that effect.
|
Hmm... I always thought Maynard was his real name.
|
I just picked up Ænima, I have very high expectations.
|

Its a very good album, but like most Tool it takes sometime to grow on you. |
Hmm... I always thought Maynard was his real name.
I had no idea it wasn't his real name. Then again, almost everything Tool does or says is a total lie. I've been getting into Opiate & Undertow. Loving Vacarious as well. It's made it's way into my 25 top songs in iTunes. |
I've also been getting into Undertow recently despite having the album for a year now.

prepare to be disappointed* *amazed. |
prepare to be disappointed*
*amazed.
hahahaha. It kicks off with one of their best songs. Eulogy. H. is excellent as well. It's good all the way through. |
Pushit will always remain my favorite track from that cd.
|
Stinkfist and Jimmy are my two least favourites on the album, they just don't stand out as much as the more proggy longer pieces.
|
I agree with the Jimmy part.
|
No real weak points on Aenima, but it's also just not as interesting to me as Lateralus.

Yup yup. |
Stinkfist and Jimmy are my two least favourites on the album, they just don't stand out as much as the more proggy longer pieces.
Jimmy is one of my favorites. For some reason that song just hits the spot for me. I agree with Lateralus being more interesting, though. It's the best album I've ever heard. :D |
No real weak points on Aenima, but it's also just not as interesting to me as Lateralus.
You don't see the excessive amount of filler tracks as a weak point? Aenima has some great songs on it, but too much crap imo. |
Hey everyone, new here, but whatever
Anyways i love the new album, but i guess im just lucky becasue this is basicly what i sift threw tool to find in most albums, and yesterday i was thinking about rosetta stoned. Thinking maybe the parts from old songs( Reflection, Third eye are what i heard) came up for a reason? relfection and third eye both have ( or seems) a connection to alternate consciences, and so does rosettas stoned (if you look at it like i do :p ) and i was thinking maybe maynard had a great idea, but forgot it afterwards. or does that make no sence at all? |
You don't see the excessive amount of filler tracks as a weak point? Aenima has some great songs on it, but too much crap imo.
I enjoy some of the fillers, especially Die Eier Von Satan and Intermission. Not to mention that they're easily skippable if you really hate them that much. |
Lateralus was incredible on DXM.
|
I enjoy some of the fillers, especially Die Eier Von Satan and Intermission. Not to mention that they're easily skippable if you really hate them that much.
Why bother skipping them? They take like a minute. And Die Eier Von Satan isn't really filler, you know.
Stinkfist and Jimmy are my two least favourites on the album, they just don't stand out as much as the more proggy longer pieces.
I like Stinkfist quite a lot on that album. Second only to AEnima, I think.
I just picked up Ænima, I have very high expectations.
Great album. My second favourite.
I think its Marie Judith Keenan hence Maynard James Keenan >.>
Go look up his Wikipedia article then. |
I don't know, I wasn't the one complaining about them :| |
