NWOAHM.

what does that stand for?

IheartSP 08-05-2005 03:48 PM

New Wave of American Heavy Metal, the difference is Bodom is from Finland, but the music sounds similar...

flamesofbodom 08-05-2005 03:53 PM

I knew that part.

Damn i need a Mastodon cd

EDIT: where did Sliptallica's post go

Hells Bells 08-05-2005 04:04 PM

heh, so we're still talking about IYF. I was disappointed by it, but meh. I'm sure the rest of the album will be better. It should be if it has more songs like TL&S

And naboo has CoB's cover of Oops? hehehe awesome, I can't wait to hear it.

I've actually heard that it wasn't too impressive. :upset:

flamesofbodom 08-05-2005 04:06 PM

I just want to hear him sing the chorus

Taste_My_Scythe 08-05-2005 04:07 PM
I just want to hear him sing the chorus
 Definately. Also, they're supposed to be speaking in Suomi in one part of the song. That should be interesting. Has anyone ever listened all the way to the end of Hate Crew Deathroll (the song) and heard them talking (and making fun of, it sounds like) the one riff in Sixpounder? It's great. "Vitu" can clearly be heard several times.

flamesofbodom 08-05-2005 04:09 PM

I just have silence.......WTF?

Shred Danson 08-05-2005 04:09 PM

 I want to hear this cover.

They always pick out the most out-of-the-ordinary songs to cover.

Taste_My_Scythe 08-05-2005 04:12 PM
I just have silence.......WTF?
 Dude. Put the album on, turn the volume all the way up and listen hard. You can hear Alexi, Janne and I think Kippo talking. And making weird noises. When they all start doing the same noises, "da da da da DA!" and making it sound weird, they're talking about one riff on Sixpounder. :thumb: It's funny.

flamesofbodom 08-05-2005 04:17 PM

 WTF...i just hear shit talk and there were three times where it sounded like someone's puking....why is he whistling? WTF is do dodo Do dodo dooooo dodo dodo!? Now it sounds like humming...im so fuckin lost

IheartSP 08-05-2005 04:17 PM

I didn't know that was any more than just silence

Taste_My_Scythe 08-05-2005 04:18 PM

No one is puking, they're still working at recording I think. Either that or just messing with each other. The humming you hear, do do do doooo! thing, is one of the riffs from Sixpounder! That's what I was talking about.

flamesofbodom 08-05-2005 04:19 PM

Oh....dammit i feel really stupid :upset:

Taste_My_Scythe 08-05-2005 04:23 PM

EDIT: go listen to sixpounder. If you've got the humming in your head, you'll hear it. It's the part after the second verse I think; when the guitars go up and up and up and UP (and hold), then go back to the second main riff.

EDIT2: Keep listening to Sixpounder and you'll find it. Ciao guys.

AA-12 08-05-2005 04:33 PM

Eh, I don't hear that part.

Huber 08-05-2005 04:38 PM

Heh, I stealth deleted. My post was kinda random and pointless.

If you do the AIM thing I can get you Leviathan.

here guys
hxxp://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1XB4L6QWPNKQQ2BEBFKVZUGFCF
oops i did it again cover, I don't really like it but meh

Huber 08-05-2005 04:43 PM

Does that sound like Alexi to you guys? Some parts don't sound like him at all.

Hells Bells 08-05-2005 04:58 PM

That's because some parts aren't him, they put some of the britney's vocals in. lol no, I know you weren't talking about that :p I thought it sounded like him...I'd be able to recognize Alexi's vocals anywhere.

True, it wasn't that great, but it amused me just because it was bodom covering britney spears

Huber 08-05-2005 04:59 PM

Yeah, I don't think they cared if people liked it or not. Simply for humor.

Hells Bells 08-05-2005 05:03 PM

Exactly, it was all a big joke, I mean...come on, would they do a cover like that for any other reason? It's so full of randomness, the finnish talking, Alexi exaggerating everything completely...
I've gotta say though, Alexi's vocals sound much better than the original :p

AA-12 08-05-2005 05:15 PM

 That's awesome.

IheartSP 08-05-2005 05:43 PM

that is funny as hell!

Shattered_Future 08-05-2005 05:52 PM

Brilliant song...cracked me up.

Scary thing is, though, the solo in that song was better than the one on the official single...

IheartSP 08-05-2005 05:53 PM

It's different on the single?

Shadows 08-05-2005 05:55 PM

He probably means the Britney Spears solo was better than the In your Face one.

I'm glad CoB has a sense of humor. :)

Shattered_Future 08-05-2005 05:56 PM
He probably means Britney Spears solo was better than the In your Face one.
:thumb:

You got it.

IheartSP 08-05-2005 05:56 PM

Oh you confused me, but yes I agree, this solo is better than IYF

Shadows 08-05-2005 05:58 PM

It has more substance. I thought Alexi's tone on the In Your Face solo sounded weak and didn't stand out against the rest of the band.

Hells Bells 08-05-2005 06:04 PM

Definitely agreed. But that's also very confusing...Alexi's an awesome guitarist with a great appreciation of music, I couldn't see him being happy with that song, especially the solo.

IheartSP 08-05-2005 06:05 PM

One of his favorite genres is punk

But that doesn't make any sense either. He has his punk side project Kylahullut to get all the punk out of his sytem, so he shouldn't have to bring it into CoB.

What's wrong with liking punk? I myself love a lot of punk.

I never understood why all these metal guys loved to tell about how they love punk and punk is such a huge influence on their music. I hate punk. If I ever wrote punk-influenced music, I'd be too ashamed to tell anyone it was punk-influenced.

Maybe he likes punk because it is a great genre?

Thrash owes everything to punk.

not exactly, speed metal and the nwobhm were also a big influence on thrash.
