no need to apologize, i was just happy to actually be there. :p I'm pretty sure John plays keyboards and piano, Paul might've on some tracks. Don't know who plays harmonica on songs like "love me do"..my guess would be Paul.
Ringo plays harmonica on Love Me Do. He had just joined the band about two weeks before the single's release. |
really? didn't know that. how about in sgt. pepper? who played those instruments?
|
George Martin played that funny keyboard solo on In My Life, if I'm not mistaken.
Haha, it's hard for me to picture that. |
Ringo plays harmonica on Love Me Do. He had just joined the band about two weeks before the single's release.
Then why does John play it during live performances? |
Ringo never played harmonica. John did, but he was later embarresed by it.
Yes, Mr. Martin did do the organ thingie in In My Life at halfspeed. |
If you read John's first few pages in the anthology it talks about him playing harmonica
|
Ringo plays harmonica on Love Me Do. He had just joined the band about two weeks before the single's release.
I know for fact that it was john cause john was originally supposed to sing the lead part for love me do but couldnt cause he had to play the mouth harp. |
sounds like quite the debate. I have no clue who played the harmonica so i'll just keep watching lol.
|
John also played the harmonica on "Oh Yoko!" off his solo album Imagine.
Earlier in this thread people were saying that Paul invented his own unique scream but I think his sounds a lot like Little Richard's on songs such as Tutti-Frutti and Good Golly miss Molly. |
Paul played drums for a short period while Ringo was off having a break from the band when he felt out of it.

It's hard to go against an anthology. I'm gonna have to go with John on this one. |

Is one of my favorites (I say that about most harmonica solos) AND John played it in a Hard Day's Night he played it in " I Should Have Known Better" Once upon a timeI saw some parody of Little Richard where he was like "I taught Paul McCartney how to scream!" |

Proof that John plays harmonica. |

I think played lead on Taxman and She came in through the bathroom window. On the "Back in the Us" DvD he plays guitar on a bunch of songs. The best by far is when he plays "Sgt. Peppers Lonely hearts club band (Reprise)" and "The End" It really shows how he still knows how to rock. If you have the money, and youre a McCartney fan, i STRONGLY suggest you pick up this DvD. Its my favorite DvD in my extensive collection Ive watched at least over 100 times now. /Hardcore McCartney fan. |

Paul and john when they were young, took a bus over 50 miles across town to meet a kid that knew the B7 chord. (or Bm i cant remember) Paul and John met george on a bus, and once they heard him play, they put him in the band. Before Ringo was in the beatles he played in a band called "Rorrey and the Hurricains" I read alot of books about the beatles in junior high. |
Has anyone seen the ticket prices for Paul Mccartney's US tour? They're ridiculously overpriced in my opinion.
|
I know. I'm still going. :D

Paul saw John perform and one of John's friend introduced him to Paul. John was impressed by Paul's playing and let him join the band. Later, Paul introduced John to George, and after George tried out, John also let him into the band. 100% True |

Word. Me too. It comes to town the day after my birthday, so I have to go. |

100% True
And then George and Pual were a bit younger than John, so he was sort of a jerk to them in the beginning |
I just finished watching A Hard Day's Night. That's a good movie :)

How did Ringo get in? Why did they kick the other guy out?

Pete Best wasn't a 'team' player. There are quite a few different reasons that have been stated over the years in different interviews and books. Which to really believe is up for grabs. Some reports state that John and Paul were jealous that the birds (chicks, girls) flocked to Pete and they didn't like the competition. Other reports state that Best was a loner in the sense that he didn't mix well with John and Paul in the camaraderie department. Still other reports site the new manager, Brian Epstein as not liking him, that he didn't fit the new image Epstein was molding for the group, and he was responsible for Best's ouster. ( Before Epstein, the Beatles were more Teddy Boy in look. Teddy boy was a British slang term for what we in the States referred to as 'Greasers' during the late 50's and early 60's. Picture leather jackets and slicked back hair styled in 'Ducktails' and you'll get an image of what they looked like on stage during the early days in the Cavern before their trip to Germany in 61. Their look was inspired by Marlon Brando in the movie 'The Wild Ones.' Epstein 'cleaned' them up, insisting on the matching attire and hair styles that made them famous. )
John and Paul had known Ringo when he was playing with 'Rory and the Hurricanes.' When they played the clubs and Rory was on the bill with them, Ringo would often sit in -- as Pete Best often could not be found for the gig at the last minute. Whatever the reason for the replacement, Ringo did fit well, with his easy-going attitude, as well as his humor, matched with that of the band's humor of 'hey, we're not all that serious' that was prevalent in the early days. The Beatles constant statements about being dumbfounded and unbelieving of the magnitude of their early success, served ironically only to endear them to their fans even more so. |
Very informative as always, bcf717
Does anyone own the "Lennon Legend" Dvd?... if so what is it like, is it worth getting etc
It's alright, it has music videos for a bunch of his songs, some of which were made before he died (Imagine, #9 Dream, jealous Guy are some I can remember), some of which are kind of corney and made a few years ago Overall, it's alright, I think you'd like it |

I think I've seen that one on tv, though I may be wrong. If it is that one defenetly get it, I loved it. I would get it anyway though if your as big of a Beatles fan as I am, then you would enjoy it just because its the Bealtes so I would just take a chance on it |
