I'm saying it's musically dense.
I'm in 7th grade, dude  |
oh you're excused. And....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Introspection |
That explains a lot.
I mean, I knew you were young but I didn't realize you were quite that young. |
I feel like a geezer now.
|
I still mean that, though. I know what interospective means and I still think post rock is connected to it.
|

as in it makes you think introspectively? |
Ehh, I guess. I still don't think you're grasping totally the concept of what I was voicing, but it's ok.
|
Ehh, I guess. I still don't think you're grasping totally the concept of what I was voicing, but it's ok.
its helps to explain it, instead letting my try to figure out what you mean. |
I meant that from my take of it, the musicians make introspective music in that they look inwardly to create it insted of pulling the song out of their ***. It has a deeper meaning and is crafted from inward emotions. That's why I think that post rock is so musically dense, because it comes from somewhere that can only really be diciphered and interpreted musically by the artist writing the song. It can't be written by them or forced.

Thats a lot of music outside of post rock too, but that not introspective its giving thought to your music.
Introspection is the self-observation and reporting of conscious inner thoughts, desires and sensations. It is a conscious mental and usually purposive process relying on thinking, reasoning, and examining one's own thoughts and feelings. It can also be called contemplation of one's self, and is contrasted with extrospection, the observation of things external to one's self. Introspection may be used synonymously with self-reflection and used in a similar way.
from the link you didn't read. |
Meh, like I said, from my take of it. Like for instance, when the first snare pattern comes in on Your Hand In Mine, I think it's such an emotionally powerful and driving point in the song. Though alot of music may be emotional in this way, the really swelling and building way that post rock has about it tends to have me more mesmerised than most other genres.

but that not introspective, there has to be verbal communication before you can call it that. |
Hbp is 13?
hahaha and i thought i was young |
I'm saying it's musically dense.
I'm in 7th grade, dude
Are you serious? |
/pumps fist
I'm not the youngest! |
but that not introspective, there has to be verbal communication before you can call it that.
So you don't think that an artist can communicate his feelings through his music? And no, I'm 12. |
hahaha.
|
lol
I was 15-16 or so when I first started posting here. I thought that was young. |
I was just turning 14 when I joined.
|
I had just turned 12.
|
i was 12 when i joined but i was too shy to post until the year after.
so yeah, Laughing Stock is an awesome album. |
I joined at 17.
|
I just don't understand why age plays such a factor here, I mean, if I can post like anyone else, why does it matter how old I am?
|
it's weird because you act like you're much older.
|
I don't act that way on purpose
|
it's weird because you act like you're much older.
No, he acts very much his age. Or, rather, sometimes it seems like he acts like a 12 year old trying to act older than he is. |
I try and be myself. That is all.
|
I was 14 when I first joined.
|
I try and be myself. That is all.
12 year olds don't have the psychological readiness to be themselves. |
That's untrue.
|
Actually truer words have never been spoken.
|
Indeed.
|
We get what you mean Hbp, maybe introspective isn't the right word.
And man, if I was on here when I was 12 I would be all about spamming dogshit like 'np: LIMP BiZkit - NooKiE~!!! BeST MeTalL BADn EVER lOloLOlo'. From which i'd incur pooploads of immediate neg reps and lengthy bans. |
That's the way Hbp was when he first got here.
|
I never listened to Limp Bizkit, so I missed that whole speal :p
|
Yeah, I guess Limp Bizkit was before your time.
|
Indeed they were.
|
Ha, when Limp Bizkit was in you were 4-5 years old.
|
I know, I remember hearing them on the radio very faintly.
|
Ok, but pretty much everyone can look back to when they first joined themselves and admit how woeful some of their posts and opinions on music were compared to now. Consider how much people change after being here for a while.
EDIT: to Kage also, @ Hbp, thank christ you never had to put up with LB fools. |
